Ta Cenc, the highest cliffs in Gozo Island, Malta and Ramla Beach with red sand at the Mediterranean
The Ta Cenc Cliffs, also known as Sanap Cliffs, are located in the southern coast of Gozo (in Sannat) and they are the tallest cliffs in Gozo (120-150 m from the sea level). We spent a few hours here, the landscapes are amazing. We saw people jumping from the cliffs in the beautiful Mediterranean Sea.
One of the most interesting places to visit in Gozo Island is Ramla il-Ħamra – the Red Sandy Beach. Ramla Beach is very popular for the locals, they enjoy the sun at the beach even in winter time (the video is filmed in November 2022). What is most interesting is that the surrounding area is not (yet) full of hotels and restaurants, it seems very wildly.
Stay tuned because we will post more videos from Malta.

Gozo Coastal Trail (Malta) | Day 1 | Mgarr to Xlendi 🇲🇹
In May 2023 I hiked around the Gozo Coastal Trail, a 55km walk around the island of Gozo in Malta. It took me roughly 3 days (although 2 were half days at the start and end). My initial intention was to wild camp however the wind was pretty ferocious at times, and there was very little shelter on the cliffs so I ended up staying in hotels. In general the island of Gozo was a lot more dramatic and wild than I expected and I passed very few people, and only through a few towns. A really cool little adventure. For more information on this hike, please see my Gozo Coastal Trail blog at

Life's a beach on the island of Gozo
Gozo has some of the best beaches anywhere in Malta and they tend to be more peaceful and natural too. The sun shines some 300 days per year and sunbathing weather is more or less guaranteed between June and September and regularly stretches from May to November.
The water is a crystal clear azure and warm for most of the year – perfect for swimming, snorkelling, diving or just splashing about. Gozo has two beautiful red sandy beaches – Ramla and San Blas – with space for games and sand castles, as well as a couple of smaller yellow-sandy shores at Marsalforn and ix-Xlendi. There are also plenty of good rocky swimming areas.
Being such a small island, if there is wind on one side of Gozo, you need only hop a few kilometres along the coast to find another bay that is calm and tranquil – so there is almost always a beach to serve your purpose.

Ta' Cenc Cliffs, Gozo, Malta 4K | Cinematic video by drone
Here is a cinematic drone video of Ta' Cenc Cliffs in Malta 4K.
Ta Cenc Cliffs are an impressive natural wonder located on the southern coast of Gozo, Malta's second-largest island. Rising 120 meters above sea level, the cliffs offer breathtaking panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea, including the neighboring island of Comino and the islet of Cominotto.
The cliffs are made up of globigerina limestone, a type of sedimentary rock formed by the accumulation of tiny marine organisms. The limestone is layered and textured, creating an intricate and unique geological formation that is a photographer's dream.
In addition to their natural beauty, the cliffs are also home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, including a number of rare and endangered plant species. Visitors can take a hike along the cliff edge to explore the area and soak in the stunning views, or simply sit back and enjoy the tranquil beauty of this remarkable natural landmark.
The area surrounding Ta' Cenc Cliffs is rich in archaeological remains and historical significance. There are ancient burial sites and prehistoric cart ruts nearby, highlighting the deep-rooted human history of the region.
The cliffs attract outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Visitors can embark on exhilarating hikes along the cliff edge, take in the breathtaking views, or even indulge in rock climbing for an adrenaline-filled adventure.

Gozo's Churches
The story goes that Malta has enough churches to visit a different one every day of the year. This is very nearly true and the concentration of churches in Gozo is just as dense. Every little village has its own church. They are often huge in comparison with the population they serve, but a good church is a matter of religious pride and Gozo’s villages are traditionally religious.
The churches vary enormously, from seventeenth-century baroque to twentieth-century neoclassical, from small and intimate to one of the largest dome in the world, from serving simple parish duties to the welcoming pilgrims from all over the world. The churches are usually open for mass in the early morning and evening and in Gozo they rarely close during the day so you can drop in whenever you wish – to pray or just to take a look around.
