Rizhao, Shandong, China
Rizhao is named after the first light of the sunrise. It is a prefecture-level city in Shandong Province, located in the southeastern part of Shandong Province on the Yellow Sea, east across the Yellow Sea with Japan and South Korea, west of Linyi City, north of Qingdao City, Weifang City, and south of Lianyungang. The total area of the city is 5358.57 square kilometers, and the sea area is 6000 square kilometers, under the jurisdiction of Donggang District, Lanshan District, Ju County, Wulian County, 2 districts and 2 counties. 2021 the city's gross domestic product 221.196 billion yuan, at comparable prices, an increase of 6.8% over the previous year. According to the data of the 7th census, the resident population of Rizhao was 2,968,365 as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020.
Rizhao is a Chinese coastal ecological, livable, tourist, modern port city and port industrial base, and an integral part of Shandong Peninsula City Cluster, Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone and Jiaodong Economic Circle. Rizhao has 168.5 kilometers of coastline, two natural harbors, Shishu Bay and Buddha's Hand Bay, as well as Rizhao Port and Lashan Port, and is known as the Capital of Water Sports and the Sun City of the East. Rizhao belonged to the Eastern barbarians during the Xia and Shang Dynasties, and was one of the birthplaces of the Longshan Culture, which was called the earliest city in Asia by the Oxford University's World History Handbook. It was a part of the Ju State from the Western Zhou Dynasty to the early Warring States period. In the Song Dynasty, Rizhao Town was established, and the name Rizhao began. Rizhao County was established in the Jin Dynasty, and belonged to Qingzhou in the Ming Dynasty and Yizhou in the Qing Dynasty, and was established as a prefecture-level city in June 1989.
Rizhao is home to such historical celebrities as Jiang Shang, Liu Innocence and Ding Zhaozhong. Rizhao was awarded the titles of National Civilized City, National Forest City, National Key City of Environmental Protection, and National Pilot City of Ecological Demonstration Zone Construction, etc. On October 20, 2020, it was named as National Model City (County) of Double Support. 2020 Rizhao achieved a regional gross domestic product (GDP) of 2006.43 billion yuan. 2021 On December 24, the first Gigabit City On December 24, 2021, the first Gigabit City Summit Forum was held in Qingdao, Shandong Province, where the first batch of Gigabit Cities were officially announced, and Rizhao was selected.

In this video we explore an ancient city in the Shandong province of China. This video is not by any means a history lesson, it is simply an exploration of the ancient city as seen through the eyes of a foreigner.
The Qingzhou ancient city attracts many tourists over weekends and public holidays and includes a museum and the Yunmen mountain which we will visit at a later stage.

Jingtang Ancient Village is located in Wangfu Sub-district Office, 15 kilometers southwest of Qingzhou City, Shandong Province. It is an ancient village with a well-preserved Ming Dynasty architecture after more than 500 years of vicissitudes. Jingtang Ancient Village was built in the seventh year of Jingtai in the Ming Dynasty (1456). According to the research of experts from all over the country, the village has a clear spring under the Shamao Mountain in the southeast, which does not dry up all the year round, forming a pond.
Jingtang Ancient Village is built on the mountain, relying on the courtyard of Hengwangfu, forming an ancient building complex with the architectural style of the Ming Dynasty and the characteristics of living in the western mountainous area. It is a relatively well-preserved ancient village in Shandong Province. The entire village is surrounded by the ancient village defense wall. The city wall is made of bluestone, and a castle (turret) is built every 30 meters, which has the function of self-defense. Jingtang Village is centered on the seventy-two ancient houses of Wu Yibin, the son-in-law of King Heng in the Ming Dynasty, and has formed a unique style of ancient residential buildings with Zhang Family Courtyard, Wu Family Courtyard and Sun Family Courtyard as points. And there are well-preserved ancient stone bridges, ancient wells, ancient temples, ancient stone platforms and so on. The dwellings are built in the form of a typical courtyard house in the western mountainous area of Qingzhou, which is connected by the mountains and sits on a large stone slab. The gatehouse is made of blue bricks and blue tiles, and the lintel is carved with exquisite dragons and tigers. The steps leading to the courtyard are all made of stone, with a minimum of seven or eight steps and a maximum of seventy-two steps. The building is magnificent.
