Road Trip Drive With Music On History Visit To Dunfermline Fife Scotland

Tour Scotland 4K early Autumn travel video of a road trip drive, with Scottish music, on the road from Rosyth on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to Dunfermline in West Fife, Britain, United Kingdom. The earliest known settlements in the area around Dunfermline, Scottish Gaelic: Dùn Phàrlain, probably date as far back as the Neolithic period. The area was not regionally significant until at least the Bronze Age. The town was first recorded in the 11th century, with the marriage of King Malcolm III, King of Scots, and Saint Margaret at the church in Dunfermline. Dunfermline's most famous son is the entrepreneur and philanthropist, Andrew Carnegie who was born in the town in 1835. Among the gifts he gave to his home town, include a free library and public swimming baths. Most important of all, was the donation of the Pittencrieff Estate which he had purchased in 1903 to be converted into Pittencrieff Park. In 1888, two Dunfermline men, John Reid and Robert Lockhart, first demonstrated golf in the USA by setting up a hole in an orchard, before Reid set up America's first golf club the same year, St. Andrews Golf Club in Yonkers, New York, with Andrew Carnegie one of the first members. The surname Carnegie was first found in Angus, Gaelic: Aonghas, part of the Tayside region of north eastern Scotland, and present day Council Area of Angus, formerly known as Forfar or Forfarshire, where the was recorded as a family of great antiquity seated at Carnegie in the parish of Carmyllis in that shire. Confirmation of the grant of lands of Cairynegy was made by King David of Scotland in 1358 to then Chief of the Clan John Carnegie. He was descended from Jocelyn of Balinhard who was the progenitor of the family. Carnegie has been written Carnegie, Carnechie, Carnegey, Carnagie, Carnagee and many more. David Carnegie landed in Nova Scotia, Canada, in 1749; William Carnegie arrived in Pennsylvania, America, in 1848; John de la Coudamine Carnegie, was a Scottish settler who travelled from Greenock, Glasgow, aboard the ship Philip Laing arriving in Otago, South Island, New Zealand on 15th April 1848. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome. When driving on Scottish roads in Scotland slow down and enjoy the trip

Dockyard On History Visit To Rosyth Firth Of Forth Fife Scotland

Tour Scotland 4K late Autumn and early Winter travel video of the naval dockyard on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to Rosyth on the Firth of Forth in West Fife. Construction of the dockyard by civil engineers Easton, Gibb & Son commenced in 1909. At the time, the Royal Navy was strengthening its presence along the eastern seaboard of Great Britain due to a naval arms race with Germany. The yard gained in size and importance during the First World War. Babcock Thorn, a consortium operated by Babcock International and Thorn EMI, was awarded the management contract for Rosyth dockyard in 1987; with Rosyth Dockyard becoming a government owned, contractor run facility. In 1993 the Ministry of Defence announced plans to privatise Rosyth. The Royal Navy's two Queen Elizabeth-class carriers were constructed across six UK shipyards, with final assembly at Rosyth. The Firth of Forth, Scottish Gaelic: Linne Foirthe is the estuary (firth) of several Scottish rivers including the River Forth. It meets the North Sea with Fife on the north coast and Lothian on the South

Rosyth is a town on the Firth of Forth, three miles south of the centre of Dunfermline. The town was founded as a garden city and was built to form the coastal port of Dunfermline which began in 1909. Rosyth is almost contiguous with neighbouring Inverkeithing, separated only by the M90 motorway. Rosyth railway station is on the Fife Circle Line.

Summer Road Trip Drive With Music From Rosyth On History Visit To Milnathort Perthshire Scotland

Tour Scotland Summer travel video of a road trip drive, with Scottish music, from Rosyth in Fife, North up the M90 motorway, then through Gairney Bank and Kinross, on ancestry, genealogy, family history visit to Milnathort , Perthshire, Britain, United Kingdom. Situated on the A91, the main Stirling to St. Andrews road, Milnathort is an attractively maintained small town with a long history. It was developed as a market town and as a community of wool and linen weavers; flax was widely grown in the County until the 1st World War, and in 1880 there were 129 weavers in the Parish of Orwell which includes Milnathort. This Scottish road originates in Edinburgh, it then travels west and over the Queensferry Crossing, before turning into the M90 motorway. It is the northernmost motorway in the UK. Unless a motorway is a natural extension of an A road, you join it from a slip road. Accelerate until you are travelling alongside the traffic already on the motorway and slot in, using your mirrors and indicators. The speed limit is usually 70mph, but there are occasions when signs tell you that there’s a lower speed limit in force. Keep left when you can. Use the outside lanes only when you need to overtake. Overtake only on the right of other cars, unless you’re crawling in a traffic jam. Don’t use the hard shoulder unless you have a breakdown or you are directed to do so. It’ is illegal to use it otherwise. Signs on central reservations apply to all lanes. Signs above the road on gantries can apply only to the lanes they’ are over. Don’t tailgate, and leave even more room between you and other vehicles if it’s wet, icy or foggy. Get in the left-hand lane in good time before you reach your exit junction. Of interest to folks with ancestry, genealogy or Scottish Family Roots in Scotland who may wish to visit one day. Find things to see and do in Scotland where you are always welcome. The date for astronomical Summer in Scotland is Tuesday, 21 June, ending on Friday, 23 September. When driving on Scottish roads in Scotland slow down and enjoy the trip

Pittencrieff Park | The Glen | Dunfermline | Best Park in Scotland

Pittencrieff Park (known locally as The Glen) is a public park in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. It was purchased in 1902 by Andrew Carnegie, and given to the people of Dunfermline in a ceremony the following year. Its lands include the historically significant and topologically rugged glen which interrupts the centre of Dunfermline and, accordingly, part of the intention of the purchase was to carry out civic development of the area in a way which also respected its heritage. The project notably attracted the attention of the urban planner and educationalist, Patrick Geddes.

The glen is an area of topographical and historical significance to Dunfermline as the original site of Malcolm's Tower, the probable remains of which can be identified today on a strongly defendable outcrop of rock. To the eastern side of the park is Dunfermline Palace with Dunfermline Abbey and to the west it overlooks the village of Crossford.
