Exploring serene in beautiful gardens of village in IRAN 🇮🇷 Iran, Salmas city

Exploring serene in beautiful gardens of village in IRAN 🇮🇷 Iran, Salmas city

Rural life in Iran is deeply connected to the country’s rich cultural heritage and natural landscapes. Villages are often nestled in mountainous regions, plains, or near rivers, where traditional agriculture plays a central role in daily life. Many villagers engage in farming, growing crops like wheat, barley, and rice, or tending to orchards of pomegranates, figs, and walnuts. Livestock, including sheep, goats, and cattle, are also a vital part of rural livelihoods.

The architecture of rural homes is typically simple yet functional, often built with materials like adobe, stone, and wood. In some regions, houses are constructed on hillsides with terraces that provide space for gardens and stunning views of the surrounding scenery. Life in these villages is communal, with strong family ties and a deep sense of community. Traditional crafts, such as carpet weaving and pottery, are still practiced and passed down through generations.

Muharram Nights in IRAN 🇮🇷 How do Iranians mourn?! IRAN-Muharram Carnival in Salmas City
the night of Imam Hussein’s martyrdom and the mourning rituals in Iran:
The night of Imam Hussein’s martyrdom, known as Ashura, is a deeply significant event in Islamic history, particularly for Shia Muslims. Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, was martyred on the 10th day of Muharram in the year 680 AD during the Battle of Karbala. This event is a cornerstone of Shia faith and is commemorated with intense mourning and reflection.

Muharram in Iran 2024
🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹

In Iran, Ashura and the preceding nights are marked by a series of rituals and ceremonies that convey deep sorrow and reverence. The mourning period begins on the first day of Muharram and reaches its peak on the night of Ashura. Throughout this period, Iranians participate in various activities to honor Imam Hussein’s sacrifice:

1. Majlis (Gatherings): Special gatherings are held in mosques, community centers, and homes where religious scholars recount the events of Karbala, focusing on the suffering and heroism of Imam Hussein and his companions.
2. Noha and Marsiya (Elegies and Dirges): Poetic recitations and songs that describe the tragedy of Karbala are performed. These moving renditions often bring listeners to tears as they reflect on the hardships faced by Imam Hussein and his family.
3. Matam (Mourning Rituals): Participants engage in self-flagellation and chest-beating (known as ‘latmiyat’) as a physical expression of their grief and solidarity with Imam Hussein’s suffering.
4. Processions: Large processions, known as ‘dastah,’ are held where mourners walk through the streets chanting and often carrying symbolic representations of the battle, such as banners and replicas of Imam Hussein’s horse.
5. Taziyeh (Passion Plays): These are dramatic reenactments of the events of Karbala, performed in towns and villages across Iran. They serve both as a form of mourning and as a means of educating the community about the historical events.
6. Almsgiving and Charity: Acts of charity are encouraged during this period. Many Iranians prepare and distribute food and drinks to the public as a form of tribute and to earn spiritual merit.

Ashura is not only a time of mourning but also a period of profound spiritual reflection and communal unity for Iranians. It reinforces themes of sacrifice, justice, and resistance against oppression, which are central to Shia Islam.
