16 Best Places to Visit in Portugal - Travel Video
Check out all the places seen in this video:
Located on the western coast of the Iberian peninsula, Portugal is one of Europe’s most visited countries due to its idyllic climate, affordable travel costs and exceptional attractions. Portugal’s varied geography ranges from the verdant mountains and vineyards of the North to the glamorous beaches of the Algarve along the southern coastline. Also belonging to Portugal but lying in the Atlantic Ocean are the archipelagos of Azores and Madeira, known for their lush landscapes and flower gardens. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in Portugal.
LAGOS, PORTUGAL | 6 BEST Things To Do In Lagos
Lagos is a charming port town that boasts dramatic natural scenery, situated in southern Portugal's Algarve region. We highlight the 6 best things to do in and around Lagos in this video:
6. Hit The Beach
Due to its year-round pleasant weather, one of the best things to do in Lagos is to hit the beach. Characterized by flanking rocky cliffs, hidden coves, and white sand, Lagos is home to many beaches that are perfect to relax and swim. Our favorite beaches for swimming include the sandy Duna Beach, the beautiful Dona Ana, Estudantes, Batata, and Camilo beach.
5. Explore Downtown Lagos
The downtown of Lagos is home to whitewashed houses and narrow cobbled streets, filled with cozy restaurants and cafés. It’s just fun to wander around, have a bite or drink, and relax. But if you want to learn a bit more about Lagos’ past, you can also visit the forte da ponte da bandeira, the iconic churches (Santo Antonio/Santa Maria Church), or one of the museums (Museu de Lagos dr. josé formosinho). It’s also a pleasure to roam around the traditional houses and check out the pretty harbour.
4. Walk The Cliffs
Starting at Pinhao beach, you can walk 3km of coastal cliffs all the way to the famous Ponta da Piedade. Winding above eccentric limestone formations and through diverse flora and fauna, this trail is truly special. Adventure lovers will find joy in getting lost and then navigating their way back to the path throughout the route. Even though the trail is not well-marked, you can just keep walking south the whole time along the cliffs and you’ll make it to Ponta da Piedade.
3. Ponta da piedade
Sitting 3.5 kilometers from the city center of Lagos, Ponta da Piedade is one of the most amazing natural sites to see in the area. Jagged limestone cliffs and hidden caves take center stage while pounding waves make beautiful music in the background. There is a boardwalk as well as small cliff trails that line the edges, winding around the magnificent lighthouse. We recommend arriving at the point an hour or so before sunset. In this way, you can get a little exercise in before rewarding yourself with one of the most beautiful sunset spots in all of Portugal!
2. Grutas boat tour or kayak tour
There are hundreds of caves and strange rock formations that go along the coast from Batata Beach to Ponta da piedade. While it’s fun to walk along the top of the cliffs, it’s even more impressive to see them from the ocean level. You have a few options for guided tours of these special cliffs. You can either go on a guided kayak or boat tour that leaves from downtown Lagos. While the kayak is more adventurous, it can also be a little rough because of weather conditions!
☑️ Book kayak tour:
☑️ Book boat tour:
1. Day trip to Benagil cave
Located about 35 kilometers from Lagos, The Benagil Cave is an amazing natural attraction in the Algarve. You can get to the cave by rental car or by boat tour directly from Lagos. Keep in mind that if you choose the boat tour, you won’t be able to see the inside of the cave since the boat is too big. That’s why we recommend renting a car or scooter to get to the cave and then renting a kayak at the beach itself.
☑️ Book a guided kayaking tour:

For such a small country, Portugal packs a punch. From cosmopolitan cities and out-of-the-way towns and villages, to lively beach resorts and spectacular national parks, this diminutive nation offers an incredibly diverse range of visitor attractions. Occupying a wedge of Iberia and sharing a border with Spain and a fantastic coastline with the Atlantic Ocean, Portugal's location in this sun-kissed corner of Western Europe lends it a singular appeal. Its southern reaches remain a compelling vacation destination, renowned for gloriously sandy beaches and world-class golf courses. The country's interior, meanwhile, offers a wealth of contrast: rolling plains; broad rivers; deep, verdant valleys; and remote mountain ranges.

