इतिहास ( History ) :
PITHAPURAM is the famous Datta Kshetra located in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh state in India.
Pithapuram is also known as Dakshina Kasi (or THE KASI OF THE SOUTH).
PITHAPURAM was earlier known as PEETHA PURAM OR PEETHIKAPURAM which means the place bearing the peetha (seat) sthan. This place is considered as the 10TH SHAKTHI PEETHAM OF THE 18 (ASTHADASA) SHAKTHI PETTHAS. Shakti Peethas divine shrines of Devi. These are shrines that are highly revered by Shaktas(Shaktism). The mythology says about the falling of parts of the corpse of Sati Devi, when Lord Shiva took it and wandered. Here the seat place of shakthi has fallen.
Lord Dattatreya had been SWAYAMBHUVU here.That means the idol present in the Temple is not carved by any one. Instead he appeared on his own . Unlike other Datta kshetras Idol is worshipped here. Sripada Vallabha charita proves that Here Datta had been worshipped since 1350 A.D by Appala Raja Sharma (father of sripada).A Temple is erected for Datta and a audumbar tree is also planted beneath which we can see the footprints(padukas) of the lord and Sripada’s idol is also placed.
Localites believe that if anyone goes to this Datta Temple with a desire to be fulfilled they have to carry a coconut and after performing pooja that coconut is placed behind Lord’s idol. It is believed that doing this Datta fulfills the desires within 3 months.

Our second day of road-trip, which started at Amaravathi near the bank of Krishna river & Undavalli caves, continued to Pithapuram via Rajamahendravaram, crossing the Godavari river and ended near Annavaram temple; covering almost 375 kms in a single day.
Kukkuteswara Temple is a Hindu temple in Pitapuram town of Kakinada district, Andhra Pradesh, India. The temple is prominent in both Saivite and Shakta Hindu traditions. It is one of the eighteen Maha Sakthi Peethas considered the most significant pilgrimage destinations in Shaktism. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Kukkuteswara, a form of Lord Siva as a rooster and his consort Rajarajeswari Devi. The temple of Puruhutika Devi, one of the Maha Shakti Peethas is on the premises of Kukkuteswara Temple.
Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy Temple is a Hindu-Vaishnavite temple situated at Annavaram town in Kakinada district, of Andhra Pradesh state, India. The temple is on a hillock named Ratnagiri on the banks of river Pampa and is dedicated to Veera Venkata Satyanarayana, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It can be accessed by both foot steps made of stone and by road. The Temple resembles a chariot with four wheels in four corners with the gold plated main entrance.

पिठापुरम हे भारताच्या आंध्र प्रदेश राज्यातल्या पूर्व गोदावरी जिल्ह्यातील गाव आहे. हे गाव भारतातल्या ५५ शक्तिपीठांपैकी एक समजले जाते. येथे दत्ताचे देऊळ आहे. दत्ताचा अवतार समजल्या जाणाऱ्या श्रीपाद वल्लभ यांचे हे जन्मस्थळ आहे.
पौराणिक कथा-
गयासुराच्या शरीरावर देवतांनी यज्ञ केला. तेव्हा त्याचे मस्तक गयेस होते. तर पाय पिठापुरम येथे होते. म्हणून या क्षेत्रास पादगया असेही म्हणतात. संपूर्ण भारत देशात काशी येथे बिंदू-माधव, प्रयाग येथे वेणी-माधव, रामेश्वर येथे सेतु- माधव, त्रिवेंदम येथे सुंदर-माधव तर पिठापुरम येथे कुंती -माधव अशी माधवाची पाच मंदिरे आहेत. पांडव माता कुंतीने जेथे माधवाची पूजा केली, ते हे स्थान.

हैद्राबाद-विशाखापट्टणमच्या मार्गावरील गाड्या सामलकोट जंक्शनला थांबतात. येथून पिठापुरम अर्ध्या तासाच्या अंतरावर आहे.

The Kukkuteswara Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located in the town of Pithapuram, in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, India.
It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the most prominent Shiva temples in the region.
It is one of the eighteen Maha Sakthi Peethas considered the most significant pilgrimage destinations in Shaktism.
The temple is also famous for its single-stone Nandi (Eka Sila Nandi in Telugu).
The temple's name, Kukkuteswara, is derived from the words Kukkuta, which means rooster, and Isvara, which means Lord. Legend has it that Lord Shiva was worshipped by a rooster at this spot, hence the unique name of the temple.
Inside the temple, the main deity is Lord Shiva, worshipped in the form of a Shiva Linga. The Linga is a sacred symbol representing the divine energy of Lord Shiva and is the focal point of devotion and offerings in the temple.
The Kukkuteswara Temple holds immense religious significance and attracts a large number of devotees and pilgrims throughout the year. It serves as a spiritual sanctuary where people come to seek blessings, offer prayers, and find solace in the presence of Lord Shiva.

This video is about our 6th day tour of our Andhra Pradesh. You will see the journey from Kakinada to Rajahmundry (Rajamahendravaram), following are the activities which we had done throughout the day. Kakinada to Rajahmundry - 70 km
Date of journey - 15th Jan 2023.
In this series you will see Vizag, Araku, Lambasingi, Annavaram, Rajahmundry, Machilipatnam and Vijayawada.
Kakinada is about 160 km away from Visakhapatnam.
Bhimas Tiffin Centre - We had our breakfast at this restaurant.
Pesarattu with Upma - Rs 65. Good breakfast joint at Kakinada.
Kotiah Kaza - Just opposite to Bhimas tiffin, we went to Kotiah Kaza, quite popular, most recommended by the locals.
15 Rs per pc and Rs 280 per kg.
Proceeded towards Coringa wildlife sanctuary,
Coringa wildlife sanctuary - it is the third largest mangrove forest in india, we walked for about 2 km on a board, then reached the boating point.
Boating charges - Rs 100 per person for normal boat, Speed boat - Rs 200 per person.
Timings - 9am to 5 pm
Subbayya Gari Hotel - We went to the oldest branch in kakinada, the best place to taste all the andhra delicacies in one go.
Price for non ac sitting - Rs 160 & AC sitting - Rs 230.
For Bhuta bhojnam (parcel) - Rs 375
Food at this hotel was among my best 5 of India and best of Andhra Pradesh.
Kakinada Beach - this beach elevation is just 2m above sea level, so it is quite uncommon.

Pitapuram is a town in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is home to a famous temple dedicated to Lord Sri Kukkuteswara Swamy, which attracts devotees from all over the country. The temple is located on the banks of River Godavari and is believed to be one of the most sacred places for Hindus.
The temple is said to have been built during the 9th century by the Eastern Chalukya kings, and was later renovated by the Kakatiya kings. The main deity of the temple is Lord Sri Kukkuteswara Swamy, who is believed to be a form of Lord Shiva. The temple also houses idols of Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesha and other Hindu deities.
