Going back in Time - Gadag & Lakkundi||KalyaniChalukyas||MagadiKere||Rivoncars||TravelVlog||
We set about exploring the ancient temples around Gadag and Lakkundi. Gadag is well known for its Publication houses, but lesser known for the beautiful temples from 10thCE. These temples were built by the Kalyani Chalukyas around the 10-11th century. Not much is told or shown about these incredible temples so we decided to document it in our vlogs.
I hope you enjoyed our video.

Shrimanthgada | Holalamma Temple | Gadag | Karnataka | Part 1 | Kannada travel vlog
#Shrimantgad Fort, formerly called #Simantgad, lies near #Devihal village ten miles south of Shirhatti and nine miles south-west of Lakshmeshvar. The fort, though geographically within Sangli limits, belongs to Miraj Senior. It is said to have been built by the Satara kings. The walls are thirty feet high and eight thick, the parapet at the top having loopholes for musketry. They are built of earth and unscoured rubble inside with dry pitching on the outside. The dry pitching is in good order and strong. The fort abounds in babhul and other thorny shrubs which give shelter to poisonous reptiles. The fort has the shape of the segment of a circle. Of the thirty bastions the chord which faces the east has thirteen and the arc seventeen. The largest bastion lies to the southern extremity of the chord, from the top of which- the Tungbhadra, about ten miles distant in the south, is seen. Of the thirty bastions, six on the chord were razed to the ground in 1858 by order of Government. The remaining twenty-four bastions are in good condition. The fort has a temple of the goddess Vhallama which is a rectangular block 116' x 65'. Its height including the parapet is about fifteen feet. The temple was repaired in 1881 and is now tidy and clean. It has a yearly allowance of £12 10s. (Rs. 125), which is paid from the Lakshmeshvar treasury. The fort has five ponds with potable water. The largest pond is four-sided, having the opposite sides 210 and fifty feet long and the perpendiculars thirty-seven and forty-two feet. It has an area of 8295 feet and water eight to nine feet deep.

Magadi Bird 🐦 Sanctuary | Nk Vlogs
It is known that migratory bird come to our gadag district, the place is known as magadi bird sanctuary.

in magadi bird sanctuary it has 23 variety of birds that come from all over the places like Mongolia, kashmir, etc.
it is a 51km journey from hubbli and I had a great experience and fun 😀
the thing that made me shock was there was no proper facility for public toilet and government of karnataka have to develop proper public toilet...
that all what I have felt bad about bird sanctuary
but when we keep all that things aside its a good place to visit from November to January
and try to visit it u would have a great experience and its a heaven ✨ for enjoying beauty of the God's creation.

Galageshwara temple, Galaganatha | Kappata Giri/Gudda - Ep. 03 - Day 1
Galageshwara temple, Galaganatha | Kappata Giri/Gudda - Ep. 03 - Day 1
Galaganath is a small village located near Haveri, in the Haveri District, Karnataka. Located here is the famous Galageshwar Shiva Temple[1] built during the rule of the Western Chalukyas. This large temple faces east and is situated along the Tungabhadra River. The rivers Tunga and Varada join at Galaganath.
Galaganath was formerly known as Palluni. The Galageshwar temple,[2] an example of the Chalukya style of architecture, was built here around the 11th century. Sri Venkatesh Galaganath (Kadambari Pitamaha) worshiped at the Galageshwar temple, and he wrote his novels on the temple premises.
The temple faces to east and it is situated along the Tungabhadra river. the temple consists of a huge Shiva Linga in a closed hall; it is called Sparsha linga. The temple has an unusual pyramidal basement and a large open hall. The Gopura (tower) is decorated with plain architectural elements while the wall panels of the back of the hall have some fine decorations. The interior has numerous niches containing figural sculpture including Ganesha.
A large inscription slab in the open hall of Galageshwar temple dates from 1080 AD and records a grant to the God Galageshwar. The date gives an indication of the era when the temple was built.
The inscription here informs about the prevalence of the tradition of dance and music. The high state of development which the art of music had reached in the 11th century A.D. can be gathered from an inscription of Chalukya king Vikramaditya from Galaganath,[4] Haveri Taluk and Haveri District, North Karnataka, which mentions a certain Mokhari Barmmayya, a musician of high order, titled Battisaraga-bahu-kala-Brahma meaning skilled in 32 ragas.
Kappatagiri or Kappata Gudda; THE SAHYADRI OF UTTARA KARNATAKA . The Kappatagiri range is a reserved wildlife Sanctuary comprising the area of 244.15 sq km (24415.73 hectares) spread across the three taluks of Gadag, Mundargi and Shirahatti.
Wind mills for energy generation can be seen here.
As reported a few years ago, there used to be illegal gold mining around this valley.
Kappatagudda has a unique landscape almost similar to Western Ghats and is considered to be the treasure Trove of unique Flora and Fauna and also the rarest Medicinal Plants.
It is the least known place that seves to be one of the best spot for nature lovers. The plain feilds and the green mountains run along as u ride towards the destination.
The distance to Kappatagudda from Gadag is around 25kms and 365kms from Bengaluru.
