A quick and simple 4k video taken from my bonnet cam of the town of Maun in Botswana. Maun is one of the largest towns in Botswana and dubbed the tourism capital due to its vicinity to the Okavango Delta. Perfect location to refuel, restock and head into the surrounding parks.

All the INFO you'll NEED for the Central Kalahari Game Reserve | Botswana
Exploring the Central Kalahari Game Reserve | Botswana🇧🇼
The Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR) in Botswana is one of the last fully self-sufficient destinations to visit. The reserve is massive, stretching over an area of 52 000km² and seriously remote. If you dont bring it, you will not have it and this includes water for washing.
The reserve can be entered through one of four gates. The Matswere (North East), Tsau (North West), Xade (West) and via the Khutse game reserve in the south. The Matswere gate is by far the easiest to access the reserve from, a short 45km drive from the village of Rakops.
Camps and sites are scattered all over the reserve with a concentration about 40km inside the Matswere gate. This includes the Deception, Kori, Sunday and Leopard camps. As well the as the Tau Pan lodge and Kalahari Plains camp. The Passarge sites are north west from there and the Letiahau and Piper sites to the south west.
The road conditions were surprisingly good with the worst being the outside sections needed to access the reserve. I cannot comment on the roads towards Xade and further south of Piper as I did not go to these areas. Also note I visited the reserve during winter which is the dry season.
The sites are basic with a non-flushing toilet, bucket shower, fire pit and shade. There is no water or any other facilities available in the reserve. As I mentioned, if you dont bring it, you wont have it #Botswana #CKGR #5410Africa

DINAKA SAFARI LODGE ACCOMMODATION CENTRAL KALAHARI BOTSWANA | ДИНАКА САФАРИ ЛОДЖ КАЛАХАРИ БОТСВАНА
Dinaka Lodge:
Dinaka Safari Lodge is an intimate Botswana luxury safari camp perched on the northern boundary of Botswana's Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Travel to a wild world where a colorful array of birds, herds of graceful antelope, and Kalahari black-maned lions roam.
Giraffe, wildebeest, oryx, and brown hyena can all be spotted on daily game drives. Graceful impala and sturdy warthog congregate to drink from nearby watering holes. Photographers will adore the underground hides that offer views of these watering holes for amazing photographic opportunities. In addition, birders will find joy in the 200 identified species, including kori bustard, crimson-breasted shrike, and pale chanting goshawks.
Walking safaris allow you to see the reserve from the point of view of the resident species. With your guide, discover animal tracks, spot small reptiles, and learn about the smaller mammal species like bat-eared fox and honey badger.
Dinaka, meaning “horns”, is a private reserve located on the northern boundary of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The reserve offers an educational walk with San Bushmen in addition to day and night game drives. Year-round water holes result in spectacular photographic opportunities either from the underground bunker, hide or vehicle. The perfect contrast to a stay in the Okavango Delta, with an added hidden treasure.
Situated alongside the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, the focus of activities at Dinaka is exploring the Kalahari experience with wildlife ranging from giraffe to the antelope, small mammals like the honey badger, bat eared fox and porcupine to predators including the Kalahari lion, cheetah, leopard and brown hyena. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles, with afternoon game drives often continuing into the evening. Our window seat guarantee ensures no more than four guests per vehicle when out on game drives. Alternatively, you may get more up close and personal with nature on foot with guided bush walks. Birding is particularly spectacular as Dinaka hosts over 200 different bird species including the Kori Bustard and Crimson Breasted Shrike and a high concentration of Pale Chanting Goshawks.

Botswana | Chobe River Cruise
The Chobe river cruise offers you the best both worlds, amazing wildlife and the promise of sunset on the river , Chobe River in Chobe National park just outside the town of Kasane.
The beautiful thing is you can get up close to large herds of animals that are abundant in the Chobe National Park. They tend to make their way to the river and onto the islands in the river to feast on the sweet grass.
Its also very popular for Photo safaris.. There is a high concentration of elephants , and herds of elephants frequently cross the Chobe River. Hippos and crocodiles like to bask in the sun next to the water. You can also see buffalo and giraffe and other plains game. It is also a Birders Paradise.
The Boat cruises depart regularly in the mornings and afternoons

