Travel to Mont Salève in France, part 1|| Cable Car Trip || Balcony of Geneva || BD HuB
The Téléphérique du Salève is a passenger cable car connecting Veyrier (just across the French border from Geneva) with the Salève ridge.
The cable car was inaugurated in 1932, replacing a now-disused rack railway (for which one of the tunnels can still be seen walking up).
The base station in Veyrier (located a short walk from the border crossing) is at an altitude of 432m, with the top station at 1097m. The cable car climbs very steeply due to the near-vertical face of the ridge, with an ascension of 665m in an overall length of 1172m.
The cars carry 60 people each and at weekends during the summer the service runs every few minutes, with a less regular service during the week. A limited weekend-only service runs in winter.
Tickets are sold in both Euros and Swiss Francs and a discount is offered for holders of passes for Transports Publics Genevois.

This walk follows the river Aire from the point in goes underground near Pont-Rouge upstream to the state border where it flows in to Switzerland in Saint-Julien-en-Genevois. There is a 15+ minutes part when the river flows away from publicly accessible areas, otherwise the walk is on the shores of the river. The journey goes through Lancy, Onex, Confignon, Perly, Bernex and and a little of Soral, ending in Saint-Julien-en-Genevois.

We take regular motorbike trips into the French countryside when the weather is good. We never go out with the intention of finding something unique or amazing but almost always run into it anyway. This video captures a few of the ruins and castles we found just by accident by wandering the 'less traveled' roads in the countryside. Of course, my fiance's fabulous sense of direction helps a lot.

リオンを出発した後は、一路スイスのジュネーブへ。この後、又、ＴＧＶに乗ってパリへ戻りその後、ドーバーを越えてイギリスＧＰを観るためにシルバーストンへ行く訳ですから不思議な移動になりますが、完全な組み込みオプショナル・ツアーとして最初から予定に入ってました。当時（バブル期）ならではの盛り沢山な行程ですが、個人旅行でしたら、この日程ではなかなか組めない行程ですから、今になればありがたい事かもしれませんね💕
スイスから連想するのは、今ならさしずめ一番にＷＨＯ（世界保健機関）ですが(^^ゞ、当時のイメージはアルプス・ユングフラウ・モンブラン・マッターホルン・アイガーなど「アルプスの少女ハイジ」や「サウンド・オブ・ミュージック」に描かれる壮大な山脈群、国際連盟や国際赤十字、ＩＯＣ（国際オリンピック委員会）などの国際的な機関が集中する国、ロレックス・オメガ・スウォッチ・タグホイヤーなどの時計、バレエ漫画で有名なローザンヌ…程度の知識で単にミーハー気分で観光旅行を楽しんでますが、今回、立ち寄り場所を色々調べている内に、ジュネーブとサヴォイア間の紛争やスイスがなぜ永世中立国の道を選択したのかなど、スイスの歴史などにも非常に興味が沸くようになりました。

上記の名前で現在マップを検索すると「Transportus AG ルツェルンの人事福利厚生財団（独:Personalfürsorgestiftung der Fa. Transportus AG Luzern）」という建物が表示されますが、中継地リヨンからだとルツェルンはレマン湖を挟んでほぼ反対側(^^ゞレマン湖は琵琶湖よりやや小さめの湖だとしても大津から長浜くらいの距離がありますので、多分、看板だけでLuzernへは行ってないと思います。

Annecy is a quaint little town in the Haute-Savoie region of South-eastern France. Walking around Annecy old town is really a visual delight. With its charming canals lined by flower boxes, its small lovely bridges and beautiful coloured houses, Annecy carries really well its nickname, Venice of the Alps.
We travelled to Annecy during the month of August.
How To Reach Annecy:
The distance between Annecy and Geneva airport is about 45 minutes drive by car.
We stayed in Saint-Julien-en-Genevois and drove to Annecy which was around 35 minutes by car.
