Le Redoutable nuclear submarine museum is housed next to where the ship docks but is a four-hour tour. As the city opens and wakes late, the submarine may be a good early call. Tours include coach trips to local villages and there is a great deal of WWII history.

Delphine met us in Cherbourg and we traversed the Cotentin finding WWII history, quaint fishing villages, charming churches, and a chance to sit in the harbor of Balfleur and talk about France.
Delphine comes from Brittany, the region just south of Normandy - Mont St. Michelle is the dividing line. She shares with us the history and culture that separates and is shared between the two regions and talks a bit about her own life.
We met Delphine through a @RotaryInternational Group Study Exchange in 2009, but have remained close friends and enjoy traveling together. You can count on her for salted caramels, apple cider, and salsa dancing!
