Sam Roi Yot Trip, Prachuap Khiri Khan
Sam Roi Yot National Park - City Video Guide
When you’re ready to experience the calming natural beauty of one of Thailand’s premier coastal sanctuaries, take a tour of Sam Roi Yot National Park.
The park’s name describes it very well: “Khao Sam Roi Yot” translates to “Mountains with 300 peaks.” These numerous limestone precipices stand tall in the warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand, and you can get a fantastic view of them via a boat ride. Additional Sam Roi Yot National Park sightseeing is made easy by walkways that wind through the freshwater marshes that make up much of the park’s acreage. Bring binoculars to catch glimpses of over 300 types of birds inhabiting the marshes, as well as monkeys and deer in the forests clinging to the mountains.
Don’t forget to stop by the Kuha Karuhas Pavilion, a small structure nestled within a cave. This is the spot to pause, breathe in the scent of an unfamiliar landscape, and remember how small you are in the scope of the universe.

Khao Sam Rio Yot National Park, Prachuap Khiri Khan,
Khao Sam Roi Yot is one of the most breathtaking national parks in Thailand. It is located between Pranburi and Pracuap Khiri Khan.
Sam Phraya Beach - Sam Roi Yot National Park - Prachuap Khiri Khan Thailand
Sam Phraya beach on the east coast of Thailand gets its name from 3 of the Thai kings from the Ayutthaya area that visitors the beach, the most famous was king Naresuan. It’s part of the Sam Roi Yot National Park.
While the highlights of Sam Roi Yot are all found at least a few hundred metres inland, the area also has a handful of low-key beaches that are fine for an hour or two of lounging. At all of them, the water is not particularly clear and a very shallow approach means you'll need to wade for a while before swimming becomes possible.
Sam Phraya beach is a small and secluded stretch of sand with a small restaurant, coffeeshop and campground. Owing to a lack of outcrops, it tends to be windier, with slightly heavier surf than Phraya Nakhon and Laem Sala (though nothing that could be surfed). Sam Phraya is a fine spot for a picnic on the way down to Khao Daeng viewpoint, but otherwise not worth going out of the way for but worth a stop if you are exploring the area and are wanting to enjoy a bit of the ocean.

Khao Sam Roi Yot Rivers and Sai Cave
Khao Sam Roi Yot Rivers and Sai Cave
Khao Sam Roi Yot is a marine national park, it covers 98.08 km2 of which 69 km2 of wetlands have been classified as a Ramsar site since 2008.
The park includes Thailand's largest freshwater marsh.
A limestone massif of spectacular peaks including Khao Yai, Khao Tham Prathun, Khao Daeng, Khao Hup Chan and Khao Kan Bandai.
The most frequented is Khao Daeng (the Red Mountain), famous for its viewpoint and its large population of crab-eating macaque monkeys present all year round.
The highest peak culminates at 605 m.
According to local history, a Chinese merchant ship was beached during heavy storms times, resulting in three hundred survivors who sought refuge on an island.
The legend of the mountain with 300 peaks was born.

Sam Roi Yot Beach | Fried Bugs here in Beach Market | Prachuap Khiri Khan | Thailand | Alissa & Jay
We discovered Sam Roi Yot Beach on our previous trip to Pran Buri when we were on our way back home.
We were so enticed by the long stretch of this beach that we decided to come here again and explore this beach on the next trip.
Aaaaaand the next trip happened aaaaand here we were!
It’s much more peaceful than the Khao Ka Lok Beach as barely any people were around.
The water here was shallow even several tens of meters into the ocean.
Along the shoreline are hotels, resorts, and restaurants to enjoy the ambiance and delicious food, especially seafood.
Towards the end of the beach is the bustling beach market where street food including fruits, skewers, snacks, drinks, and bugs, just to name a few, are sold. This market only happens on Saturdays, so we were very fortunate to be there on the day itself.
At the end of the market is an area for people to sit and enjoy the food, music, and atmosphere.
Beyond that, there are beach activities like riding horses and riding on ATVs along the beach.
There is parking available for 40THB. However, you can even park by the street if there is space.
Be sure to get the full experience of Sam Roi Yot Beach by going on a Saturday.

Phraya Nakhon Cave - Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park - Hua Hin Thailand
Exploring Phraya Nakhon Cave has been my most memorable experience so far during my time in Thailand.
Before visiting Hua Hin, I hadn't heard of the place - but luckily for me, I was told about it from a local.
My journey to Phraya Nakhon Cave started at the entrance to Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, in Prachuap Khiri Khan province.
The climb to the cave took me about an hour and a half (including time for taking the video) and was divided into two parts.
You can either climb up and across the hill - which I did to capture that amazing view - or take a 5 minute longtail boat to Laem Sala beach. I suggest taking the boat if you want to save a bit of time and/or conserve some energy.
The second part of the hike starts at Laem Sala beach. You'll see signs that point to the start of the rocky path to Phraya Nakhon Cave. About half way up the climb is a view point, and a well needed resting point, where you'll be treated to some more great views of the beach and neighboring islands.
The climb up the hill goes through a forested section, where I came across some monkeys chilling high above in some trees. From there, it's just another 20 - 30 minutes to the base of the cave...
...and the reward was awesome! I really hope you enjoy the footage:)

Best of Beach Walk - The Secret Beach, Pranburi, Sam Roi Yot/Thailand
Hua Hin, the former fishing village. A lot has changed since I've lived here. The beautiful, sometimes very long sandy beaches have remained. In times like this in particular, it is a privilege to live in such a place. Sitting by the sea and listening to the waves. Watching the herons hunt for prey. Or walk or jog a few kilometers along the beach. These are free pleasures that we appreciate. When we can give food and other offerings to the monks early in the morning and they bless us, it makes us happy.
Of course there are also other activities such as riding a pony, surfing, kite boarding, banana boat riding or jet skiing. Or just play soccer or volleyball in the sand. There is something for everyone. Have fun.
