As we begin a new adventure in the state of Michoacan we discovered this incredible 150 year old posada now serving as an airbnb hostel with one of the most unique architectures I have ever seen. Inspired by the Monarch butterflies that come ever year as their place of stay during the winter, this home served as a great starting point in our adventure.

Michoacan Coast: headlands vista from mexican coastal highway 200
We stopped on just one headland vista of many on the Michoacan coast: wild with tons of unsettled land due to the steep terrain. You average maybe 20 mph on this coast portion of about 4 hours. Pretty crappy road with tons of potholes and broken pavement which is most of hwy 200 all the way from Puerto Vallarta to the Guat border.

A yearly tradition on Holy Saturday (The Saturday before Easter) where locals burn Judas! It wasn't what I expected... but it was a fun night of fireworks and almost getting burned ourselves!
Called Quema de Judas, this is where locals create artwork depicting Judas or other treacherous foes or scapegoats and then burn them for all to see!
