Facts
Ireland is known for its wide expanses of lush, green fields. In fact, its nickname is the Emerald Isle.
But there are also large areas of rugged, rocky landscape. About 15,000 years ago,
Ireland was completely covered by thick glaciers.
The movement of these giant sheets of ice stripped the soil,
leaving huge tracts of flat, limestone pavement.

PEOPLE & CULTURE
Ireland is a nation of storytellers.
The tradition dates back to Celtic bards,
who would record and recite the country's history.
Many famed writers come from Ireland, including four winners of the Nobel Prize for literature.
The Irish also excel in music and sports.

NATURE
The Irish have a great affection for nature and rural life.
The country's first coins even featured pictures of animals.
Low levels of development and pollution in Ireland have left most of the nation's open spaces relatively undisturbed.
Did you know that there are no wild snakes in Ireland?
The sea has stopped many animals common on mainland Europe from reaching the island.
There are also only two wild mouse species, one type of lizard, and just three kinds of amphibians.
Irish wildlife is protected by government conservation programs.
To preserve natural habitat,
the government has established six national parks and hundreds of national heritage areas throughout the country.

LIFE IN DUBLIN| GREEN LUAS LINE FROM BROOMBRIDGE TO SANDYFORD! #ireland #employment #tourism

Stillorgan Reservoir, Sandyford, Dublin. A Tour...

An enormous expanse of water sits beside Stillorgan and Sandyford Luas Stations in Sandyford iIndustrial Estate (aka Sandyford Office Park). This 19th century reservoir is easy to miss. Here, for the convenience of the passing Luas commuters, is a comprehensive tour of Stillorgan's three secret lakes. And if you ever swam here, please comment.

On a technical note - I have now hacked my GF1's firmware. All previous videos were with the default firmware. This is a stable set using AVCHD 25P and FCP for colour correction. The long lens shots are a crappy Nikon fit Hoya 75-260 f4.5 with a half centimetre of fungus in the front. Sound is a Zoom H1N1 hanging in a full wind sock. Sound is quiet because the reservoir feels quiet when you're there.

PREMIER SUITES Dublin Sandyford

PREMIER SUITES Dublin Sandyford is located in the centre of Sandyford Business Park, which is home to more than 200 international companies and is located just 10 kilometres south of Dublin City. The LUAS tram line runs adjacent to the apartments, making access to the City Centre and Dundrum Town Centre quick and easy.

Our spacious one and two bedroomed self-catering apartments offer living rooms, balconies and fully-fitted kitchens, making us the ideal choice for both the corporate guest and family breaks.

10 Minutes of TRAM's in Dublin IRELAND

Enjoy the compilation of LUAS trams in beautiful scenic Dublin City in IRELAND.

LUAS (pronounced [ˈl̪ˠuəsˠ]; Irish for speed) is a tram/light rail system in Dublin, Ireland. There are two main lines: the Green Line, which began operating on 30 June 2004, and the Red Line which opened on 26 September 2004. Since then, both lines have been extended and split into different branches further out of the city. The two lines, as of 2017, now intersect and connect within Dublin city centre. The system now has 67 stations and 42.5 kilometres (26.4 mi) of revenue track, which in 2018 carried 41.8 million passengers, an increase of 11.2% compared to 2017.

LUAS is operated by Transdev, under tender from Transport Infrastructure Ireland.

LAUNCH
The original launch date for LUAS was to be 2003, but delays in construction saw this date pushed back by a year. An advertising campaign took place to inform the public of the development of the system, while construction was taking place. Construction finished in February 2004 and a period of testing and driver training began. 30 June 2004 was decided on as the official launch date of the Green Line. The first tram went into service for the general public at 3 p.m. Several days of free travel and a family fun weekend took place to launch the system. The Red Line opened on 26 September 2004, with six days of free travel for the general public.

ON-BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS
Since 2010 all on-board LUAS announcements are in both Irish and English.

Explore the sights of Dublin City or go for a ride in Ticknock woodlands

Dublin is the capital and largest city of Ireland. Situated on a bay on the east coast, at the mouth of the River Liffey, it lies within the province of Leinster. It is bordered on the south by the Dublin Mountains, a part of the Wicklow Mountains range. It has an urban area population of 1,173,179, while the population of the Dublin Region (formerly County Dublin) as of 2016 was 1,347,359.The population of the Greater Dublin Area was 1,904,806 per the 2016 census. There is archaeological debate regarding precisely where Dublin was established by the Gaels in or before the 7th century AD.[16] Later expanded as a Viking settlement, the Kingdom of Dublin, the city became Ireland's principal settlement following the Norman invasion.[16] The city expanded rapidly from the 17th century and was briefly the second largest city in the British Empire before the Acts of Union in 1800. Following the partition of Ireland in 1922, Dublin became the capital of the Irish Free State, later renamed Ireland.

Dublin is a historical and contemporary centre for education, the arts, administration and industry. As of 2018 the city was listed by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC) as a global city, with a ranking of Alpha −, which places it amongst the top thirty cities in the world.
Ticknock is an area in Sandyford in Dublin at the northeastern foothills of Dublin Mountains which has become a suburban area in the past decade. Once known mainly as the area at the foot of, and providing access to, Three Rock, it is now built-up with apartments, shops and houses between the M50 motorway to the north and the hills to the south.
