About raigad Fort : Raigad Fort was the capital of the Maratha Empire from 1674 to 1818. It is located on a hilltop in the Sahyadri Mountains and is considered to be one of the most important forts in Indian history. The fort is well-preserved and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
*Raigad Fort*, also known as Rairi or Rairy Fort, is a magnificent hill fort situated in the Sahyadri mountain range, overlooking the town of Mahad in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, India. Standing tall at an elevation of 2,700 feet (820 meters) above its base and 4,449 feet (1,356 meters) above sea level, Raigad Fort offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Its strategic location and formidable defenses made it one of the strongest fortresses on the Deccan Plateau.

Raigad Fort holds immense historical significance as it served as the capital of the Maratha Empire under the legendary Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. In 1674, Shivaji was crowned the king of the Maratha kingdom, and Raigad Fort became the center of his administrative and military operations. During his reign, the Maratha Empire flourished and expanded considerably, reaching a significant portion of western and central India.

Gomarda reserve forest is home to exotic wildlife such as Chinkara, Wild Buffalo, Sloth Bear, Jackal,Chausingha,Gaur,Hill Myna, Green Pigeon and Wild Boar.
3. Chandrahshini Mandir
Chandrahasini Devi temple is situated on the bank of Mahanadi. A very big fate is being organized here every year on the eve of Navratri.It is also famous as a tourist place. People from other state like Orissa are also visiting this place. Day by day it is becoming a big place for holy as well as tourist place. It is originally situated in Janjgir Champa district.
4. Banjari Mata Mandir
It is one of the famous temples of Raigarh, a very divine and pure temple dedicated to Goddess banjari mata. This temple is found on the route from Raigarh to Ambikapur.This temple has its own and different ancient past to it. Lots of numbers of pilgrims come to this place during festivals, where the whole temple is appointed. Raigad fort is 25 kilometers from Mahad town and 125 km away from Pune City. This fort falls under Sahyadri mountain range. It rises 2700 feet above sea level. There are three ways to reach this fort. One is Steps road in which one has to climb nearly 1700 steps to reach the top. Second one is Trekking road which will take to the top and third one is Ropeway which is known as the Raighad Ropeway
This fort is one of the strongest fortresses on the Deccan Plateau, previously known as Rairee or Rairy fort.
This Fort has four main Darwaja’s which are named The Mena Darwaja, Palki Darwaja, Nagarkhana Darwaja and Maha Darwaja. The main structures inside Fort, Comprises of Rani Vasa, Watch towers, Gangasagar Lake, Raj Durbar
