SWEET & SAVORY Indian STREET FOOD Tour of Charminar | Hyderabad, India
In November of 2018, I embarked upon the most epic trip of my career: a 21-day, 7-city trip to India with my good friend Sam. It was the second time that year that I visited the country. The first was in January, and it changed my life. For months I dreamed of going back and experiencing more of this incredible country, and I finally made it happen! After a whirlwind 36 hours in Pune, we made our way to Hyderabad and went crazy, filming, eating, and experiencing as much as we possibly could!
Subscribe to Sam & Audrey:
Our second day in Hyderabad continued with a visit to the city’s Old Town, which includes the famous monument and mosque known as Charminar, and of course, more local eateries! Come along with us as we explore the Old Town of Hyderabad!
My Film Making Kit ►
Sam and I started off with a stop at Nimrah Café and Bakery, a popular spot that is famous for its tea and biscuits. We watched the bakers make the biscuits in the kitchen, and then tried a massive tray filled with 25 different types, including Osmania, coconut with cherry, and chocolate-cashew. The coconut with cherry was rich and sweet and packed with shredded coconut. The chocolate-cashew was flaky and crumbly and just plain phenomenal, and I also had an awesome sugar sandwich cookie with cream and lemon, and that’s coming from someone who isn’t a big biscuit fan!
Next, we tried Nimrah’s famous Irani Chai, which was milky, frothy, and bursting with amazing flavors including ginger and cinnamon. The biscuits were even better when I dipped them into the chai.
Our next destination was Charminar (which translates to “four minarets,” after the monument’s four ornate towers, which are supported by four grand arches), a monument and mosque that was built in 1591 and is listed as an archaeological and architectural treasure by the Archaeological Survey of India. It cost us 300 rupees, over ten times the rate for locals, to get into Charminar, but after we slowly ascended the narrow, winding staircase and emerged onto a balcony overlooking the city, it was worth it. From there, we had a spectacular view of much of the city, including the gates that served as the entrance to the Old City. The architecture was gorgeous!
After a quick selfie with a fan at Charminar, it was off to Milan Juice Centre for some juices and fruit salad so we could cool down from the 95-degree heat! I had a drink called a Mango Malai, which is a super fatty smoothie made from heated whole milk and yogurt. It was very rich, but also very good and just what I needed to cool off!
Our next stop was Al-Akbar Fast Food Corner, where we tried boneless Chicken 65 and ginger chicken along with some parathas. The chicken 65 was kind of like masala chicken nuggets. It was chewy with a slightly crunchy exterior, and I absolutely loved the masala flavor! The ginger chicken was bursting with ginger flavor, had an orange-ginger sauce on it. It was hot, super tender, and absolutely delicious, and the paratha was out of this world when I dipped it into the spicy orange-ginger sauce!
Our final stop of the afternoon was Matwale Doodh Ghar, where we got some lassi, a creamy, traditional Indian yogurt drink, which was the perfect way to cool down my mouth after that spicy chicken and from the heat outside! On our way there, Sam and I got a complete sensory overload as we strolled down the streets of Old Hyderabad in the shadow of Charminar. There are tons of vendors everywhere, the city is so busy, and there’s always tons of things going on around you.
My lassi was super thick and creamy, almost like a chunky yogurt with a bit of raspberry. It was so refreshing and exactly what I needed after a long afternoon under the hot Indian sun!

There are 5 to 6 rides in that 2 rides not working and the water in few rides are literally stagnated. Wave pool Doesn't have wave. The staff behavior was worst. Staff has no training or helping attitude whatsoever. One of the worst places i have ever visited. Zero value for money, Over crowded, No safety, i would personally never recommend anyone to go there with family(Couples creating nuisance all around the park Specially In Wave Pool and Lake side Park). Food courts are worst and highly expensive. Zero Customer Satisfaction. Bed smell all around due to beside Lake. Spend some more money and go some where else.

