Have you heard of Saint Louis in France? French Saint Louis is not a city, but a person. Louis IX, commonly known as Saint Louis, was King of France from 1226 until his death in 1270 during the Eighth crusade. He is a saint and crusader. He accomplished a lot. If you are not familiar, the Crusades were a series of religious wars directed by the Christian Latin Church in the medieval period. There are many places and things named after Saint Louis. St. Louis, Missouri is also named after him, by the French colonists. Today, I’d like to tell you who Saint Louis was, and show you four beautiful places associated with Saint Louis in France. I promise you’d love all four of them. They are Sainte-Chapelle, Château de Vincennes, Aigues-Mortes and Le Grau-du-Roi. Let’s go! Allons-y!

In Lourmarin, one of France's most beautiful villages, we stayed at Villa Saint-Louis. It was a 17th Century coaching inn that fell into disrepair. The current owners bought it in 1988 and restored it to it's former beauty, making it a unique guest house filled with art and antiques.

Forest Park is the heart of St. Louis and the perfect place to explore by foot. We check out the free attractions, including the St. Louis Zoo, The Jewel Box, and the Missouri History Museum - all found along Forest Park. This area was developed during the St. Louis World's Fair of 1904 which commemorated the centennial of the Louisiana Purchase and the formed French territory city of St. Louis opened its doors to the world.
