byaheng ISABELA - hometown visit at Jones Isabela

About Isabela Province
Prior to 1856, there were only two provinces in the Cagayan Valley Region: Cagayan and Nueva Vizcaya. The Province of Cagayan at that time consisted of all towns from Tumauini to the north in Aparri and all other towns from Ilagan southward to Aritao comprised the province of Nueva Vizcaya. In order to facilitate the work of the missionaries in the evangelization of the Cagayan Valley, a Royal Decree was issued on May 1, 1856, which created the province of Isabela from the portion of the province of Cagayan and Nueva Vizcaya. From Cagayan, the towns of Gamu, Angadanan and Gamarang (now Echague) and from Nueva Vizcaya, its capital town Carig (now Santiago) and Palanan were segregated to constitute the province of Isabela. The new province was named in honor of “Her Royal Highness Queen Isabela II” of Spain.

Although the province did not play a major role in the revolt against Spain, it is in Palanan that the final pages of the Philippines Revolution was written when the American forces led by Gen. Frederick Funston finally captured Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo in the area on March 23, 1901.

Santiago City, the industrial center for region 02, is now an Independent City while Cauayan, the commercial center is a component city. In August 11, 2012 the people of Ilagan voted in a plebiscite to convert their town into a city.

The eastern side straddled by the Sierra Madre Mountain Range is rugged and thickly forested. Its mountains rise to peaks of about 8,000 feet and is home to one of the country’s largest remaining rainforests with numerous unknown endemic species of flora and fauna and exceptional biological diversity. Its coastal area is a small strip of flat to rolling land. It has a 208-kilometer coastline and is home to beautiful caves, coves, bays, and rich marine life.

The western area is a sprawling fertile valley hemmed by the Central Cordillera Mountain and is criss-crossed by the Cagayan, and the Magat Rivers.

Isabela is home to Magat High Rise Dam and Tourism Complex known to be the highest and biggest dam in Asia at the time of its construction.

Isabela comprises an aggregate land area of 10,665 square kilometers, representing almost 40 percent of the regional territory. It is the largest province in the region and the second largest province in the Philippines in terms of land area. The province is bounded on the north by the province of Cagayan, on the south by Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino and Aurora, on the west by the Cordillera Administrative Region and on the east by the Pacific Ocean.

FLORES Family Holiday! 💛🎄 No-Name-Place resort 🌴 in Roxas, Isabela ~

Private pool + videoke + lots of shanghai rolls = a very memorable family holiday for the Floreses and some of our friends. ☺️

Hi everyone! I am still Isabela, and I decided to give my family a relaxing day in a private pool for a Christmas treat. 🎄

This was something I’ve always wanted as a young girl—just to have fun times under bright skies with family. ☀️🌴 But back then, fun was not included in our budget, and the only things we could afford were grind and daydreams. Nowadays, we’ve moved on a little and things are a bit better. 💕 And the eldest daughter can finally afford some fun not just for herself, but with some of her favorite people as well, hihi! Sharing with you some precious moments on that day. ☺️

Xoxo,
Miss Rokzen 🌷

Roxas, Isabela - Siffu bridge damage by Typhoon Rosita October 30, 2018

2018.10.30 - Typhoon Rosita was my first major storm experience since returning to the Philippines. It shook, rattle and flooded the house we were sleeping in. We pretty much bailed out the water that were ingressing into the bedroom and other places where water was being pushed by air into every nook and cranny that it can get into..

The storm did major damaged to Roxas Public Market where there were major repairs needed to be after. Fish vendors has no choice but sell their fish out on the street as the Public Market were not in good condition for use.

The typhoon dump so much water that the middle portion of the bridge was washed out. It took 3 months to emplace temporary road to allow some level of normal traffic. Heavy trucks have no choice but forge the river as not to damage the bridge.

Lower part of the town were flooded and people had to be rescued. Their homes and properties impacted where they needed to repaired along with loss of livestock. The storm damages added a lot of financial burden to a lot people

Isabela-Ifugao Boundaries Local Trails Pre-ECQ Ride

My last ride exploring the awesome local trails of Isabela-Ifugao boundaries before the declaration of ECQ Enhanced Community Quarantine on entire Luzon due to Covid-19 pandemic. The highlight of the ride was the Matusalem Water Reservoir, a SWIP Small Water Impounding Project on the mountains which serves as irrigation and fishing site of the nearby communities.

Roxas, Isabela - Typhoon Rosita damages Siffu Bridge

Video was taken 24th Feb. Videos shows portion of the bridge that was destroyed during Typhoon Rosita. That portion was replaced with metal plates that are welded together then supported by many I-beams that are hammered into the river bed

The rest of the video shows typical vehicular traffic. The rules here are simply to give and take i.e. give way when you feel the need to be considerate and then take when you can without creating to too much inconvenience to other vehicle owners.

Simply put - traffic rules are there are no rules everyone for themselves. Think New York 1910 or 1920 old comedy movie
