Kaesong, North korea, industrial region, Manwoldae palace, ancient capital of Goryeo, border,
Kaesong (Gaeseong; Korean pronunciation: [kɛ.sʌŋ]) is a city in North Hwanghae Province in the southern part of North Korea, a former Directly-Governed City, and the capital of Korea during the Taebong kingdom and subsequent Goryeo dynasty. The city is near the Kaesong Industrial Region close to the border with South Korea and contains the remains of the Manwoldae palace. Called Songdo while it was the ancient capital of Goryeo, the city prospered as a trade centre that produced Korean ginseng. Kaesong now functions as the DPRK's light industry centre. It was also known by the Japanese pronunciation of its name, Kaijō, during the Japanese occupation from 1910 to 1945.
Due to the city's proximity to the border with South Korea, Kaesong hosts cross-border economic exchanges between the two countries as well as the jointly-run Kaesong Industrial Region.
As of 2009 the city had a population of 192,578.Beautiful places to travel to game :

Mountains of Kaesong
Located in the center of Korea, Kaesong is the southernmost city of North Korea. It is bordered by Kaepung, Changpung, Panmun, and Kumchon counties. Kanghwa Island of Incheon Municipality lies just south, beyond a narrow channel. It covers an area of 1,309 km², the urban district is surrounded by Songak (Songak-san; 송악산; 松嶽山) (489 m) and Pongmyong mountains. The city center surrounds the much smaller Mt. Janam (103 m), on which is located the city's iconic Kim Il Sung statue.
In the northern part of Kaesong, the end of the Ahobiryŏng range creates the northernmost border of Kaesong City. This range consists of Mts. Chŏnma (757 m), Sŏnggŏ, Myoji (764 m), Suryong (716 m), Chesŏk (749 m), Hwajang (558 m), and Ogwan. With the exception of the mountainous northeastern region, however, most areas of Kaesong consist of low hills with the height less than 100 meters.[4]
The Imjin River flows along the northeastern border line of the city and the Ryesong River (禮成江) (Ryeseong-gang; 례성강) (transliterated in South Korea as Yeseong-gang; 예성강) runs along the western border to the mouth of the Han River. In addition to the two rivers, small and large rivers and streams such as the Samich'ŏn, Wŏlamch'ŏn, Chukbaech'ŏn, Kŭmsŏngch'ŏn, and Sach'ŏn rivers drain into the Han. The river basin located in the southwest of Kaesong has spacious alluvial plains such as P'ungdŏkbŏl, Singwangbŏl, and Samsŏngbŏl.[4]
The geology consists of the Proterozoic, Cenozoic, and Paleozoic strata and Mesozoic intrusive granite. The underground resources include gold, zinc, copper, fluorspar, limestone, granite, and kaolin. The soil comprises generally brown forest soil while the areas drained by Yesŏng, Imjin, and Han rivers consist of mostly alluvial and saline soil. The climate is generally warm and moderate, with an average annual temperature of around 10 ℃. The coldest month is January, with an average temperature of −5.9 ℃, while the hottest month is August, with an average temperature of 24.7 ℃. The average annual rainfall ranges from 1,300 to 1,400 millimeters. The duration of frost-free period is 180 days — the longest in North Korea. About 55% of Kaesong is forested (80% of the trees are pines), and 40 species of mammals and 250 birds inhabit the area.[4]
Administrative divisions[edit]
Before 2002, Kaesŏng Directly Governed City was divided into one city (Kaesŏng itself) and three counties; Changpung County, Changpung County and Panmunjom. In 2003, P'anmun-gun and part of Kaesŏng-si were separated from Kaesŏng Directly Governed City and merged to form Kaesong Industrial Region. The remaining part of Kaesŏng joined North Hwanghae Province in 2002. Kaesong is currently divided into 24 administrative districts known as Dong, as well as three villages (ri).[5]

People Move to New Houses in South and North Hamgyong Provinces and Rason City
Pyongyang, November 30, 2020 (KCNA) -- New socialist villages appeared in northeastern coastal areas of the country that had been battered by terrible natural disasters.
New houses for thousands of families have been built in the disaster-stricken areas such as Sinpho and Tanchon cities, Riwon, Toksong and Pukchong counties in South Hamgyong Province, Chongjin and Kim Chaek cities, Orang and Kilju counties in North Hamgyong Province and Sonbong District in Rason City.
Ceremonies for moving to the new houses were held.
Speakers at the ceremonies warmly congratulated the residents on moving to new houses.
They stressed that the newly built cozy houses are associated with the great patriotic devotion made by Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un through his ceaseless journey for field guidance to bring happiness and welfare to the people.
Licenses for house were conveyed to the new house owners.
Some of them made speeches to represent their pledge to live up to the Supreme Leader's benevolence.
Then they began to move to the new houses.
They danced to cheerful music, being greatly excited to have new houses.
Officials visited the families that moved to the new houses and congratulated them.

