5 Historical Places You Don't Want to Miss in Petach Tikva Israel Walking Tours Accessible and Free

Petah Tikva also known as Mother of the Moshavot, is a city in the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Area about ten and a half kilometers east of Tel Aviv. It was founded in 1878, mainly by Jews who came from Jerusalem to establish a farming community or a Moshava.
Petah Tikva takes its name (meaning Door of Hope) from the biblical allusion in Hosea 2:15: ... and make the valley of Achor a door of hope.

In today’s walking tour in Petach Tikva we will follow a trail of a suggested historical tour that I found on an old map published by Israel’s Society for the Protection of Nature. It includes 16 historical sites in the center of the city of Petach Tikva. The path is accessible for people with wheelchairs.

We will start off on Rothschild street and look for the Edmond Binjamin De Rothschild Square which is near the Petach Tikva Shuk Open Market.

We will also pass by Herzl and Jabotinsky streetsname for two important thinkers and leaders of the Zionist moverment.

At the square in honor of the founders of the town or the city of Petach Tikva Yehoshua Stamper and others we will read historical signs and learn about the history of the Moshava Petach Tikva and we will also visit the Great synagogue name for James Yaakov Rothschild, father of the Baron Edmond Meir De Rothschild who funded its building in the end of the 19th century.

About David Ha’ivri: I am a Jewish man who loves the land and people of Israel. For over 15 years I led strategic and geopolitical VIP tours in the Shomron for influencers from around the world and from all types of backgrounds, religions and political schools of thought. At some point it dawned on me that my passion is tourism, the land of Israel and sharing its amazing history and beauty with my friends. To turn that passion into a profession I enrolled in the Yad Yitzchak Ben Tzvi Tour Guide school and have become a licensed Israel Tour Guide. The rest is history in the making. So join me on my journey to try to figure out why this very special land has been and still is so important for so many people throughout the ages.

I also provide consultancy for people who would like to build relationships between Israel and movers and shakers around the world for the common benefit of our peoples and shared values.

My favorite singers are Cat Stevens, Harry Chapin, Leonard Cohen, Meir Ariel and Kaveret, but not in any particular order. Ask me about the stories of Pogie, doctor's orders for monthly visits to the terminal, the baffled king composing Hallelujah and peace train.

Titanic Survivor Claims an Iceberg Didn't Destroy the Ship

Have you ever met a person who hasn’t ever heard the story of Titanic? Unlikely. Even if you ask a 10-year-old, they’ll tell you exactly what took down the gigantic ship. However, some survivors of the sinking legend would beg to differ. Here’s one of their stories, and it has nothing to do with an iceberg.

Armenian publicist Vaghinak Byurat was 25 years old in the spring of 1912. He described what happened on his journey to America on the most famous ship in the world in his memoirs. He’s never mentioned an iceberg hitting the Titanic, and always spoke about an explosion. And if what he said was true, something must have caused that huge explosion...

💥 Btw, guys, there is a cat hidden in this video. If you can spot our furry little guy, you're much more attentive than most people! Do you accept the challenge? 😽

SUMMARY:
- Armenian publicist Vaghinak Byurat was 25 years old in the spring of 1912. He described what happened on his journey to America on the most famous ship in the world in his memoirs.
- In 1912, Vaghinak published some books together with his father, a famous Armenian writer. His task was to take the books to America.
- They went to bed rather late on April 14, just like on the other nights. Shortly after midnight, something that sounded like a big explosion woke everyone up.
- None of the crew members wanted to say anything, but a few minutes later it was impossible to deny that the Titanic was going underwater.
- Vaghinak put his passport and money in a little bag and tied it around his neck. The Titanic’s bow was already underwater by that time. A lot of people in this situation wouldn’t have dared to take it to the open water.
- The water in the North Atlantic that night was just below freezing, at a scary 28 degrees Fahrenheit (-2 C). The young writer felt his arms and legs go numb, and he was understandably getting weaker and weaker every second.
- Then, he bumped into something. It was a lifeboat! But it was so overcrowded they pushed the young man with a paddle when he tried to stick to the boat.
- Vaghinak woke up alive on board another ship. That ship was the Carpathia, and it was en route to New York with lucky survivors on board.
- 12 days later, a woman came into the room. She turned out to be the person who saved Vaghinak. Missis Astor told the sailors that the young man was her son, and she wouldn’t let them go without him since she’d already lost her husband on the Titanic.
- Vaghinak lived a long and happy life and, as a great storyteller, he shared what happened to him many times. Interestingly, he’s never mentioned an iceberg hitting the Titanic, and always spoke about an explosion.
- It could have been a fire, and quite a lot of people actually believe that theory, saying that coal was burning in the ship’s hull.
- Another theory that explained the explosion claimed that there was a German U-boat involved in the sinking of Titanic.

