FAQs
========================================
Q: How long did it take?
A: My trip was 14 days.
Q: Which airport should I arrive at?
A: Having travelled from the other side of the globe, I arrived at Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei. If travelling from Australia or Asia, there may be connecting flights to Kaohsiung International Airport on the south-west coast of Taiwan.
Q: How much did it cost?
A: You can see a cost breakdown of my trip at 12:37
Q: How did you pay for things or get local currency?
A: I just take money out from an ATM using my debit card. It has a small international transaction fee, but it’s minuscule if you only do it once or twice. You may be able to order foreign currency at better rates, but it’s not something I personally bothered with.
Q: Is it easy to find petrol stations?
A: Yes, you'll find one pretty much everywhere, including remote areas in the mountains! I always went with caution and ensured I had a full tank before entering remote areas, however to my shock, there were petrol stations, and even 7 Eleven stores in remote mountains! Just to be safe, I would highly recommend getting a full tank of petrol before going to the mountains.
Q: Which month did you go?
A: I visited mid November to early December and spent 14 days there.

ACTUALLY AWESTRUCK | Puli, Taiwan
I decided to set up in Puli for a couple days, mainly to visit have a day trip to Sun Moon Lake. But of course there was a couple things to see in Puli.
I went to Chung Tai Chan Monastery. This is an amazing building. I was actually awestruck by it. I also went to the geographical centre of Taiwan because I'm a geography nerd.
Much love and happy travels

3 Days in Lishan | A mountain in Nantou Taiwan
3 Days in Lishan | A mountain in Nantou Taiwan
The Lishan Tour provided an immersive journey into the heart of Taiwan's beauty and culture. Beginning at Taichung station, our adventure commenced with a visit to Puli-Hehuanshan Fushoushan, where we were treated to breathtaking vistas and natural wonders. Following a satisfying lunch at Fushoushan, we explored Tianchi Point, marveling at its serene beauty.
Upon checking into the Lishan Resort Hotel, we enjoyed a delightful dinner before partaking in the festive opening ceremony of the Christmas tree. Amidst the festivities, we shared the joy of the season by singing Chinese songs, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
The following morning, after a hearty breakfast, we ventured to Kumy Tea Farm, where we learned about the art of tea cultivation. Our culinary journey continued at Sobih Restaurant, where we engaged in a food exchange program, sharing and savoring our national dishes.
Energized from our culinary experiences, we embarked on the Lieren Trail at Sqoyaw Tribe, immersing ourselves in nature's splendor during an invigorating hike. Upon returning to our homestay, we were treated to a cultural night filled with traditional singing, dancing, and the delightful experience of mashing glutinous rice.
The next morning greeted us with another delicious breakfast before we embarked on a fruit-picking adventure, further connecting us with Taiwan's agricultural abundance. A satisfying lunch marked the conclusion of our journey before returning to Taichung station, our hearts full of cherished memories from the Lishan Tour.

Central Taiwan's Sun Moon Lake has always been one of the must-sees in Taiwan. Yet, if you feel like doing sight-seeing through Topology Travel's eyes, here's a chance to get a glimpse of how we arrange a tour that goes OFF TRAIL!
If you don't feel like joining an ordinary tour, see if you're interested in Puli, a small, quiet and lovely countryside town where cute things happen, say:
1) hands-on experience at GuanXin Paper Factory (learning how to make your own traditional paper art crafts)
2) visiting Jumping Land (why not getting a geological and recreational lesson!)
3) meeting local people and visiting hidden attractions up in the hills
4) Paper Dome (learning a bit about 921 Earthquake and enjoy a tranquil walk at the Church)
Topology Travel offers package trips that not only save your time organizing a tour, but offer non-touristic tours. We'll cover the general well-known attractions, also we'd like to recommend what we think it's worth to visit. Keep it mind that small things matter a lot!

Chung Tai Chan Monastery (中台禪寺), Puli, Nantou, Taiwan, 3/5/2013
Chung Tai Chan is a Taiwan-based Buddhist monastic order founded by the Venerable Master Wei Chueh in 1987. The monastery headquarters, Chung Tai Chan Monastery (or Chung Tai Buddhist Temple, 中台禪寺), completed in September 2001, is located in Puli, Nantou County, in central Taiwan. It is the tallest and one of the largest temples and monastery in both Taiwan and the world, having a height of 136 metres (446 ft). Widely admired as an architectural masterpiece because of the mountain monastery's more modern look, the temple is second only to Fo Guang Shan's monastery in physical size and in the number of ordained disciples.
Viewed from afar, the main building of Chung Tai resembles a cultivator in sitting meditation, surrounded by mountains, majestic and serene. The entire structure is an embodiment of the Dharma, unifying sudden enlightenment and gradual cultivation. The three central Buddha halls rise vertically to the golden dome on top, symbolizing sudden enlightenment to the ultimate truth—awaken the mind and see the true nature; seeing the true nature one becomes a buddha. The pilgrimage stairways on both sides of the monastery represent the gradual bodhisattva path (a bodhisattva is a Buddha-to-be, one with infinite compassion for all beings), each step leading to the attainment of buddhahood not just for oneself but for all beings.
The architecture of Chung Tai Chan Monastery expresses a harmony of the arts, culture, science, and the teachings of the Buddha, and is a wonderful application of the Five Modern Approaches of Buddhism. Soon after the Monastery's completion, it was awarded The 23rd Annual Taiwan Architecture Award in 2002, and The 20th International Award for Lighting Design in 2003. Having received wide acclaim and recognition, the monastery is a landmark of 21st century religious architecture.
