Top 5 places near Bangkok the local recommended for day trips

One great perk about Bangkok is that a couple-hour car ride takes you to completely different scenery and vibes. So even if you are time-strapped but want to explore more than the busy metropolis, Here are the top 5 places to visit in a day-trip from Bangkok.

1. Ayutthaya: Historical Park and Scenic Ancient Temples
Ayutthaya probably made it to your must-go list already. It was Thailand’s capital city for 400 years before it burnt down during the Siamese-Burmese war. Today, old-world charms make it a classic must-visit city. Here, over 60 temples and ruins still stand against the change of time. Just an hour away from Bangkok, you can explore the stunning ancient architecture, and discover lives in the golden time of Thailand.
More info:

2. Kanchanaburi: Stunning scenery and trace WWII through attractions
If you’re into both history and nature, we honestly think Kanchanaburi will be your next favorite city like it is ours. Here, you can discover another side of Thailand’s past during World War II among the scenic natural attractions and chilling atmosphere. We also love its countless crystal clear waterfalls and the abundant wilderness. The Death Railway (aka Thai-Burma Railway) is a sad but vital monument of what happens when we go to war with each other. Enjoy tracing through history at the fascinating museum and exhibition that shed light on the global war in this part of the world.
More info:

3. Nakhon Pathom: See a peaceful local life along a canal & enjoy local activities
Just a short drive from Bangkok, you can take a break from the big city to the fresh air. See a way of life in the countryside and enjoy activities like a local that you should not miss. Here, hop on a long tail boat and absorb the laid-back vibe along Mahasawat Canal and try the most authentic Thai dishes. Visit the Lotus Farm and learn how to fold the lotus leaves. Enjoy riding the tractor through the fruit farm and try the freshly made fruit juice. Just within grasp, there are endless things to be discovered at Nakhon Pathom.
More info:

4. Floating Markets & Railway Market
Thailand has a handful of iconic floating markets with an infinite variety of local treats. Damnoen Saduak floating market is one of the best, and if you haven’t already, check out Maeklong Railway Market. Vendors sit with their trade practices on the side of the railway, and pull away in a flash every time the train is arriving.
More info:

5. Khao Yai National Park: Hiking & Picnic
Even as Thais, we think Khao Yai one-day trip is an appealing idea. You can do a chill hike or animal watching in the lush and huge National Park. There are also many natural plants for you to admire, and the serene nature to make you feel relaxed, slow days and have a picnic lunch at the national park are the best.

#10 Top 10 Things to Do Bangkok NOW - Visit GOLDEN mount at Sunset By Khlong Saen Saeb Canal Boat

Took the Khlong Saen Saep Canal Boat to the Golden Mount in Bangkok. I was hoping to experience some of the Loy Krathong celebrations, but unfortunately it did not work today.

The Golden Mount or Wat Saket is a man made hill which is 77 meters high. To walk up the Wat Saket you have to climb 344 stairs. I was there around sunset and had great views. It is a must see in Bangkok.

Breathtaking Adventure in Phetchaburi Province Thailand 🇹🇭 This Cave Was Spectacular

PHETCHABURI, THAILAND - On the way to the famous destination of Hua Hin, you will find the province of Phetchaburi. Make sure you stop over here on your way from Bangkok because it is full of surprises. You have stunning mountain landscapes, the ocean, delicious Thai food, rural farms, tranquil caves and as ever, lots of friendly local Thai people. This Thailand province is very rural, very beautiful, and very fun to travel around by motorcycle on this tour of Southern Thailand.

I visit Kaeng Krachan Lake which is a stunning reservoir lake in the province. There are amazing views over the rolling mountains and little islands. I then visit a little fishing village on the coast and stop in a market. Later I head to Tham Khao Luang, a beautiful mountain cave temple in the city of Phetchaburi which King Rama IV of Thailand helped build.

We are Fridtjov and Julia, a travel couple from Norway and Germany on our very first trip around the world.

Here at JJ's Journey, we upload daily vlogs to collect our travel memories and share all our ups and downs along the way with you, so that you get an honest insight into how it is to travel together as a couple.

We will also try to provide you with helpful travel tips and recommendations for places to visit 2018 that we pick up together with you on the way.

The truth is, we are just an everyday couple that fell in love with travelling. We do not know yet, what the future holds for us, where we will be in one year and for how long we can afford to travel. For now we are just grateful for every single day we have the opportunity to live the life we always have been dreaming of.

4K | CHIANG MAI | The Idyllic Capital of Northern Thailand | Travel Guide | 2022

Welcome to A&A travelling and Chiang Mai the idyllic cultural capital of northern Thailand. We explored the City for 10 days and we will definitely comeback soon... Chiang Mai is one of the most popular destinations in Thailand, perhaps second only to Bangkok in its appeal. It`s a beautiful town known for its hill tribes, lush rainforests, Elephant Sanctuaries, amazing food and over 300 hundred buddhist temples for you to visit. There are plenty of night markets, we visited the Saturday Night Market, Tha Pae Sunday Market, Fruit Market, Flower market, Chiang Mai Gate Market and some other smaller markets.

