How to get from Dublin Airport to the centre of Dublin - Travel Guide

Dublin Airport (Aerfort Bhaile Átha Cliath) (IATA: DUB, ICAO: EIDW) is the international airport serving Dublin, Ireland. Roughly 33 million passengers pass through Dublin Airport every year making it the 12th biggest airport in Europe. More importantly, how do you the passenger get from Arrivals to the centre of Dublin? What's the price of a Taxi to Dublin? How much is the Bus to the Dublin centre? How long is the journey from the Airport to Temple Bar?

I'm The Wondering Englishman - I spend my days wondering what places are like and what wonders they may have to offer. My YouTube Channel focuses on Travel content - taking in the world's wonders. 10 Things To Do in Dublin, Ireland on May 2020

✅Best-Selling travel gear
😃Booking.com Deals

If the ‘luck of the Irish’ is on your side and you find yourself in the infamous city of Dublin, there will be countless things for you to do and see while you’re there. Not only is Dublin deeply rooted in their incredible history, but culture and – well, booze – the people of Dublin are also all such characters, as well. Whether they are sharing long-winded stories, singing local songs or telling the odd joke here and there to make you laugh, the locals never fail to put a smile on your face.

Welcome to things to do Channel today we’re going to list ten things to do in Dublin.

Shop at Dublin Flea Market.

Although you can probably find a flea market happening on almost any corner and side street in Dublin (especially on the weekends), the Dublin Flea Market is a huge indoor flea market that happens on the last Sunday of every month and has become one of the most beloved in Dublin.

Have fun at the Dublin Zoo.

Located within Phoenix Park, the Dublin Zoo is an excellent addition to your day. With a huge variety of animals to see and a very well laid-out map, this excursion is great for individuals or groups of all ages.

Check out the Christ Church Cathedral.

The second of Dublin’s medieval cathedrals, Christ Church Cathedral, is yet another of Dublin’s architectural wonders. More formally known as The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, this fully-operational church is the cathedral of the United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough.

See the Dublin Castle.

Take a trip back to prehistoric Dublin by visiting the famous Dublin Castle. With over 800 years of Irish memories encapsulated within its walls, this incredible structure has borne witness to some of the most pivotal events in all of the country’s history.

The beauty of St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Known as the largest church in all of Ireland, St. Patrick’s Cathedral is actually one of two cathedrals that were built on Dublin soil. However, St. Patrick's Cathedral still remains the most popular of the two when it comes to tourists. The cathedral was originally founded in 1191 and is rife with over 800 years of Irish history and culture.

Marvel The Spire of Dublin.

One of the easiest monuments to spot from afar, The Spire stands proudly in the center of O’Connell street towering approximately 120 meters above ground. This completely stainless-steel structure is about 3 meters in diameter at the base and 15 centimeters at its apex.

Tour the Old Jameson Distillery.

Another historical gem is the Old Jameson Distillery, located just off Smithfield Square. This location previously used to be the original site where Jameson whiskey was manufactured and distilled until it stopped production in the early 1970s.

Party of The Temple Bar.

The Temple Bar is quite possibly one of the most iconic bars in all of Dublin, with tourists flocking from all over the world to have a drink inside its famous walls. Although the history of the bar dates back to the early 1300s, it still remains popular to this day due to its famous red exterior, its great location in the heart of the city, as well as being a huge part of Dublin’s central nightlife scene.

Get Inspired by the Trinity College Library.

An incredible architectural wonder, and a room most bibliophiles would only dream of finding themselves in, the Trinity College Library is the largest library in all of Ireland. It is also home to the famous Book of Kells – an ornate, beautifully-illuminated manuscript containing all of the four Gospels of the New Testament that’s over 1000 years old. Its most famous section, known as The Long Room, has been known to resemble the Jedi Archives in Star Wars. Unfortunately, the main library is only open to staff, graduates and students of the university, but that doesn’t stop tourists from taking a gander at the Old Library that’s open to visitors and located within its quarters.

Take a Trip to Wicklow Mountains.

One of the best day trips out of the city – and a must-see during your trip to Dublin – is a tour of Wicklow Mountains. Famously known for the filming location of the popular romance film, P.S. I Love You, this unbelievably beautiful landscape looks even more magnificent in person than it does on-screen. A basic tour costs around €22 which covers transportation to and from Dublin, along with a brief history of the region, a traditional Irish lunch and free time to roam and explore the land’s natural beauty. Make sure to bring your camera.

Go-Ahead Ireland: 75 to Tallaght | Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 / Volvo B9TL - 11904 / 132-D-6228

Recording date: 10th of August 2023

Happened to be travelling home from Dún Laoghaire so I decided to record part of the journey home as far as Stillorgan. 11904 is quite a nice bus in itself; nice engine sound and a smooth enough journey. It got very warm onboard as this was a really sunny day, so there was the natural heat along with the heat dissipation from the engine. As it was rush hour, it got too busy to record any further than Stillorgan, especially when we got to Dundrum TC it got almost full.
This bus was originally GT104 of the Dublin Bus fleet. It was based at the Ringsend depot until transferral.

Ireland
Facts
Ireland is known for its wide expanses of lush, green fields. In fact, its nickname is the Emerald Isle.
But there are also large areas of rugged, rocky landscape. About 15,000 years ago,
Ireland was completely covered by thick glaciers.
The movement of these giant sheets of ice stripped the soil,
leaving huge tracts of flat, limestone pavement.

NATURE
The Irish have a great affection for nature and rural life.
The country's first coins even featured pictures of animals.
Low levels of development and pollution in Ireland have left most of the nation's open spaces relatively undisturbed.
Did you know that there are no wild snakes in Ireland?
The sea has stopped many animals common on mainland Europe from reaching the island.
There are also only two wild mouse species, one type of lizard, and just three kinds of amphibians.

The strawberry beds Dublin and the silver Bridge

As the Bridge has four different names that I know of,three of which as I understand are nicknames, strawberry beds bridge ,as it is in or near strawberry beds, Guinness bridge, as the Guinness family owned the Farmleigh estate, the silver bridge, as in once it was it's colour, and it's current name Farmleigh bridge,I shall do a video for each name so people that know it by their preferred name can find it.

The Farmleigh Bridge (Irish: Droichead Farmleigh), also known as the Silver Bridge, Guinness Bridge or Strawberry Beds Bridge,is a disused bridge spanning the River Liffey and the Lower Lucan Road in Dublin, Ireland.

A single-span cast iron box truss bridge, with stone and masonry supports, it was built in the 1870s to carry water pipes and electricity lines from the mill race turbine to nearby Farmleigh house.Privately built by the Guinness family, it was also used by staff who lived on the south side of the river (by Palmerstown) as a short-cut to the grand house.
The bridge (near the Angler's Rest pub) is long disused, with no remaining base or platform to carry traffic. Though the elaborate stone gateway remains, the tunnel is no longer accessible and has been collapsed.
As of late 2015, campaigners had initiated a petition for the bridge to be restored and used as part of a Liffey greenway plan. However, as of mid-2016, no funding had been allocated by Fingal Council to renovation of the bridge.
let's hope it doesn't become the forgotten or lost bridge???
