Santa Ana - Our Favorite City in El Salvador! (El Salvador Travel Guide 2022)
Santa Ana is El Salvador's second largest city and it's the perfect hub to experience all of the epic attractions you can find in Western El Salvador.
All within an easy day trip from Santa Ana:
The country's tallest volcano, Volcan de Santa Ana (Santa Ana Volcano). Which you can easily hike to the summit of and look down at an epic turquoise crater lake that's literally steaming. On a clear day, you can even see the Pacific Ocean from up there, and plenty of other volcanos.
Lago de Coatepeque, an epic lake in the crater of a volcano that you can swim in. Surrounded by restaurants, bars, and hotels.
Ruta de las Flores (Route of the Flowers), a road that takes you through numerous small colonial towns, famous for their flowers, art, colonial architecture, and mountain scenery. The towns are surrounded by waterfalls and gorgeous nature, and the route has several coffee farms along the way.
You can also visit ancient Maya ruins from Santa Ana and tour coffee farms. It's an epic area to do a lot. If you have time, you can also visit Guatemala and Honduras, both of which are easily accessible from this part of El Salvador.
Beyond the nearby attractions though, the city of Santa Ana itself is an absolute hidden gem in Central America and it quickly became our favorite city in El Salvador. As well as one of our favorites in all of Central America! It's a lively and active city with a ton of culture and spirit, lots of history, an amazing food scene, and a unique blend of old and new. Away from all the action, you can easily escape into one of dozens of quiet and peaceful streets and neighborhoods filled with flowers and fruit trees and dotted with cafes and pupuserias.
We love Santa Ana and in this video we take you around the city, introduce you to some of our friends, and show you some of the things you can't miss when you visit.
Have you been to El Salvador? If not, would you consider going?
We highly recommend it! When you do go, make sure you don't skip out on Santa Ana!

❓ Answer to the trivia question at the end of the video: In Mérida, there is a tropical climate, hot all year round. There is a rainy and muggy season from June to October, a relatively cool season from November to February, and a hot season before the rains, from March to May, when the highest temperatures of the year are reached, with peaks of more than 40 °C (104 °F).

Best Day Trips from Merida, Mexico! (Izamal 'The Yellow City' Vlog)
One of the absolute best things about living in Mérida, Yucatán has been the weekend and day trips hands down!
Since moving to the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, we've visited some really amazing places that make our all-time favorites list.
Our time living in Mexico as expats (or migrants, or digital nomads) has been split between Valladolid and Merida so far. During this time we've been able to take day or weekend trips to Celestun, Progreso, Tulum, Chichen Itza, Ek Balam, Homun, Campeche, and of course, Izamal! We've got videos out about our trip to Celestun and Progreso, stay tuned for more! In fact, we'll soon be going from yellow to blue! :)
In this video, we give you a preview of a cenote paradise with crystal clear blue water swimming holes that's also very close to Merida and one of our absolute favorite ways to cool off!
They're all so incredibly unique and amazing in so many different ways, we can't really pick a favorite but Izamal is definitely way up there!
We love visiting places that offer things that you just can't find anywhere else. Izamal has SO many things that make it stand out and yet it's so underrated! Where else can you find a vibrant yellow city with the ruins of FIVE Maya pyramids right in town?! To add to that, the world's second-largest Atrium (after the Vatican), the fact that one of the Maya pyramids is the 3rd largest pre-Hispanic structure in all of Mexico, and that it's possible that Izamal is the oldest city in Yucatán! All just a 45-minute drive from Merida!
It's incredible and truly has a spirit and history that's all it's own! You definitely should not miss a trip when anywhere in the Yucatan Peninsula.
Thanks for watching and if you enjoyed the video, we'd love it if you would comment, like, and subscribe! We hope to hear from you all! :)

HUATULCO Mexico’s MOST Underrated BEACH TOWN
Huatulco, Huatulco, Huatulco! WOW! If you find yourself in Mexico or looking for your next Mexican Beach Vacation look no further - Huatulco Oaxaca Mexico is the spot!
Huatulco Mexico has some of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico - and in this video we show you two of the most popular, Playa Santa Cruz and Playa la Entrega. Oaxaca beaches in general are outstanding but in Huatulco the water is so unbelievably blue and super calm so you can swim.
Huatulco is home to 9 bays and over 36 beaches! Bahia Tangolunda is where you’ll find the exclusive resorts, Bahia Santa Cruz the tourist activities, and La Crucecita is the downtown. Huatulco blew us away with it’s cleanliness and authenticity and we can’t wait to make a trip back to Huatulco Oaxaca!

Why Merida is a top 10 city to visit in 2022 | Casa de Montejo, Mayan Ball game, and Grande Plaza
We went to a top 10 city to visit in 2022! Merida is becoming a very popular destination for travelers. So it was only right that while we were in Mexico we would visit this vibrant city. We stayed in Merida for a week and experienced the local cuisine, architecture, and culture.
Lonely Planet Magazine named Merida a top 10 city to visit in 2022. To read the full article click here.
While we were in Merida we went to Museums, parks, and the famous Pok Ta Pok (which is Merida's version of the Mayan Ball game). We stayed in an Airbnb in the center of the city that was unlike anything we have stayed in before. To see more on that please click the link below.
Merida has a lot more to explore than we had time for. When in the season they also have a Bullfight arena. The biggest draw for us was the architecture and perseverance of Mayan artifacts and Mayan craftsmanship.
We hope you enjoy this video. If you do be sure to subscribe as it means so much to us when you do. Let us know which top 10 cities to visit in 2022 will you want to go to the most.

7 Things to do in the GEM of the Yucatan! (Valladolid, Mexico Travel Guide)
We've spent the last 5+ weeks living in Valladolid, a small city city in the middle of the Yucatan Peninsula with just under 50k people. It's more than just a good stopping point between Cancun and Merida. It's known for it's rich Spanish colonial and Mayan history and architecture, and for being the perfect launching point for the Yucatan states most famous cenotes and ruins of ancient Mayan cities. In fact, there's dozens of cenotes surrounding Valladolid and Mayan archeological sites like Chichen Itza and Ek Balam are 30-45 minutes away.
The city itself is charming and photogenic and full of hidden gems. Just booking a place to stay is an adventure. There's beautiful hotels, hostels, guesthouses and Airbnb's, many of which are set in old colonial houses that have beautiful gardens and courtyards. On the more adventurous side you can camp at a Bee Park, or in the jungle inside of classic Volkswagen Beetle cars converted into small rooms. Yes, really.
Stores that sell hand-made hammocks, clothes and crafts line the streets and there are endless crafts makers setting up shop on the sidewalks and in pushcarts. The shopping is endless. The food scene is also incredible, with all of the Yucatan culinary staples being a stones throw from the city center. After you've had your fill of Yucatec cuisine, maybe never, try the street vendors selling things like sopas, tacos, quesadillas, and even hotdogs and hamburgers. Believe it or the not, the hotdogs and hamburgers are the best we've ever had, in the whole world! You won't miss out on much food wise, because even Italian food is super popular here. With more than a dozen pizza and Italian places in town!
Valladolid HAS to be on your list, it truly is the gem of the Yucatan and is so underrated. When you go, check out our top 7 things to do and let us know what your favorites are!
