Subsequently, we dive into an underwater adventure with Snorkeling at Kicker Rock, a sheer-walled tuff cone that houses a rich abundance of marine life. There are also cities at the Galapagos - the town of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno is the administrative capital of the islands, and with its 5,600 inhabitants is the second largest town in the Galapagos - the town is primarily a fishing village.
After breakfast we sailed to the waterfront in the panga's. First we went on a short tour of the local 'Interpretation Center' where there was an exhibition about the history of the Galapagos. Then we walked around town and looked at the sea lions lying on the street and benches along the waterfront. Back to Xpedition before lunch.

Located near Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on San Cristóbal Island, this scenic sea lion-laden beach offers ample opportunities for catching sight of the island's lively local residents. For those looking to hit the waves, there are also ample places to surf, swim and snorkel. Just be sure to stay a safe distance away from the sea lions; alpha males are known for being territorial and can be aggressive toward humans if they feel threatened.
Travelers agree that this isolated stretch is well worth the trip, and not just for the swarms of sea lions. Here, you're also likely to spot wild iguanas, lava lizards, yellow warblers and frigates, among other fascinating creatures. Some, however, do caution that getting to the beach takes longer than you might expect – approximately 30 minutes if you're walking from Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. If you're not up for the walk, a taxi can take you from the city center to the beach for roughly $3.
La Lobería is situated about a mile south of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno and the island's airport. The beach is free to visit 24 hours a day. No permanent facilities are available on-site, and you'll need to bring your own snorkeling gear (which you can rent in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno).

Galápagos 2012: Puerto Baquerizo Moreno
This video shows a few glimpses from Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, the capital of Galápagos province. It has about 5,500 people (so although it's the capital, it's not the biggest town in the archipelago, Puerto Ayora is bigger). It's named after former president Alfredo Baquerizo Moreno, because he was the first Ecuadorian president to visit the islands while in office.
The video has some footage from around the town, both what you'd call downtown, with the harbor, and streets further out towards the edge of town ... also some wildlife - sea lions and a mangrove warbler (that little yellow bird :-).
