Biking in Cuba; Santa Cruz del Norte, Mantanzas and Jibacoa areas

On our last Cuban vacation, my friend and I brought our hybrid bikes. While our wives, snorkeled and laid on the beach, we biked over 158 km during the week. From the resort, Villa Jibacoa, we biked to the city of Mantanzas and back. That was over 81 km. We made three trips to the city of Santa Cruz del Norte. It was a very rewarding week of biking. The roads are mostly paved and in good shape. Traffic on the side roads was lite. The Cuban were friendly for the most part and we felt perfectly safe. Our lack of Spanish hindered us a little but I'm going to be spending more time learning the language. My goal is to bike from one end of Cuba to the other.

3 cuttlefish together in Cuba

Sorry for the shaky video but I was both excited and also at the mercy of the waves while trying to film this. I was snorkeling at the Breezes Jibacoa resort in Santa Cruz del Norte, Cuba in March 2011 when I came across 3 cuttlefish just sitting there still almost equally spaced apart totally unaffected by the surf like I was.. I did manage to capture a little bit of video of them while being tossed around. I watched for a while before some other tourists came along and scared them off.. Awesome sight....
