BEST IN TRAVEL 2023: NEW MEXICO
Learn why New Mexico is called the Land of Enchantment. Is it because of the state's thousand-year-old pueblos where Native Americans still live in today? Or the fiery-red deserts that you can cross on horseback or by hot air balloon? Or perhaps, is it because of the modern and contemporary art scene that New Mexico's capital Santa Fe is world-famous for? Native American hoop dancer ShanDien LaRance shows us her top places to go and things to do while introducing us to the native land and culture of her home state.

The 10 SAFEST CITIES In NEW MEXICO For 2019
SUBSCRIBE to get REGIONAL INFORMATION about where YOU live:
Full Article Here:
The purpose of this video is to determine where the safest cities to live are in New Mexico. Those places where crime is usually something you hear about on Facebook, but not from your local paper.
We analyzed cities in New Mexico with a population of more than 5,000 using the latest FBI crime data.
Here are the 10 Safest CITIES in NEW MEXICO for 2019:
1. Los Alamos
2. Corrales
3. Anthony
4. Rio Rancho
5. Truth or Consequences
6. Grants
7. Ruidoso
8. Raton
9. Portales
10. Alamogordo
Our goal is to combine recent data, fun videos, and thoughts about local culture into bite-sized snacks of shareable information. We call it bite-sized regional infotainment. We try to paint a picture of what’s happening in a region based on “Friday Night Science” — how’d you argue at a bar. To do that, we gather data from around the web to help determine a wide array of factors about where you live, things like safety, desirability, and culture.

The Mexican City they told us NOT to visit
Despite being located about an hour from CDMX, Toluca isn't a very highly recommended city. That didn't stop us from having an absolute blast though!
► Get 3 months free:
In today's Mexico travel vlog, we're in the city of Toluca in the State of Mexico. Why'd we end up here when there are so many more desirable cities close to Mexico City? We're meeting some old friends of ours!
We start off the day at Diego's family's restaurant, Cafe Lusso. Later, @MyTrishAdvisor and Diego are reunited with our husky Laska and we explore the historic center (zocalo) of Toluca. Then, we visit Dulceria Hernandez, a candy store that's over 100 years old! In total Mexico style, we get invited back as we're leaving and get to know the family over some pulque. Finally, we see the highly impressive Cosmovitral, aka the Botanical Garden with the largest stained glass display in the world. This week was a ton of fun!

We're in Campeche, Mexico! After seeing one of our favorite YouTubers @alanxelmundo was just here, we HAD to try and live like Alan for a day!
This vlog is part of our ongoing series where we're traveling Mexico in our tangerine car with our dog, Laska. This week, we drove from Merida, Yucatan to Campeche, Campeche. This colonial town is actually a UNESCO World Heritage site for it's well-preserved architecture and complex history. Today, we'll be attempting to live like one of our favorite YouTubers, Alan x el mundo, for a day in Campeche!
All our activities were inspired by Alan's Campeche videos:
- Trying some typical food of Campeche at Marganzo inside the fort walls
- Giving a tour of our rental with Alan's famous PREUBA DEL COLCHON!! (mattress test) Here's our Airbnb:
- Taking a trolly city tour & eating local ice cream
- Visiting one of Campeche's forts: Fuerte de San Jose el Alto
- Watching the sunset from the Campeche Malecon at Angel Maya
- Trying some more typical food at Cenaduría Portales de San Francisco

Guide to New Mexico State Parks
Affordable, picturesque, and often filled with amenities, New Mexico’s state park campgrounds are ideal for RVers and tent campers alike. You can find campsites with hookups for only $14 a night and dry camping sites for merely $10 a night. Plus, if you purchase an annual camping permit, your nightly fees are waived for the year.
Here are a few state parks to check out if you’re looking for a place to camp in New Mexico:
Rockhound State Park. Each RV site is spacious and features a picnic table and covered shelter. The campground has one loop with hookups and one without, making this a great spot, no matter your camping needs.
City of Rocks State Park. Featuring stunning volcanic rock formations, this campground offers 50 sites spread throughout the park’s unique geologic landscapes. While some sites are first come, first served, others can be reserved online.
Cimarron Canyon State Park. Camp alongside the Cimarron River at this northern New Mexico state park. There are no hookups, but the campground does offer potable water and restrooms.
Oliver Lee Memorial State Park. Less than 30 miles from White Sands National Park, this state park offers expansive views, hiking trails, a visitor center, and more. Most of the campsites can accommodate rigs longer than 30 feet, and each site has a gravel pad.

Los Portales Shrine: Seboyeta, New Mexico
In this video I go way off the beaten path to Seboyeta, New Mexico to find the Los Portales Shrine. This is a nice sacred place with seeps and springs and cold stream nearby too. It is maybe 40 minutes north of I-40, west of Albuquerque a bit.

Oasis State Park, Portales, New Mexico, RV Park Review
Oasis State Park, Portales, New Mexico, RV Park Review by Outdoorstaycations.
Oasis State Park is set among cottonwood trees and shifting sand dunes. An oasis on the grassy plains of New Mexico, It is a popular fishing spot with a 3-acre pond.
The fishing pond is a big draw for this park as well as the low-cost campsites. You can catch catfish and trout. An especially nice feature of the fishing pond is that it is wheelchair accessible. There is an area that you can get right up to the edge of the pond. Also, some of the picnic tables are wheel-chair accessible also.
Oasis State Park has 26 sites including 10 premium tent sites, 13 RV sites with electric and water plus 2 beautiful ADA campsites.
Oasis State Park is located near both Portales and Clovis, New Mexico.
Favorite activities at Oasis Stae Park are hiking on the trails, birdwatching, and fishing.

LIVING IN PORTALES, CDMX MEXICO CITY
Alice and Greg pay a visit to their friend Paige (who previously appeared in our video about Pulquerias in CDMX). At the time of this video, Paige was living in Colonia Portales, Mexico City and getting ready to move to New York City. Portales is a familiar (family-oriented) neighborhood in the southeast part of greater Mexico City. It is known for a beautiful park - Parque los Venados - and its easy accessibility to other parts of Mexico City via various forms of public transportation, which has made it very popular for working families.
Portales is home to Mercado Portales, a large daily fresh food and housewares market, as well as Tianguis Portales, a flea market that specializes in vintage collectibles, electronics, stereo equipments, vinyl, and clothes.
In this video, Paige gives us a short tour of her two bedroom apartment, talks about the rental price and what is included, and chats about living in Portales.

10 Safest Mexican States - to Live in or Retire to
In this video, we have ranked the 10 safest Mexican states for those who wish to live in Mexico or retire to Mexico. We have considered a variety of resources to establish this list, including the Mexican Peace Index, the US Travel Advisory, and the official Mexican crime statistics. Once we have established the 10 safest Mexican states, we then drill down on each state to determine the advantages of living or retiring in each state, the most popular expat cities in each state, the cost of living in these popular cities, and any concerns for each state.
Mexico is a desired location for expats and retirees for its close proximity to North America, its affordable healthcare and cost of living, its warm weather, its diverse culture, and its lifestyle options. The primary concern often expressed by individuals, however, is the high crime rate in some locations. This video looks to provide viewers with a sense of which areas have higher safety levels and details associated with these areas.
We cover popular expat states for living and retiring such as Yucatan, Veracruz, Nayarit, Campeche, and Coahuila, as well as some less discussed options such as Aguascalientes, Chiapas, Tabasco, Hidalgo, and Tlaxcala.
We provide the following information links for those who are interested in researching this information and locations further:
