Sardinia TOP 10 Places to Visit: Costa Smeralda, Cagliari, Villasimius, Alghero, Stintino, and more
If you are planning to visit Sardinia, in Italy, here you’ll find the best tips on things to do on the island, with a sightseeing map of the most relevant points of interest to enjoy, so you can easily imagine and organize your trip: WHAT to see, HOW to plan your visit, and WHY to discover Sardinia region.
In this video:
- WHAT are the major attractions that you can't go home without having seen, including Cagliari, Alghero, Emerald Coast (Costa Smeralda), Pelosa beach, the village of Bosa, Villasimius, Costa Rei, Limbara mountain, Gallura, Tavolara island, Capo Ferrato, Stintino village.
- Then, I’ll describe to you HOW to follow a tour to better visit the island, with a clear map of Sardinia and tips to organize your trip and your vacation.
• Finally, we’ll discover WHY to visit Sardinia, with its rich traditions and wonderful nature!
So, what are the most relevant points of interest in this fascinating island? Here are my answers:
COSTA REI
Located on the southeast coast of Sardinia, Costa Rei is a small village. This place is much appreciated by international travelers as a destination for holidays in Sardinia.
Across miles of stunning white sand beaches, here you can find high-quality tourism services: some of the best family hotels, luxury villas, resorts, restaurants, and much more.
GALLURA
Among the favorite tourist destinations in the Mediterranean, Gallura lies on a beautiful stretch of land almost lapping Corsica, overlooking the Strait of Bonifacio.
The extreme north of the island is the natural pearl of the promontory of Capo Testa, with its beaches surrounded by the greenery of strawberry trees and a rich Mediterranean vegetation.
COSTA SMERALDA
In particular, the Costa Smeralda is a coastal stretch that is part of Gallura and which extends for about 55 kilometers.
Moving south there is the imposing island of Tavolara, in front of which there are other beautiful beaches such as Lu Impostu and Brandinchi.
ALGHERO
Alghero is a city loved for its walkway along the port’s bastions, the red roofs that touch the sky and the historical center: a labyrinth of narrow streets that connect piazzas bustling with life.
VILLASIMIUS
Villasimius is popular for its renowned resorts, hotels and long white sand beaches with crystal clear waters, diving sites, coves, and a landscape covered in the Mediterranean scrub.
LIMBARA
Visit Monte Limbara, a rocky granitic massif not very high (1,359 meters), recommended to those who want to hike and enjoy nature without a deep trekking experience.
CAGLIARI
Most tourists begin their visit in the island capital of Cagliari, stopping at least to climb from Piazza della Costituzione to Bastione San Remy.
Cagliari can be an excellent base for visiting the southern coast of the island, which has some of the best beaches in Sardinia.
STINTINO (LA PELOSA BEACH)
The main tourist attraction of Stintino is the beach of La Pelosa, made of fine white sand and a turquoise-blue sea. An icon here is the tower, built in 1578 by the Aragonese, called Torre della Pelosa.
BOSA
In the village of Bosa, a tangle of medieval streets winds from the old stone bridge to the hilltop Malaspina Castle.
CAPO FERRATO
The wild promontory of Capo Ferrato is ideal for taking beautiful walks and breathing in nature.
FOOD:

Culurgiones: Sardinian stuffed pockets made from semolina flour, white flour, eggs, water and salt giving a soft crust to the ravioli.

1 Day in Naples, Italy | Travel Guide
This week we are taking you to an incredible, eclectic, tasty, unpredictable city : Naples.
Italy is world renowned for its food, but Naples is just… a State in the State when it comes to its culinary importance.
We’ve been exploring this city more by eating than by sightseeing. Both endeavours have been incredibly rewarding!
There are layers and layers of history and architectural heritage in Napoli : from medieval castles, to royal palaces, churches and even catacombs. Naples is an old lady, older in fact than Rome, since it was founded by the Greeks and later on conquered by Romans.
In this video we tried to convey all the enthusiasm and amazement this trip brought us. We also have made a list of our TOP recommendations in Naples : WHERE to eat, WHAt to eat, WHAT to see and visit. This is just our personal list so… do your research, but most importantly enjoy this city and don’t miss on the opportunity to just get lost in its narrow streets and let the magic happen.
Our TOP THINGS TO SEE IN NAPLES :
Via Toledo and the Quartieri Spagnoli
Galleria Umberto I
Piazza del Plebiscito (Church of San Francesco di Paola and Royal Palace)
Castel Nuovo
Spaccanapoli and Via San Gregorio Armeno (the Christmas Alley)
Castel dell’Ovo
Extra tip : get the best view of the whole city at the Certosa e Museo di San Martino, in the hilltop neighbourhood of Vomero. Vomero is one of the “fancy” areas of the city, completely different from the picturesque Quartieri Spagnoli.
WHERE TO STAY IN NAPLES :
We stayed at a nice airbnb right next to the train station, close to Porta Nolana. It was very convenient for using public transportation and reaching Ercolano, Vesuvio and Pompeii. There was also a direct metro line to reach Vomero neighbourhood.
But if you want to be closer to restaurants and landmarks, you should consider staying in the area between Quartieri Spagnoli, Santa Lucia and Centro Storico neighbourhoods.
WHERE TO EAT IN NAPLES : 1) Scaturchio for breakfast, and it did not disappoint. The babà here was amazing. Also the rustico was incredible. And everything else, really.
2) Pizzeria Brandi for lunch. PIZZA MARGHERITA WAS INVENTED HERE. The pizza was great, and the history-filled atmosphere made the whole experience unforgettable.
3) Any pizza fritta stand, especially on Via Tribunali road. We had ours at 'A Puteca d' 'a Pizza.
4) Antica Trattoria e Pizzeria da Carmine, right next to the train station.

