Mcallen Texas is bordered to the southwest by Granjeno; to the west by Mission, Palmhurst, and Alton; to the north by Edinburg, the Hidalgo county seat; to the east by Pharr; and to the south by Hidalgo. The McAllen city limits extend to the southwest as far as the Rio Grande, directly north of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, in Mexico. The Anzalduas International Bridge crosses the Rio Grande at this point, 11 mi (18 km) southwest of downtown McAllen.
McAllen is 238 mi (383 km) south of San Antonio, 148 mi (238 km) southeast of Laredo, 60 mi (97 km) northwest of Brownsville, and 150 mi (240 km) northeast of Monterrey.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 48.6 square miles (126.0 km2), of which 48.3 square miles (125.2 km2) are land and 0.3 square miles (0.8 km2), or 0.62%, is covered by water.
Although McAllen is named the City of Palms, tropical vegetation is only locally dominant. Many thorny shrubs and deciduous trees occur in the area, such as the Rio Grande ash (Fraxinus berlandieriana), cedar elm (Ulmus crassifolia), and honey mesquite (Prosopis glandulosa).McAllen is the largest city in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States, and the 22nd-most populous city in Texas. It is located at the southern tip of the state in the Rio Grande Valley, close to the country of Mexico. The city limits extend south to the Rio Grande, across from the Mexican city of Reynosa. McAllen is about 70 mi (110 km) west of the Gulf of Mexico. As of the 2020 census, McAllen's population was 142,210. It is the fifth-most populous metropolitan area (McAllen–Edinburg–Mission) in the state of Texas, and the binational Reynosa–McAllen metropolitan area counts a population of more than 1.5 million.
From its settlement in 1904, the area around McAllen was largely rural and agricultural in character, but the latter half of the 20th century had steady growth, which has continued in the 21st century in the metropolitan area. The introduction of the maquiladora economy and the North American Free Trade Association led to an increase in cross-border trading with Mexico.South Texas College has a total of more than 27,000 students attending its five campuses in Hidalgo and Starr counties, and the eSTC virtual campus. The main campus is in McAllen.

McAllen Public Library
The McAllen Independent School District serves most of the city followed by the Valley View Independent School District and the Sharyland Independent School District. Portions of the city extend into the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District, which operates two elementary schools within the McAllen city limits. The Hidalgo Independent School District, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District also serve McAllen.
In addition, residents are allowed to apply to magnet schools operated by the South Texas Independent School District.
The Catholic Diocese of Brownsville operates Our Lady of Sorrows School, an elementary and middle school.
Public libraries
McAllen Public Library operates a main library and two branches, the Lark Branch and the Palm View Branch. The New Main Library opened in the fall of 2011 inside a former Walmart big box store. The library earned high praise and received the International Interior Design Association's 2012 Library Interior Design Award.

Development of Texas’ energy resources in recent years has required the exploration of oil and gas reserves in regions of the state accessible only by local county or farm-to-market roads. These roads have proven inadequate to meet the long-term demands of fully loaded, 18-wheeler semi-trucks. As a result, the rate of pavement failures has increased, as have maintenance costs associated with road repair.
TTI assisted TxDOT in developing and testing new pavement designs—comparing their performances across different TxDOT Districts—and led workshops to educate TxDOT District designers on how to implement the new designs. TTI also developed a new software tool to assist designers in applying the designs to meet local needs.

Brownsville is a city in Cameron County in the U.S. state of Texas. It is on the western Gulf Coast in South Texas, adjacent to the border with Matamoros, Mexico. The city covers 145.2 sq mi (376.066 km2), and has a population of 186,738 as of the 2020 census. It is the 139th-largest city in the United States and 18th-largest in Texas. It is part of the Matamoros–Brownsville metropolitan area. The city is known for its year-round subtropical climate, deep-water seaport, and Hispanic culture.
The city was founded in 1848 by American entrepreneur Charles Stillman after he developed a successful river-boat company nearby. It was named for Fort Brown, itself named after Major Jacob Brown, who fought and died while serving as a U.S. Army soldier during the Mexican–American War (1846–1848). As a county seat, the city and county governments are major employers. Other primary employers fall within the service, trade, and manufacturing industries, including a growing aerospace and space transportation sector. It operates international trading through the Port of Brownsville. The city experienced a population increase in the early 1900s, when steel production flourished. It is frequently cited as having one of the highest poverty rates in the United States. Brownsville is one of the southernmost cities in the contiguous United States; only a handful of municipalities in Florida's Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties (plus Everglades City in Collier County) are located farther south than Brownsville. The city has a total area of 84.867 sq mi (220 km2), of which 81.528 sq mi (211 km2) are land and 3.339 sq mi (9 km2) are water, according to the United States Census Bureau of 2017.
The city is situated at the intersection of different climates (subtropical, Chihuahuan Desert, Gulf Coast plain, and Great Plains); this produces high bird migration rates. Its idiosyncratic network of resacas (English: oxbow lakes), distributaries of the Rio Grande, provide habitat for numerous nesting/breeding birds of various types typically during the spring and fall migrations. Brownsville's vegetation is classified as grassland.

