Alentejo, Portugal | City of Santarem, Evora, Beja, Portalegre | Drone 4k video | Alentejo cities
Alentejo, Portugal. The video tells about Alentejo, a region of Portugal. In the video, the drone flies around various sights and beautiful landscapes from a bird's eye view in 4k quality.
basic information
Alentejo is the largest region of Portugal, which begins at the southern bank of the Tagus River and ends at the Algarve mountain ranges, occupying more than a third of the country's area. In the east it borders with such regions of Portugal as the Center and Lisbon, in the east with Spain, and in the south with the Algarve Region, in the west the border is in contact with the Atlantic Ocean. Includes 5 sub-regions.
Capital
Évora is the capital of the Alentejo, it produces a rare type of wine and you can taste interesting dishes from black pig, which is grown only in the Alentejo region, where cork oak plantations are also located. There are many interesting and beautiful places to visit in Évora: the Shopping Street, where handicraftsmen sell a lot of cork products, the Cathedral, which is decorated with white, black and pink marble, which still sounds one of the oldest organs in Portugal, Giraldo Square where you can hear the legends about Giraolla Sempavora, who with the knights - the crusaders recaptured Evora from the Moors, the Temple of St. Francis - which frightens and fascinates at the same time by the fact that the monks used the skeletons as building material for the chapel of the 16th century.
Nature of the Alentejo
Alentejo is a very beautiful region in which there are a lot of picturesque and beautiful places. The Troy peninsula, which offers incredible landscapes with beautiful centuries-old pine trees, near the island you can admire the dolphins and visit the small Authentic village of Comporta, and then watch a beautiful sunset on the coast, and in the national park you can also see stork colonies on the rocks. Along the banks of the Tejo River, plains begin, which are lost behind the horizon, in the northern part, greenery and flowers appear that give a special accent to the plains that flow into pastures pulsating with grasses in gusts of wind. The expanse landscape is interrupted by cork and olive trees, they and the Tagus River offer a beautiful view from the natural observation deck of Santareni.
Alentejo cities: Santarem, Evora, Beja, Portalegre.
Santarém is the center of the municipality of the same name, the center of the province of Ribatejo. Named in honor of St. Irina of Tomar, the patroness of the city. It is located on the right bank of the Tagus River. On the site of the city already in the VIII century BC. there was an ancient settlement.
Evora is a city in the eastern part of Portugal, the center of the municipality of the same name. In ancient times it was founded by the Lusitanians and was named Ebora. It is the center of an agricultural region, the city has many enterprises processing grapes, olives, cork wood and grains.
Beja is the center of the municipality of the same name, the center of the province of Baixo Alentejo. Under Caesar it was called Pax Julia, in Roman times it was called Lusantia. Later, the economic decline began and until 1521 Beja was not a city.
Portalegre is the center of the district of the same name, founded in 1259. Located 162 km northeast of Lisbon, 12 km from the Spanish border.
What to watch
In Alentejo, you can look at the beautiful views from natural viewing platforms or visit open-air museums, sunbathe on the beaches. Almendrish is a megalithic complex with the largest number of menhirs in the Iberian Peninsula and in Europe. Natural Park Arrabida which starts from Setubal to Sesimbra and is famous for its beautiful views, combinations of colors of the landscape of the azure ocean and white limestone mountains. The beaches of Troy unfolded on the coast of the northern cape of the Troy Peninsula, divided into four parts, these beaches are famous for their azure waters and magnificent landscapes.
Attractions
Landmarks are a very important part of culture and history. The Évora Museum is very important in a historical, archaeological and artistic sense, not only because of the exhibits located there, but also the building itself, which is the former palace of the archbishop. Marwan Castle also deserves attention, built in the 9th century, which has complex systems of fortification passages and has played a significant role in history. A majestic castle that will make you feel like a grain of sand.
