NWT Family Fishing Staycation - Great Slave Lake - Northwest Territories - Canada - Pt.1 of 3
Every summer my family and I set out on a boating adventure from Yellowknife, to the East Arm of Great Slave Lake, home to record sized Lake Trout and Arctic Grayling. This time we are living it up in luxury, while we stay at a remote Tent Camp, set up for the summer guiding season, by Yellowknife Sportfishing Adventures.
Hot sun on a sand beach, paddle boarding, relaxing and fishing for hungry Lake Trout are on the menu, during this 6 day remote Family Fishing Adventure.
Welcome to Day 1 & 2 of our NWT Staycation. It’s a 4 hour boat ride to camp, then we have to scout out the surrounding area for a good fishing spot. One great thing about fishing in the Arctic, is the fish are always hungry and it seldom takes very long to find them!
Be sure to like and subscribe, so you can follow along with us, on a 3 part Series of our 2021 Family Fishing Staycation on Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories, Canada.

10 Must-Visit Lakes in British Columbia, Canada
The Lakes in British Columbia are some of the most pristine in the world and there are over 20,000 of them in the province alone. If you were to visit 1 lake per day it would take you approximately 54.76 years to accomplish. BC has world-renowned lakes like the amazing glacier fed Joffre Lakes or the warm water paradise of Kalamalka Lake in the Okanagan Valley or how about the gigantic Shuswap Lake, which has what I think are some of the best white sand beaches in BC. So if crystal clear water, beaches, amazing fishing, kayaking, swimming, boating, and a sick tan aren’t your thing, then don’t come to BC.

Fish'N The Arctic Season 2 Adventure Vlog - Expedition Lake Trout Day 1 - Great Slave Lake
Well it has been way too long trying to make this trip happen, since moving to Yellowknife, NT almost 10 years ago now. One might think living next to Great Slave Lake, is just fish after fish every time you go out, but that's not always the case. In order to catch fish after fish, sometimes you have to travel to sections of the lake where the fishing pressure is at a minimum and long days of driving a boat are a must. Loads of gas and the ability to read the weather, as out here in a bad storm is no place to be, no matter how big the fish might be, sometimes waiting out the weather, means waiting until next year. You are totally on your own out here, not a single road, store or gas station, so it all has to come with you and get you back home again. This is where Sport Fishing and Survival come together!
During the summer of 2020, I traveled to the outer reaches of the East Arm in Great Slave Lake, with some friends and Yellowknife Sportfishing Adventures, on a personal bucket list trip to explore new waters and try to catch a personal best Lake Trout and it was Epic!
4 NEW Episodes are coming to NorthwesTel Community TV, Wild TV and The Water Channel Canada, then back here on You Tube where the adventure continues, as we travel back to Yellowknife, through endless sections of breath taking scenery, known as the East Arm of Great Slave Lake. We also may have wet a line, just one more time. See you then and enjoy the show!
