Día de Muertos en la Perla de la Huasteca - El Xantolo en Tantoyuca, Veracruz
En Tantoyuca, un pequeño pueblo en la Huasteca veracruzana se celebra un Día de Muertos muy auténtico: La Fiesta del Xantolo o de Todos Los Santos.
Tantoyuca se ubica al Norte Del Estado de Veracruz y es conocida como la Perla de las Huastecas.Su población es de poco más de 100 mil habitantes, y muchos de ellos aún hablan Tenek, el idioma Huasteco.
El 31, 1 y 2 de noviembre, el pueblo se embarca en una gran celebración en memoria a las personas que dejaron este mundo.
En las calles y plaza del pueblo está presente la algarabía que anuncia la llegada del Xantolo. La palabra Xantolo viene del náhuatl Xantolon, y este del latín: Sanctorum), en referencia al día de Todos los Santos. Esta fiesta es el ejemplo perfecto del sincretismo que existe entre el catolicismo

Construida sobre un antiguo basamento prehispánico, la Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel es un detalle que vale la pena conocer. Además, si eres fanático de las ofrendas, este lugar fue declarado Centro Ceremonial del Maíz Nativo Mexicano. A escasos metros se encuentra el Jardín Lira, sede del Museo de Historia Natural y Vida Silvestre donde sus archivos y piezas guardan toda historia de aquismon. Al caminar por las calles del pueblo, de traza sencilla, encuentras la plaza principal donde se instaló el monumento a la Madre Huasteca, representada por una mujer tének.

The Basilica of St. John Lateran, also referred to as the Cathedral of Rome (full papal name major archpriest cathedral of the Most Holy Savior and Saints John the Baptist and Evangelist in lateran[7]; in Latin: Archibasilica Sanctissimi Salvatoris et Sanctorum Ioannis Baptistae et Ioannis Evangelistae in Lateran), is the mother church of the diocese of Rome , currently governed by Pope Francis through Cardinal Archpriest Angelo De Donatis.
It is the first of the four major papal basilicas and the oldest and most important basilica in the West[8]. Located on the Hill of the Celio, the basilica is the material representation of the Holy See, which has its residence here.
The basilica and the vast surrounding complex (including the Pontifical Lateran Palace, the Palace of the Canons, the Pontifical Roman Major Seminary and the Pontifical Lateran University) enjoy the privileges of extraterritoriality recognized by the Italian Republic to the Holy See which therefore has full and exclusive jurisdiction.
The official name is Papal Archbasilica of the Most Holy Saviour and Saints John the Baptist and Evangelist in the Lateran[7]. Pope Sylvester I, in the fourth century, dedicated it to the Most Holy Savior; then Pope Sergius III, in the ninth century, added the dedication to St. John the Baptist; finally Pope Lucius II, in the twelfth century, also included St. John the Evangelist[7]. It is called archbasilica because it is the most important of the four major papal basilicas[9]; more precisely, she has the honorary title of Omnium Urbis et Orbis Ecclesiarum Mater et Caput, or Mother and Head of all the Churches of the City and the World[10]. Finally, it is called in Laterano, or Lateranense; Lateranus was a cognomen of the gens Claudia[11], and in the area where the basilica arose there were possessions (horti) of that family.
The basilica was built in the fourth century in the area then known as Horti Laterani, an ancient land possession of the Lateran family confiscated and became part of the imperial properties at the time of Nero[12]. In 161 Marcus Aurelius built a palace in the area. At the end of the second century Septimius Severus had a fortification built on a part of the fund (the Castra Nova equitum singularium); subsequently the Horti returned to the property of the Lateran family.
The land and the palace that stood there came to the emperor Constantine when he married in 307 his second wife, Fausta, daughter of the ex-emperor Maximian and sister of the usurper Maxentius. The residence was therefore known, at that time, with the name of Domus Faustae and Constantine disposed of it as personal property when Maxentius won at the battle of Ponte Milvio, in 312.
The Aulic Christian tradition traces the victory back to a premonitory vision that in the motto in hoc signo vinces would have pushed the Emperor to paint the Christian symbol of the cross on the shields of his soldiers. Victorious, Constantine would have given, as a sign of gratitude to Christ, the ancient lands and the residence of the Laterans to the bishop of Rome, on an uncertain date, but associated with the papacy of Miltiades (310-314). On the site of the ancient castra was built the primitive basilica, consecrated by Miltiades to the Redeemer, in the aftermath of the edict of Milan of the year 313 that legalized Christianity. In the domus, which became the papal seat, the council was held in that same year with which Donatism was declared heresy.
The official dedication of the basilica to the Most Holy Saviour was made by Pope Sylvester I in 324, who declared the church and the adjoining Lateran Palace Domus Dei (house of God).