Many digital nomads travel to Chiang Mai hoping to stay for just a few weeks, then wind up staying a few months instead. If you spend a few days here, you`ll see exactly what we mean.

BEST TIME TO VISIT CHIANG MAI
Weather-wise, November to February is the ideal time to visit northern Thailand. It`s the coolest and driest time of the year... if you come early in November the Yee Peng and loy krathong festivals take place... it`s a popular event that attracts thousands of tourists every year, making it one of the most vibrant times to be in the region.

Mars-May is the hottest time to be in Northern Thailand with temperatures reaching 38-40 degrees (104 F). It isn`t the most comfortable time to visit, but Songkran or the Thai New Year is celebrated every April and turns the city into a giant water fight.

Juny-October is the moosoon season in Northern Thailand and probably not the best time to visit the region.

NOTE: while using the ATM, some machines may ask you if you`d like to proceed with or without conversion. Never proceed with conversion because doing so allows the foreign bank operating the ATM to do the conversion for you, usually at poor exchange rates. Always proceed without conversion

TOP THINGS TO DO IN CHIANG MAI

DOI ITHANON NATIONAL PARK,
known for being the roof of Thailand is not to be missed. The easiest way to see this amazing Park is probably through a local tour service. Simple ask at your hotel and they will be more than happy to arrange this for you as there are many tour companies that run trips here.

ELEPHANT JUNGLE SANCTUARY
A day trip to the Sanctuary includes pick up from your hotel, an educational talk about the elephants and why they had to be rescued, lots of feeding and play time with the elephants including helping to bathe the elephants in the river...so, be prepared to get wet..

WAT PHRA THAT DOI SUTHEP
This temple is one of the most famous temples in the whole of Thailand. Climb the famous 360 steps to the top of the mountain or you can also take the elevator for for 20 thb...and take the stairs down on the way back. Once you arrived you can enjoy the beautiful views and the serene and mystical atmosphere of the ancient temples..

SILVER TEMPLE
This temple in Chiang Mai is the main shrine to the God, Ubosot. It is made from silver wich represents Yin energy and is linked to the moon which is also meant to be very old and wise.
Unfortunately, there is a strict rule against women being allowed inside the temple which is very much enforced..

WAT CHIANG MAN
This is the oldest temple in Chiang Mai

SUNDAY WALKING STREET NIGHT MARKET
A visit to Chiang Mai would not be complete without a trip to the famous Sunday Walking Street Night Market. Whilst there are many markets in Chiang Mai, this particular one spans an impressive kilometer and is filled with many unique treasures and delicious food.

WUA LAY SATURDAY NIGHT MARKET
This is definitely another Street Market worth visitng, taking place every Saturday. Open from 4.00pm to 10.30pm.

BUAK HAAD PUBLIC PARK CHIANG MAI
This beautiful recreational park is worth visitng, you will see Thai people relaxing and engaged in different acivities...

MAE SA WATERFALL
This waterfall is part of the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park and one of the most famous waterfalls in
Chiang Mai.

LONG NECK VILLAGE
The land of the giraffe women as polish explorer Vitold De Golish called it, lies in eastern Burma plateau dimpled by terraced, paddy-filled valley. Here lives Padang, a tribe of about 7000 members.
The pratice of the brass rings helps them maintain individual and tribal identity....

STREET FOOD & RESTAURANTS
The food in Chiang Mai is delicious regardless of where you eat....we tried many different street food places and restaurants and the places we show in our video are really very good...
we recommend looking for places where Thai Nationals eat, you will be surprised how good the food is and low priced.

NOTE! always say to the staff when ordering the food, how spicy you want it....
Mai Pet means no spicy.

Visiting Stunning PHRAE Province: Unseen AMAZING Thailand 🇹🇭

PHRAE, THAILAND - Another unseen Thailand adventure in another stunning province, Phrae Province Thailand. I visit two unique Thai temples but one literally took my breath away. Travelling along the rural roads made me happy but hiking up 700 steps to a giant big Buddha statue and watching sunset over the rolling Phrae mountains was stunning. Phrae province is a special place off the beaten path and I cannot recommend it highly enough. On the climb up to the temple, I open up a little bit on my road trip around the north and my struggles with anxiety. It is a little heart to heart because it is good to open up and talk sometimes.

This is the BEST day trip in Chiang Mai, Thailand!🇹🇭

Today we visited Bua Tong Waterfall, also known as Sticky Waterfall, just outside of Chiang Mai, Thailand!
We rode our scooter about an hour north through Mae Rim district, taking in the sites of northern thailand - a great road trip.
We climbed the sticky waterfall and were blown away by how weird it feels!
On the way back we stopped at a local vendor and tried some thai Fruit - including the first time we tried Guava - farang eating farang!