Sines, Portugal. Pros, Cons, & Initial Impressions. Ep. 8
On my way to the Algarve, I made a quick detour to Sines. Spent 1/2 of the day exploring Sines and the local beaches to see if it could be a potential place to one day relocate from the U.S.
I provide my initial impressions along with my personal view of the pros and cons of Sines.
Background of why I'm in Portugal: My family and I have been researching a move to Portugal for over a year. However, there is only so much value that research can do. We needed first hand experience. Therefore, my family sent me on a mission to explore Portugal and determine whether it's a place we could permanently relocate from the U.S. and call it home. Hopefully, these series of videos are helpful to people.
Did not expect this to be Sines - Portugal🇵🇹
Good morning guys in this beautiful day! 😉
Today we are in birthplace of my fellow explorer Vasco da Gama - we are in Sines. And if somebody do not know Vasco da Gama is the man who went to India between 1497 and 1499, becoming the first European to get to India by sea, expanding the Portuguese Empire, opening up world trade. And this is his city!
Also in this episode we almost got stuck in the mud, we went to Porto Covo and if you will stick to the end , I will show you the place where some mystical forces did not wanted me to go!👌
About the Sines. It's a Portuguese city and municipality in the Setúbal district , Alentejo region.
Area of 203.30 km² and 14,200 inhabitants, subdivided into 2 parishes- Porto Covo and Sines.
The municipality borders to the north and east by the municipality of Santiago do Cacém , to the south by Odemira and to the west it has border with Atlantic Ocean.
From Lisbon it is about 160km - 2 hour drive, depending on which road you take. Toll is 10 euros.
Sines is not only beautiful city with white houses and castle, but also an industrial center with an oil refinery , petrochemical industries, polymer construction and metalworking. And while that may not be much interest to a regular tourist, technology fans can book tours in some of these massive complexes.
And interesting thing - I think it is because of this industrial thing:
The municipality of Sines has the highest GDP per capita among all municipalities in Portugal.
Sines also has huge port and today, more than half of all port traffic in Portugal passes through here , mainly containers.
Because of conditions and location Sines is also a popular beach spot and the main fishing harbor of Alentejo region.
And of course Castle - no city in Portugal without castle. Sines is no exeption. This castle was put up to defend the fleet and town against enemy navies and pirates. And was built in 15th century, but the hill was inhabited long before that and that's the reason - the building is quite compact, as the streets around it had long been there when it was built and it had to adapt to that shape.
Another parish of Sines is Porto Covo. Porto Côvo is to the south, with beautiful compact buildings, main street with restaurants and stunning coast line.
Just like with castle in every corner of Portugal - surfing, windsurfing, bodyboarding, fishing, diving is the trademark of portuguese coastal cities - this place no exeption.
There are surf schools open all year round. And you can get your body wet splashing in the ocean.
So Sines is surprisingly unique city. To be honest I expected less, but I feel that - somebody smart and with brain sits behind the wheel in this municipality. Whoever he/she is- I want to say thank you for making this city to feel and be taken care of. 💯
Real estate: Standart filters 2-3 beds, 1-2 baths, good condition, price average - 3000 euro per square meter, price is bit higher then I expected, but I think thats because there were not so many places for sale. But for this city I think price is reasonable.
So guys, thank you for support and enjoy Sines!🌍

Sines- Portugal. Португалия- Синеш. Васко да Гама.
On the coast just south of Lisbon lies Sines; a small fisherman’s village. It used to depend enormously on fishing, having maintained the colours, the culture and charm of a village with this lifestyle. Its long history is marked along the cliff, where the castle and the Revelim fortress stand; both originally built as a form of protection but now two of Portugal’s most beautiful viewpoints. The various small churches face the sea and overlook its majestic natural theatre. The blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean have always acted as the stage where the life of Sines has taken place. It is a standing example of Portugal’s close relationship with the ocean and the culture born out of it.
Синиш расположен на берегу Атлантического океана, был основан в 1362 году.Здесь родился и провёл свои детские и юношеские годы знаменитый мореплаватель Васко де Гама.
Vasco da Gama earned his place in history during his voyage to India between 1497 and 1499, becoming the first European to get to India by sea, expanding the Portuguese Empire, opening up world trade and ushering in the colonial era.