Brownsville is in one metropolitan statistical area as defined by the United States Census Bureau. However, the Brownsville–Harlingen–Raymondville combined statistical area consists of Cameron County and Willacy County. It includes the Brownsville metropolitan area and the micropolitan area of Raymondville. The city of Raymondville is the county seat of Willacy County. The Brownsville-Harlingen-Raymondville combined statistical area is home to 445,309 people (2017 estimated), making it the 106th-largest combined statistical area in the United States. Based on the Uniform Crime Report conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 2013, the Brownsville metropolitan area ranked last on its list of the Most Dangerous Cities in Texas, with 240 incidents of violent crime per 100,000 people and a murder rate of 1.4. Robbery crimes make up 25% of overall crime in the city, with a rate of 58.1 per 100,000 residents. Brownsville has 37 parks connected by a 1,200-acre (1.9 sq mi) system of parkland and 32 mi (51 km) of bike lanes. The city also has three gymnasiums, two public pools, and 55 athletic fields.
Brownsville's proximity to the coast has allowed the city several locations under the list of protected areas of the United States. Resaca de la Palma State Park is one of six nature preserves (and three state parks) that are part of the World Birding Center. It is also the largest nature preserve of the park system, with approximately 1,200 acres (490 ha) of native semitropical brushland. The area was part of the Battle of Resaca de la Palma. The National Park Service lists the site of the Battle of Palo Alto as a National Historic Park. The agency purchased 300 acres (120 ha) of the site's land, with two-thirds belonging to private landowners.[109] It is native to the Prosopis glandulosa (honey mesquite) bush, Opuntia engelmannii (prickly pear), and Yucca treculeana (yucca).

Took the tour at Kings Ranch, A lot of Texas History and I had a great time. I recommend taking the tour if you are in the area.
I was getting hungry so I headed towards the Gulf Of Mexico to the World Famous King's Inn and grab some seafood. World Famous King's Inn was okay, it was kind of a let down. The review said it was an Awesome place to eat seafood. I found it good but really expensive. If you go there take a few people with you, because they sever their food family style. I had way too much food and spent $30.00 for lunch!
Stopped at the Willacy Texas County Courthouse In Raymondville Texas. This Courthouse was under construction being remodel, so I was not able to go inside. This Courthouse reminds me of the one in Kennedy County in the City Of Sarita Texas.
Headed down to the Port Of Mansfield Texas, but only to find the campground closed! I did Plan B and headed back over to Raymondville Texas and parked for the night at a Stripes Fuel Stop.
Today was awesome ride and a very long day!

salutations my friends. this is a map of the Rio Grande Valley, Texas. The Lower Rio Grande Valley (Spanish: Valle del Río Grande), commonly known as the Rio Grande Valley or locally as the Valley or RGV, is a socio-cultural region spanning the border of Texas and Mexico located in a floodplain of the Rio Grande near its mouth. The region includes the southernmost tip of South Texas and a portion of northern Tamaulipas, Mexico. It consists of the Brownsville, Harlingen, Weslaco, Pharr, McAllen, Edinburg, Mission, San Juan, and Rio Grande City metropolitan areas in the United States and the Matamoros, Río Bravo, and Reynosa metropolitan areas in Mexico. These cities are surrounded by many small neighborhoods or colonias. The area is generally bilingual in English and Spanish, with a fair amount of Spanglish due to the diverse history of the region. A large seasonal influx occurs of winter Texans — Texans who come down from the north for the winter and then go back up north before summer arrives. The Rio Grande Valley is not a true valley, but a river delta. Valley is often used in the western United States to refer to a large expanse with rivers. Most such valleys, including the Rio Grande, have good agricultural production. Early 20th-century land developers, attempting to capitalize on unclaimed land, utilized the name Magic Valley to attract settlers and appeal to investors. The Rio Grande Valley is also called El Valle, the Spanish translation of the valley, by those who live there. The residents of the Rio Grande Valley no longer refer to the area as El Mágico Valle del Río Grande (The Magical Valley of the Rio Grande), but as The Valley. The main region is within four Texan counties: Starr County, Hidalgo County, Willacy County, and Cameron County.
The largest city on the American side of the region is Brownsville (Cameron County), followed by McAllen (Hidalgo County). Other major cities include Harlingen, Edinburg, Mission, Rio Grande City, Raymondville, Weslaco, Hidalgo and Pharr. Raymondskill Falls is the tallest waterfall in Pennsylvania, reaching 178 feet at its full height - more than 30 feet taller than nearby Dingmans Falls, which is second on the state list. A special treat for waterfall lovers is the multi-tier structure of Raymondskill Falls, which can be appreciated from several observation spots.
Raymondskill Falls is located just off Route 209, about 4 miles south of the town of Milford in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Exit onto Raymondskill Road and the parking lot for Raymondskill Falls will be on your left as you go up the hill. The National Park Service maintains the site, and there are bathrooms with outhouses. The trail entrance will be to the right, next to the sign reminding you that this area is a bear habitat.
There are two primary vantage points. The first is an observation platform near the top of the falls, where the Raymondskill Creek flows down several small drops and then over the top of the falls. This location also provides a top-down perspective of the height of this mighty waterfall.
The other vantage point is a platform between the middle and lower tiers of Raymondskill Falls, providing great views of the entire waterfall. We visited in May during a rainy period, and the flow of water over the falls was genuinely impressive.
The lower tier of the waterfall is visible on the left side of the viewing platform, including a second narrow waterfall to the left of the main cascade, which is seen during periods of high water.
It's important to note that the trail from the upper platform to the lower viewing area can be a difficult descent. The trail has a fence and railing to hold onto, but as the National Park Service notes, this trail is steep and uneven, and footing can be slippery when wet. Park officials recommend sturdy hiking shoes.
It's best to come during the week. as the Raymondskill Falls parking lot is often closed on weekends and holidays from 10 am to 4 pm, and then will be accessible only by shuttle bus from the Milford Knob Trailhead on Route 209, just south of Milford..

INTERSTATE 69E, BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS
Interstate 69E from junction with Texas 100 (that takes you straight to South Padre Island) all the way north right before the famous Border Patrol Checkpoint on US77.
I-69E is a great highway same like ALL highways throughout the Great State of Texas, impeccably-maintained by Texas DOT, speed limits vary btwn 65mph to 75mph where you can safely do 85mph and no Texas State Troopers will ever bother pulling you over for speeding.
