Visit to Fort Meigs Historic Site, Perrysburg, Ohio - Random Travel Instinct
Fort Meigs was a United States fortification along the Maumee River in what is now Perrysburg, Ohio during the War of 1812. The British Army, supported by Tecumseh's Confederacy, failed to capture the fort during the siege of Fort Meigs. It is named in honor of Ohio governor Return J. Meigs Jr., for his support in providing General William Henry Harrison with militia and supplies for the line of forts along the Old Northwest frontier. The Ohio Historical Society reconstructed the fort in the late 1960s, and its museum, featuring numerous artifacts uncovered during excavation in connection with the rebuilding, opened in 1974. It is a National Historic Landmark.

10 am - Port Clinton Lighthouse Tour - Private Tour
10:45 am - Portage Upscale Resale - Besides the treasures for sale this nonprofit gives out close to $100K in grants to local charitable organizations.
11:45 M - Uniques - This is an upscale consignment shop offering a wide selection of antiques, gifts, jewelry, and local artisans.
12:45 pm - The Lighthouse Resale Shop - This is a charitable resale sale shop where all proceeds work to feed residents of Ottawa County
1:45 pm- Marblehead Lighthouse - Group Tour. We also had a delicious Charcuterie Cup near the water’s edge, it was a perfect way to end the day.

My Story of Charlie's General Store & Family Restaurant on the Ohio Turnpike
It's time to step back in time and discuss my family's history with Charlie's General Store & Family Restaurant, formerly known as Oak Openings and Fallen Timbers Service Plazas, on the Ohio Turnpike, located outside of Toledo. Closed for over 10 years, Charlie's was very unique and one of my favorite service plazas. Enjoy a couple old photos from my teenage years, as well as from a Toledo trip in 2009, where we visited Charlie's one more time before it closed down.

Also interestingly, it seems they have turned this location into a toll plaza! It's been quite awhile since I traveled the Ohio Turnpike and apparently they have adopted an open road tolling system similar to Illinois.