For any of you visiting Puebla, you can’t miss getting shots of the famous volcano-Popocatepetl! It is still active and the drive to Chipilo “Little Italy” has amazing views of this volcano.

La Huasteca se prepara para su máxima fiesta: la celebracion del Día de Muertos o mejor conocido en la región como Xantolo.
Las cuadrillas compuestas por bailarines saldrán a las calles enmascarados. La danza es una ofrenda a las almas que dejaron este mundo.
Las danzas no se pueden explicar sin su elemento clave, las mascaras, las cuales son elaboradas minuciosamente por los artesanos de la Huasteca. En Tantoyuca, Veracruz aprendimos sobre la creación artesanal de las máscaras y la importancia que tienen para esta celebración.
Aquí los artesanos vierten su creatividad en la madera donde hacen volar su imaginación en todos los sentidos.

La Scala Santa di Roma
Propriamente, l'edificio chiamato Scala Santa è un complesso edilizio fatto edificare alla fine del XVI secolo da papa Sisto V come nuovo patriarchio del vescovo di Roma, in sostituzione del precedente, demolito per la nuova costruzione. Realizzato da Domenico Fontana nel 1589, il palazzo comprende:
la Scala Santa vera e propria, affiancata da altre quattro rampe di scale, due alla sua destra e altrettante alla sua sinistra;
la cappella di San Lorenzo in Palatio, detta Sancta Sanctorum, cioè la cappella privata del papa, vescovo di Roma, fino agli inizi del XIV secolo; è in questa cappella che è custodita l'Acheropita lateranense, ossia la pala d'altare della cappella papale;
l'oratorio di San Silvestro in Palatio, cui si accede dalla prima rampa di scale a destra;
affiancano l'edificio l'oratorio del Santissimo Sacramento al Laterano e
il Triclinium Leoninum.

Der Kölner Dom (offizieller Name Hohe Domkirche St. Petrus) ist eine römisch-katholische Kirche in Köln unter dem Patrozinium des Apostels Petrus. Der Kölner Dom ist mit 157,38 Metern Höhe nach dem Ulmer Münster (161,53 Meter) das zweithöchste Kirchengebäude Europas sowie das dritthöchste der Welt. Die riesige Fläche der Westfassade mitsamt den beiden Türmen von über 7100 m² ist bis heute nirgendwo übertroffen worden. Von 1880 bis 1884 war der Kölner Dom das höchste Gebäude der Welt. Er ist zudem die meistbesuchte Sehenswürdigkeit Deutschlands: 2001 wurden fünf Millionen, seit 2004 jährlich sechs Millionen Besucher aus aller Welt gezählt, im Durchschnitt etwa 20.000 pro Tag. Cologne Cathedral (Latin: Ecclesia Cathedralis Sanctorum Petri et Mariae, officially Hohe Domkirche St. Petrus, English: High Cathedral of Saints Peter and Mary) is a Roman Catholic church in Cologne, Germany. It has the largest façade of any church in the world; you can see the main front doors here from top to bottom, filmed on a foggy and humid summer night. Cologne Cathedral is Germany's most visited landmark, attracting an average of 20,000 people a day. The construction of Cologne Cathedral was begun in 1248 and was halted in 1473, leaving it unfinished. Work restarted in the 19th century and was completed, to the original plan, in 1880. It is 144.5 metres (474 ft) long, 86.5 m (284 ft) wide and its two towers are approximately 157 m (515 ft) tall. The cathedral is the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe and has the second-tallest spires (after Ulm Minster in Ulm, Baden-Württemberg, Germany - its sole steeple is 161.5 m tall). Climbing the steps on hands and knees is an act of Catholic Penance and hard on the knees.
The twenty eight steps which are now protected by wooden boards were transported from Jerusalem to Rome, in the 4th century by Saint Helena.
Martin Luther, the founder of Protestantism is believed to have climbed the steps in the early 1500s.
