Here are the top 7 things to see in Ephesus, Turkey - an ancient Greek and Roman city on the coast of Ionia - 1.9 miles southwest of present-day Selçuk, Turkey. It was built in the 10th century BC by the Greeks. During the Classical Greek era, it was one of twelve cities that were members of the Ionian League. The city came under the control of the Roman Republic in 129 BC. Its many monumental buildings included the Library of Celsus, the old Roman terraced houses and a theater capable of holding 24,000 spectators.
Today, the ruins of Ephesus are a favorite international tourist attraction and Ephesus is the second most visited site in Turkey. It is often accessed from the resort town Kuşadası. In 2015, the ruins were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

EPHESUS IS INCREDIBLE!! 🇹🇷 | Selçuk & Ephesus, Turkey
In this video we show you guys how easy it is to travel to Ephesus from Izmir using the train (Izban)!! Watch as we take the Izban early in the morning from Karşıyaka to Selçuk Station. When we arrive we grab food before heading into the Ancient City of Ephesus!! We then wander around the incredible site, taking in the amazing history and seeing the famous ampitheatres and the Library of Celsus! After leaving Ephesus we head back into Selçuk to check out the Selçuk Castle (Which we absolutely loved!) before ending our day!

We are traveling around the world overland by train and we are currently in Turkey! We are taking a break from our around the world trip by rail to enjoy almost 2 months in Turkey, exploring nearly the whole country we will be enjoying the metropolis' of Modern Turkey, discovering ancient Greek and Roman cities, exploring the natural beauty and diving into mankind's pre-history past.
We, like so many of you are visiting the ancient city of Ephesus. While we are in Selcuk, we wanted to know where to eat.... well, we went looking and nobody has done any food ranging or thought to help travellers figure out where to eat. If you don't want to fall into any tourist traps, make sure you watch until the end. We try the famous Iskander Kebab, hit a local lokantacisi for home cooked style food, we try tahini Pide, get sucked into a tourist trap to try cop sish and then find a hidden gem of a kebab shop that also sells wonderful carpets. There is even more to see so come check it out!

Exploring EPHESUS ruins, a top place to visit in Turkey || Travel vlog after pandemic
We were so exited to finally visit Ephesus. We grew up reading about this ancient Roman city in Turkey and could not wait to check out these must see ancient ruins. Due to COVID the hours of operation were shortened. We spent a few hours exploring the market in Selçuk and getting some baked goods in our bellies before coming back to Ephesus to be cooked in the midday sun. We had the city to ourselves with just a small amount of other locals. We were blown away by how grand the amphitheatre was and by the gorgeous views from the top. By far our favorite place besides the communal toilets was the Library of Celsus, the facade is breathtaking. It is easy to see why Ephesus is on the list of the top 10 places to visit in Turkey. This city definitely has some of the best ancient ruins to visit. We know not a lot of people are traveling in the summer of 2020 but when people are looking to travel again we highly recommend visiting these incredible ancient ruins!
