Albania’s Best Guesthouse - Lorenc Guesthouse And Hostel, Berat 🇦🇱
◾️BERAT, ALBANIA: Albania’s Best Guesthouse - Lorenc Guesthouse and Hostel In Berat, Albania 🇦🇱
Are you planning a trip to Albania? If the answer is yes then I recommend for you to visit the beautiful, historic and very friendly city of Berat, Albania. During my trip to this amazing city I was lucky enough to meet Lorenc, who is now a lifelong friend of mine and I plan to visit again upon my next trip to this amazing country.
Lorenc Pushi owns his own guesthouse: Lorenc Guesthouse and Hostel in Berat, Albania; along with his family. You can find Lorenc Guesthouse and Hostel on trip advisor, booking.com, air bnb, MOMONDO.co.uk and many other related websites. His guesthouse is rated as ‘excellent’ and has received outstanding reviews online (go check them out!).
Lorenc Guesthouse and Hostel offers customers an authentic and very traditional Albanian experience. Lorenc and his family are also very friendly and welcoming and are a credit to the city of Berat, Albania. Lorenc provides his guests with a free traditional Albanian breakfast along with other meals throughout the day, these meals always consist of organic and locally sourced foods, all cooked and prepared to a very high standard. Lorenc Guesthouse and Hostel also provides meals cooked in the traditional oven in the garden restaurant, Lorenc barbecues locally reared meats and fish and also has vegetarian options. With this amazing food on offer, Lorenc also offers his guests home-brewed raki and both white and red wines. Proving his guests with a truly genuine Albanian experience, so you can enjoy your meal along with a glass of wine in the evenings while also enjoying the amazing views of Berat from Lorenc’s garden restaurant.
Lorenc also provides guests with entertainment, as he is a classically trained opera singer with a tenor voice (the same as Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli). He is able to play the guitar and sings in many languages.
While filming this video, it was mid February 2022 and thus the tourist season had not started yet and you can see the locals preparing the city for the influx of tourists expected in the spring/summer months.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay In Berat, more specifically at the Lorenc Guesthouse and Hostel where I was made to feel very welcome and comfortable and I was sad to leave. Upon reflection, I wished I stayed In Berat for a longer period of time because It really Is an amazing city with very kind and welcoming people.
So what are you waiting for? If you want to have the same experiences I have had then head out to Berat, Gorica, Albania and stay at the Lorenc Guesthouse and Hostel, Berat, Albania, It truly Is the best guesthouse In Albania.
Lorenc Is also very knowledgeable and educated on the history of Berat and of Albania In general, thus he offers all guests the opportunity to tour the city with him as their tour guide.
I just want to thank Lorenc and his family for really making me feel very welcome and comfortable during my stay at the Lorenc Guesthouse and Hostel. It was an amazing traditional Albanian adventure and I highly recommend to all to go and visit and stay at Lorenc’ guesthouse.
Thank you again Lorenc and I wish you and your family all the very best for the future.

EaglesLandLoop - Albania Bikepacking Tour
13-day bikepacking round trip in Albania with departure and arrival in the city of Durres.
🛣️ ROUTE 🛣️
The track develops entirely in the Albanian territory except for a small detour in the Kosovar city of Giacovia (P.S. the old school paper identity card is not welcome at the border). Initially descending towards the south, you travel along the seafront passing through the cities of Vlora, Himare, Ksamil and Saranda along marshy lagoons and breathtaking beaches. Then it goes inland via the perched towns of Girocastro and Berat, passing through the villages of Peshtan (a small place where there is a formidable family-run B&B), Polican and Elbasan. In the middle we come across the death road that connects the town of Ballaban to Osumi: a mystical experience, but largely satisfying with its fantastic canyon that awaits us at its end. Then continue north along North Macedonia border, crossing another rather demanding dirt road in the Shebenik-JabIlanicë park, where out of nowhere you come across an improbable trout restaurant, up to the town of Peshkopi. In these areas of north-eastern Albania we have found a completely opposite welcome to the magnificent reception received before and after. We had also been warned of this by other Albanians met during the trip. Following the towns of Kukes and Fierze from where we crossed the lake of Koman via a small ferry that the locals use daily to reach their jobs. From here we continue to the very pleasant Scutari. City located near the homonymous lake and capital of Albanian culture that marks the border line between the still somewhat backward and poor countries of the hinterland and a decidedly growing and developing city. A day in the town of Theth in the Albanian Alps, before visiting the castle of Kruja until arriving in Tirana, a city in line with the canons of a classic European metropolis. The journey ends in the port city of Durres, featuring a beautiful waterfront and honestly little more than that.

ABANDONED Buildings Consume This Country! (Durrës, Albania)
Abandoned buildings are fascinating. Why would someone pick up their stuff and just leave? What happens to a place long forgotten and left to the elements? Why abandon your home, life and country? Most importantly how does this become an epidemic that sweeps across a country? That's the question I explore in this video.
After only a couple of hours in Albania I quickly discovered that the country had a history of abandoned buildings. I figured it was because of the collapse of communism, I was wrong. The real answer was much more complex. As I explored these abandoned neighbourhoods, my travels quickly delved into dark tourism.
Join me as I tell the story of how a country produced so many abandoned buildings and what the future holds for Albania. If you like these videos exploring the untold history and culture of countries around the world consider subscribing!

Travelling Albania | 8 day Albanian Adventure by Horseback
In April 2019 I had the incredible opportunity to visit Albania - a country I didn't know anything about.
We trekked through the Albanian Mountains near Gjirokastra by horseback, staying with local families in tiny villages along the way, exploring the Zagoria Valley and it's surrounds.
It was an absolutely incredible trip, that lies very close to my heart.
The Albanian horses are descendants of the Tarpan - so are very hardy and small in stature.
Fair warning: I don't have a stabilising camera, so if you suffer from seasickness probably don't watch the video as it's hard to keep the camera still while riding a horse!
For anyone interested in booking this ride, you can do so here:

S23EP07 | ALBANIA our FIRST 24
After arriving in Vlorë, Albania by ferry from Italy we had to take care of a few admin issues.
First was compulsory 3rd party insurance as our EU greencard did not provide cover in Albania.
Then it was a hunt for an ATM that doesn't charge crazy transaction fees. We checked a bunch of banks and the average fee with cash withdrawal seem to be around 500-700 lek - this is in addition to the currency conversion charge you may incur. (We found Credins Bank to be the only bank that don't charge a fee for withdrawals).
For cell cover we compared ONE.AL with VODAFONE.AL and eventually got 3 sims from the ONE which should also roam (like home) in the rest of the Western Balkans.