Journey Through Israel - Travel Documentary

Israel means a lot of different things to many people, and is one of the most diverse and dynamic countries in the world. Even though it’s often associated with political unrest and conflict, it’s also a beautiful place to travel to, with spectacular natural beauty, lively cities, ancient historic sites, incredible cuisine, and friendly, welcoming people.

On this journey, I’m traveling through the Holy Land, a region important to the three main monotheistic religions, and what is known today as Israel and Palestine.

In this episode, I’m exploring Israel, a country that was established in 1948, but is located in a region that has been at the crossroads of religions and cultures for many centuries. From the beautiful beaches and dynamic streets of modern Tel Aviv, to the religious landmarks and atmospheric alleys of the Old City of Jerusalem. From the salty water of the Dead Sea to the surreal desert landscapes of the Negev. Along the way, I meet some of the people that live here, and taste some of the local food.

I’ll do so from a traveler’s perspective, focusing on the positive stories and things to do. But here and there I also mention the conflict between Israel and Palestine, since it has impacted the lives of many people in the region. For those interested in the politics and modern history of the region, however, I recommend to read, watch, and listen to as many different sources as you can.

This is my first long trip after the pandemic started, and I’m grateful for the chance to travel again. It’s also my second visit to the region, and therefore I use both new and older footage for this video.

Here’s a brief overview of the content in this video:

We begin this journey in Tel Aviv, Israel’s ‘beach city’. But it’s much more than that, it’s also an economic powerhouse and vibrant cultural center, known for its liberal and cosmopolitan attitude. The next stop is Caesarea, an interesting place for people who are interested in history. This ancient port city was an important place during Roman times, and was only recently excavated by archaeologists. Not far from here is Haifa, known particularly for its beautiful Bahai’s gardens.

I continue my travels in Akko, a stunning fortified city on the Mediterranean coast. Its winding alleys are a joy to get lost in, and it’s also worth discovering the underground tunnels. Driving onwards, I travel to the Golan Heights, an area popular for outdoor activities, with beautiful mountain landscapes and national parks. It’s also a contested place, as the Golan was captured by Israel from Syria, after Six Day War. As you travel in this region, you come across many reminders of the war.

Nazareth is one of Christianity’s holiest places, and the place where Jesus is said to have lived for many years. The Basilica of the Annunciation is the absolute highlight for many visitors, and the city is an important place for religious tourism. Also interesting is Nazareth Village, where you can imagine life during the time of Jesus.

Few places evoke so much imagination as Jerusalem, one of the world’s oldest cities, and holy to Jews, Muslims, and Christians. Walking (into) the Old City can be a magical experience, and to many visitors feels like entering a different world, and era. While Jerusalem is a spiritual and historic center, it’s also a dynamic city, where traditional lifestyles blend with cosmopolitan ideas.

We continue our journey in the Negev, a vast region in the South of Israel, comprising of arid mountains and surreal desert landscapes. Here, I visit a number of beautiful nature reserves, and also briefly visit a kibbutz. At the Southern tip of the Negev is Eilat, a popular holiday destination for Israeli families, but also a good place to go diving or snorkeling, as it’s located on the Red Sea.

I end the trip on the Dead Sea, known for its high salt levels, where people actually stay afloat. The high concentration of minerals is also said to have healing powers for people with certain skin problems. It’s not all good news though, as the Dead Sea’s water levels are receding at immense speed, mostly due to human activity, such as extraction for industrial purposes, and climate change.

Tel Aviv - Journey on Rothschild Boulevard, one of Israel's most important places

Zahi Shaked A tour guide in Israel and his camera
zahigo25@walla.com 972-54-6905522 tel
סיור עם מורה הדרך ומדריך הטיולים צחי שקד 0546905522
My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.

Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.

In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)

Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

Ramat HaNadiv | Rothschild's Memorial Gardens

Israel video tour with David Hyman, professional tour guide. One can not underestimate the contribution of one couple to the building of the land of Israel and the modern state of Israel. Baron Edmond Binyamin de Rothschild and his wife Adelheid Ada. They were involved in building 44 Jewish towns and villages starting in 1882 and until their death in 1934. Baron Rothschild and his wife were members of the noble Rothschild family from Frankfort, they were the head of the French branch of the family and were invested in banking, finance, agriculture, and industry all over Europe. When they heard that Jewish immigrants have started settling the land of Israel and are in need of support, they immediately agreed to assist and contribute. The couple visited the land of Israel 5 times, and each time they were thrilled to see how the community has advanced and how the towns are growing. Their wish was to be buried in the land they love and this was fulfilled 20 years after their death. In 1954 their remains were brought from Paris and were buried in the script on a hill just south of Zichron Yaakov, called Ramat HaNadiv. A beautiful garden decorates the memorial site, and the park reflects the values and the Rothschilds - Concordia, Integrity, and Industria - as written on their coat of arms. Join me on this tour of the gardens the crypt, the irises, and roses, and on one of the nature hikes. As we walk and enjoy, we can reflect on the actions and vision of this wonderful couple, Ada and Binyamin.