Chowmahalla Palace, Hyderabad
Chowmahalla Palace or Chowmahallatuu (4 Palaces), is a palace of the Nizams of Hyderabad state. It was the seat of the Asaf Jahi dynasty and was the official residence of the Nizams of Hyderabad while they ruled their state. The palace was built by Nizam Salabat Jung. The palace remains the property of Barkat Ali Khan Mukarram Jah, heir of the Nizams. Other members of the Hyderabadi Nizam family have also wed here.
The place is named chowmahalla, which means four palaces. The word char, and its variation chau, means four and the word mahal means palace in Urdu and Hindi. It is more likely derived from Farsi words, as it was the official language of the Hyderabad State at the time. All ceremonial functions including the accession of the Nizams and receptions for the Governor-General were held at this palace.
The palace is located in the old city in Hyderabad near the Charminar.

Golconda Fort | Grandest Fort in India| Golconda Fort History| Places to see in Hyderabad |Telangana
About Golconda Fort :
Golconda Fort Hyderabad is an outstanding example of brilliant engineering and magical architecture. An impressive structure, which once, would have bewitched every onlooker, stands majestically even today. Golconda Fort is sure to impress you with not only with that highly advanced techniques were used back then and sturdy structure, but also with an outstanding view of the surrounding city.
Established in the approximately 12th Century by the Kakatiya Kings, this huge Golconda Fort with eight gates and 87 bastions was later built by Qutub Shahi Kings
The name Golconda Fort has a legend behind it. As per the story, a shepherd boy was once walking on this hill when he had come across a God statue. The news about the shepherd boy and his findings reached the then ruler of Kakatiya Dynasty. The King then decided to build a fort on the hill, which then came to be known as Golconda (Shepherd’s Hill) Fort.
However, almost 200 years later, the fort came under Bahamani rulers. Later Qutub Shahi Kings took the fort under their control and extended it further. The fort was fortified and expanded during the reign of Bahamani rulers and Qutub Shahi Dynasty. Later in 1687, this fort came under the rule of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. It was then the fort was left unattended.
At present, the Golconda Fort constitutes a complex layout of palaces, mosques and pavilion, all of which unfortunately are in ruins now.
It is said that Golconda used to be a famous diamond market attracting merchants from all over the world. It was at Golconda that the famous Kohinoor and Hope diamonds along with others such as The Regent Diamond, Darya-e Nur, Nur-Ul-Ain Diamond were stored.
Architecture of Golconda Fort
With perimeters of around 11 kilometers, the fort has 15 to 18 foot high walls. It has huge gates that have pointed iron spikes on them. This protected the fort from Elephants damaging the fort as well as enemy attacks. Golconda fort presents a mesmerizing architecture which will astonish you at each and every step.
The system of acoustics in the Fort is something which attracts each and every visitor. The sound of clapping at the entrance can be heard at the ‘Bala Hissar' which is the highest point and almost a kilometre away. This system was apparently used for communication purposes, especially to alert royal in case of any attack.
Other attractive features of the Fort include water supply system which does leave many marvelling at the advancement of the technical and scientific knowledge while constructing this fort. Another popular aspect is the 'Rahban' cannon.
Ramdas’ prison is one of the popular spots inside the fort. According to legend, Ramdas who was a revenue collector in Abdul Hasan Shah's court was imprisoned. During his imprisonment, he carved Hindu deities on the wall of his cell. One can see many carvings of Hindu Lord Hanuman on the wall, which are now smeared with holy vermillion. A holy lamp or two (diyas) is also kept lit in front of the carvings.
The main entrance of the fort is named Fatesh Darwaza, which means Victory Gate in English. It was named after Aurangzeb’s army had entered the fort through this gate. Not just for the victory procession of his army, this gate is also attracts visitors with its marvellous acoustics.
Showcasing an architectural excellence, this gate has been built in such a way that if one claps at a certain point of the entrance, then the sound of clapping can be heard at the top most pavilion. Another attractive feature of Golconda Fort is the 80 feet tree which is said to be more than 800 years old.
The fort also consists of many mounted cannons and drawbridges. Huge halls, mosques, eight gateways, and stables add on to the immense enormity of its magnificent architecture.