Changbaishan's Dell Forest / 长白山自然保护区
Heaven Lake (Tianchi) / 천지 / 天池 in the Changbaishan National Nature Reserve / 长白山自然保护区 is a crater lake on the border between China and North Korea within a caldera atop the volcanic Paektu Mountain / 백두산 (I read somewhere that the Chinese were not happy about North Korean nuke tests as it may have disturbed the volcano which last erupted in the 1700s), a part of the Baekdudaegan mountain range and the Changbai mountain range. It is located partly in Ryanggang Province, North Korea and partly in Jilin Province, northeastern China.
The caldera which contains Heaven Lake was created by the 946 eruption of Paektu Mountain. The lake has a surface elevation of 2,189.1 m (7,182 ft). The lake covers an area of 9.82 km2 (3.79 sq mi) with a south-north length of 4.85 km (3.01 mi) and east-west length of 3.35 km (2.08 mi). The average depth of the lake is 213 m (699 ft) and maximum depth of 384 m (1,260 ft). From mid-October to mid-June, it is typically covered with ice.
Considered to be the birthplace of the Korean people, the Manchus similarly consider it to be sacred, as the mountain was taboo for most of Qing China's history. The area is also associated with Korean independence fighters during the Japanese occupation. Kim Jong-il, echoing the legend, claims the mountain as his birthplace as well. In 1962, the mountain was split and given to China by North Korea in a border agreement, which to this day remains a highly controversial move. South Korea does not acknowledge the agreement. Heaven Lake is also alleged to be home to the Lake Tianchi Monster.
Main stops on the Northern Slope:
- Tian Chi/ Heaven Lake / 천지 / 天池 / 长白山天池 is the Highlight of Changbaishan, this deep-blue volcanic crater lake at the top of the mountain is surrounded by 16 mountain peaks. In some years, it keeps being frozen even in June. The lake marks the boundary of China and North Korea. The mountain belongs to the five holy mountains of Korea. You have to take the Jeep to get to the mountain (16km). The walking path from the waterfall to the Heaven Lake is closed! It is less crowded in the afternoon hours.
- Changbai Waterfall / 长白瀑布 (68 meter) Erdaobai River runs off Heaven Lake and creates the longest volcanic waterfall in the world. Snowmelt from the Heavens Lake cascades down a volcanic landscape.
- On the way to the waterfall there natural hot springs- you can enjoy a bath in the bathhouse. The springs are hot enough to boil eggs and corn.
- Emerald Lake. The Pond is surrounded by trees and cliffs. A waterfall of 25 meters flows into the pond with green water.
- Underground forest (12km from the north gate) is a nice walking area.

2017 Rason International Trade Exhibition RITE
Learn more at:
ABOUT THIS VIDEO
This is a video clip recorded at the 7th Rason International Trade Exhibition (RITE), which was held in the Rason Special Economic Zone (SEZ) from August 7th to 10th 2017.
Despite being a trade fair many exhibitors from China and overseas use this opportunity to sell products and merchandise directly to the local North Korean people. This operates very similar to a local market (시장) or ’Jangmadang’ (장마당) where goods are bought, sold and bargained for.
About The Rason International Trade Exhibition (RITE)
This annual trade and investment event allows both North Korean and international businesses to promote and sell various products such as medicine, medicinal products & equipment, electronics, services, light industry products, housewares, processed seafood, agricultural products, and locally produced food, beverages, and traditional alcohols.
About the Rason Special Economic Zone
The Rason Special Economic Zone, earlier called the Rajin-Sonbong Economic Special Zone, was established in the early 1990s by the North Korean government near Rason to promote economic growth through foreign investment and trade.
The concept similar to the Special Economic Zones set up by the People's Republic of China in the late 1970’s and 1980’s to pilot market economics business and investment projects in a designated controlled area. It is located in the Northeast corner of Korea bordering both China and Russia and acts as an ice-free port for all three countries.
The Rason SEZ offers tax and business incentives to attract foreign investment and promote trade.