In this sicily vlog:
- WHAT are the major attractions that you can't go home without having seen, the best of Sicily, including Etna mountain, Enna, The Stair of the Turks, Valley of the Temples, Cava Randello natural reserve, Portopalo di Capopassero, Marzamemi village, the baroque cities of Noto, Modica and Ragusa, the natural reserve of Plemmirio, Syracuse (Cathedral of Syracuse, the Castello Maniace, Arethusa fountain, Neapolis archaeological with its Roman amphitheater, Greek theatre and the Ear of Dionysius), Villa Romana del Casale, Punta Secca, Catania and Taormina.
- Then, I’ll describe to you HOW to follow an easy tour to better visit the Sicily destinations, with a clear sightseeing Sicily map.
Finally, we’ll discover WHY to visit Sicily, with his rich historic and nature.
(Errata corrige: the painting of the church of Santa Lucia di Lecce - 5:24 minutes of the video - is by Caravaggio, not by Giotto! )
WHAT
Starting from Catania, the first attraction not to be missed is Etna, taking the cable car. (Google Maps:
The Etna volcano is one of the world’s most active volcanoes and is in an almost constant state of activity.
After Etna, I suggest you reach the southern coast. If you want, you can make an intermediate stop to visit the city of Enna.
The Stair of the Turks (Google Maps: white limestone steps shaped by nature, the turquoise color of the sea and the fine sand beaches that border it…you will love it!
Valley of the Temples (Google Maps:
The Valley of the Temples is the largest archaeological site in the world! 8 temples are visible in the valley.
Along the southern coast, I suggest you visit Cava Randello natural reserve (Google Maps: and Portopalo di Capopassero (Google Maps:
On the east coast, if you can, visit Marzamemi village (Google Maps: and the baroque city of Noto (Google Maps: but don't miss absolutely the natural reserve of Plemmirio (Google Maps: and, of course, Syracuse (Google Maps:
Modica o Ragusa o Noto: The Baroque towns of Noto, Modica and Ragusa are all UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Just take a walk through the historic centers to enjoy palaces, churches and cathedrals.
Parco Marino del Plemmirio: Close to Syracuse, there are a lot of beautiful small coves, but the best landscape you can admire is Parco del Plemmirio.
Syracuse and Ortigia Island:
This 2,700-year-old city played a key role in ancient times, becoming one of the greatest cities of the Western Greek migration.
In the charming Ortigia Island, visit the Cathedral of Syracuse, which was previously a Doric temple; the Castello Maniace and Arethusa fountain.
In the modern city of Syracuse visit Neapolis archaeological park.
HOW
The best way to visit Sicilyis by car, following a tour like the one showed in the video, where between each location there is no more than 2 hours. You can travel along this circle in the direction you prefer.
If you have more time, you could add some other attractions to visit:
Villa Romana del Casale, a roman villa which contains some of the best and most complex mosaics from the Roman Empire
Punta Secca, a fishing village famous to be the set of the TV series “Il commissario Montalbano”
the Baroque towns Modica and Ragusa
the city of Catania
and the tourist destination of Taormina.
WHY
The signs of history which surround Sicily.
And nature here is something remarkable.
We all know that Italian food is something special, and in the video you’ll find four deliciousness absolutely to taste:
- granita
- arancino
- cannolo e cassata
But the most intense attraction of Sicily is the atmosphere that you breathe, of times gone, and the air that smells of salt and freedom!
