🇳🇱 Let's Bike Through Some Of The Netherlands And Visit a Dutch Super Market!
In the summer of 2022 we had the pleasure of staying in the Netherlands for about 1 month and spent a lot of time between Kaag and Sassenheim Netherlands. Join us on a short adventure over to a BIG Dutch supermarket. We start but bicycling from Kaag through the canals and forests and end up in Sassenheim which is a near by town... or village. Since we are full time nomads we tend to eat mostly at home and we always have fun seeing the differences between U.S. Supermarkets and Super markets in other countries. We also stumble upon a lovely outdoor market in Sassenheim and stop for a snack.
Bicycling is probably the most common type of transportation here in the Netherlands so we had to make a video that shows you!

1) CARRY CASH or MASTERCARD
Dutch people are adverse to debt so in the Netherlands you will find that AMEX and VISA are not always acepted. For us, our cards weren't accepted more than they were so we had to take out cash and use that during our entire trip. If you don't have the cash then hopefully you will have a Mastercard, which we still had trouble with because it was a credit card.
NOT TO MENTION
It's a good rule of thumb to always have a little bit of cash in the local currency wherever you are since not everywhere is trustworthy and not everywhere takes cash or Visa.
2)THE NETHERLANDS IS EXPENSIVE
If you are like us, we are always saving money for our next plane tickets, special adventures, or fun new gadgets, etc. That being said, we agreed the only way we would come to the Netherlands was if we had some kind of job and free stay. During our time we used two of our favorite sites to help save us some money including World Packers and Trusted House Sitters.
3) PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IS EXPENSIVE
To our surprise, public transportation was also very expensive and something we didn't budget for. Everything is nicer but more expensive as well so plan ahead.

We barely made it to the Netherlands Tulips season! Nevertheless, we explored it in a fun and very different way - with an eScooter bike! The Netherlands in spring is the most beautiful because of the tulips around. However, we went sometime in May, which means the tulips were almost completely cut and way over their blooming time!
That didn't stop us from exploring more of what the Netherlands had to offer, especially in the Lisse region of Hillegom. Here, we hopped on our trusty eScooter bikes and set off to explore the picturesque countryside.
As the Tulips Season comes to a close, we make our way to this hidden gem, the Keukenhof Castle. This charming castle is nestled amidst the lush gardens and vibrant flowers, offering a unique glimpse into the rich history and culture of the Netherlands. We also discovered a unique cafe, which used to be a historic train station in Lisse.

Tulip fields Lisse, Holland
A short movie of the amazing tulip fields we have in Holland in 2020 during these crazy times with the corona virus we have in our world. I have spotted this tulip fields near Lisse. Lisse is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality covers an area of 16.05 km2 of which 0.36 km2 is water. It's population was 22,800 in 2019. The most popular attraction in Lisse is Keukenhof, open only during spring when the tulips are flowering. Also each spring a flower parade called the Bollenstreek Bloemencorso is held through the main streets of Lisse. In August the fantasy festival Castlefest is held in the gardens of Castle Keukenhof.

Part 1 of a weekend in the Netherlands exploring the tulip fields. In this video we share two places to see tulip fields in Holland. First up be sure to check out some of the beautiful tulip fields around Noordwijkerhout. Annemieke's Pluktuin tulip picking garden is perfect for pictures in the tulip fields and picking your own bouquet from the tulip garden. Finally we ended the day at the magical Keukenhof gardens.

Tulips in spring are stunning, and I hope you've learned the best places to see tulips in The Netherlands (including the Holland region).
Whether you want to go to the tulip barn or tulip experience Amsterdam - or simply visit a hidden tulip garden in The Netherlands. Tulips are the national flower of The Netherlands and you can easily see the tulips from Amsterdam with going on my tour - or bringing a visit to one of the travel blogs about tulip fields I linked in this bio above.
The flower fields in The Netherlands are no tulip garden - you have to go to the other places I've mentioned. I hope you also enjoyed seeing the Tulip Fields in The Netherlands by drone.
If you want to visit the tulip fields near the Keukenhof in Lisse and don't mind the crowds - then you're still going to love it. There are no tulip fields in Amsterdam - there is a National Tulip Day in Amsterdam in January - no tulip festival in Amsterdam (there are only some flower pots with blooming tulips and that's it) during tulip season in The Netherlands. The best way to see Dutch tulip flower fields near the Keukenhof is go by train and rent a bike from either Hillegom, Noordwijk, Sassenheim, Voorhout or Lisse. This is one of The Netherlands' most touristic places.
The best tulip fields in The Netherlands are in whichever area you prefer - but I like them the most in my homeregion. Then you also don't need to worry about how you can enjoy tulips in The Netherlands.