Botswana Mobile Camping Safari
Home to the lush, watery paradise of the Okavango Delta, the vast floodplains and rolling grasslands of the Selinda Spillway and the dry aridness of the Kalahari Desert, Botswana is a country of striking contrast, extreme diversity, and startling beauty. Best known as the stage upon which lion compete with hyena for territory and food, Savuti is a safari aficionado’s paradise, while the open grasslands dotted with the skeletons of drowned trees and nutritious grasses of Chobe attract massive herds of game on their annual migration north. From the marshy swamplands of Linyanti to the dusty saltpans and sand dunes of the Kalahari Desert, Botswana is one of Africa’s most iconic landscapes and greatest safari destinations on earth.

Destination Film || 10 day Botswana Self Drive 2019
A month ago myself and two friends set off on a 10 day self drive trip through some of Botswana.
We drove up from Johannesburg spending time in Nata, Nxai Pan, Maun and a very small piece of the Okavango Delta.
Our main reason for the trip was to attend the Okavango Music Festival. A music festival that contributes to uplifting the Tsutsubega rural community. Although the gathering was small in size, it was alive with people from around the globe, young and old. We met many people from Gaborone, Zimbabwe, Europe and even some fellow South Africans. We danced our asses off, sipped St Louis beers as the sun went down and basked in the African sun.
The trip was unique for me in that it was my first time on a Safari since I was 11 years old. It was also my first time in any African Country other than South Africa. And what can I say, it's love at first sight.
I can not wait to get back into Africa, to meet more kind souls and hear more stories of the past around campfires.
The places we stayed at were:
Nata Lodge by @Underonebotswanasky
Nxai Pan by @kwandosafari
Sitatunga Camp by @Deltarain
Our Mokoro safari was through @Deltarain and I HIGHLY recommend them.

Road from Central Kalahari Game Reserve to Maun Botswana.
Namibia, Botswana, Caprivi (Okavango Delta) and the Kalahari on 4x4 self drive safari
We embarked on a 4x4 expedition (safari) driving a loop from South Africa into Namibia exploring the Caprivi Strip in our trusty Toyota Landcruiser 76. We exited into Botswana and returning back into eastern Namibia. We saw a lot of game and considered this to be one of the last untamed great wilderness areas of Africa. Our mission was to reach the Linyanti river in the Landcruiser and it was possible this time because of the drought in 2019.
We stayed in some of what we considered some of the greatest camping experiences. To name a few Nambwa Campsite One of our favourites under the Jackalberry Tree, Mashi River safaris for Hippos and sunsets, Livingston camp and Onguma PGR, Guma Lagoon Camp, Ngepi, Drotsky Camp, Kalahari Game Lodge and Kgalagadi National Park.
One of the highlights was a Mokoro trip into the Okavango Delta.
This video has drone footage.
We passed through many game parks - Etosha Na.tional Park, Bwabwata National Park, Kwando Core Area, Mudumu Game Reserve, Lyinyanti Swamp, Nkasa Rupara Nkasa Lupara,,Okavango Delta Pan Handle.
Animals we saw - A special note for bird lovers this is a birder paradise. (ornithologists)
Buffalo, lion, Hippos, lots of Elephants, cheetah, waterbuck, sable antelope Kudu, springbok, impala, hyena, crocodile.

BOTSWANA Makgadigadi Pans
The Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve -- with an area of 3 900 sq kms -- incorporates the western end of Ntwetwe, extensive grasslands and acacia woodland. At its northern boundary, it meets the Nxai Pan National Park, separated only by the Nata- Maun Road.
In the wet season, this reserve can offer good wildlife viewing, particularly when large herds of zebra and wildebeest begin their westward migration to the Boteti region. other species include gemsbok, eland and red hartebeest, as well as kudu, bushbuck, duiker, giraffe, springbok, steenbok, and even elephant, with all the accompanying predators, as well as the rare brown hyena.
Humans have inhabited areas of the pans since the Stone age, and have adapted to geographical and climatic changes as they have occurred. Archaeological sites on the pans are rich with Early Man's tools, and the bones of the fish and animals he ate.
Human inhabitation has continued to the present day; and a number of villages, including Mopipi, Mmatshumo, Nata, Gweta and Rakops, are situated on the fringes of the pans.
