Experience Yoruba Spirituality in the Osun Sacred Grove - The 10 Best Things to Do in Nigeria.
In the past, sacred forests existed on the edge of many Yoruba settlements. Most have now disappeared due to extensive urbanization, with the exception of the Osun Sacred Grove, located along the banks of the Osun River on the outskirts of Osogbo. Believed to be the dwelling place of the Yoruba goddess of fertility, Osun, the grove is dotted with sanctuaries and shrines where traditional priests and priestesses host daily worship ceremonies. The forest also showcases the sculptures of Austrian Susanne Wenger, who is credited with helping to save the grove when its existence was threatened in the 1950s. Travel during the 12-day Osun-Osogbo Festival (usually held in July or August) to witness religious celebrations and authentic Yoruba music and dancing. .

Chasing The Truth About Osogbo Nigeria | Trailer
When I searched for osogbo keywords, all I got were yahoo, yahoo related stories, which made me upset because I knew osogbo has a lot more to offer than just yahoo yahoo stories. Osun State has the best tourist attraction site in Nigeria and she’s the most visit state in Nigeria.
This past weekend, I travelled from Ibadan to Osogbo for the first time to learn about the genuine history of the Osogbo people, which has led me to believe that Osogbo is one of the best places on Yoruba soil. This video is about how they fought and defeated the Fulanis with the help of the goddess Osun (Ochun). We'll still bring you the complete story, but in the meantime, enjoy this trailer.

Sacred grove in Nigeria
Osun-Osogbo a sacred grove in Nigeria, goddess lives here
Welcome to our channel. Do you ever hear about Osun-Osogbo, a sacred grove in Nigeria where a goddess lives? Or why has Osun-Osogbo become a frightening place for the entire world? If you are curious enough to know about the whole scenario, keep watching our video to learn about the largest sacred grove in Nigeria, Osun-Osogbo.
A tour of OSUN OSOGBO SACRED GROOVE; ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW about yoruba tradition idols and shrines.
In this video, i and a few friends decided to visit osun state for the first time on tour. Though i reside in Ibadan Oyo state, i had never been to the famous osogbo town in Osun.
Our destination was the Osun Oshogbo sacred groove, prior to my visit, all i knew about the place was that it was a tourist attraction with lots of cute monkeys living freely in their natural habitat. what no one told me was that, i was visiting the biggest site housing yoruba heritage, relics, artifacts and items of traditional African worship. This place known as the OSUN SACRED GROOVE is listed as UNESCO as one of the world heritage centers of the world. The dense forest of the Osun Sacred Grove, on the outskirts of the city of Osogbo, is one of the last remnants of primary high forest in southern Nigeria. Regarded as the abode of the goddess of fertility Osun, one of the pantheon of Yoruba gods, the landscape of the grove and its meandering river is dotted with sanctuaries and shrines, sculptures and art works in honour of Osun and other deities. The sacred grove, which is now seen as a symbol of identity for all Yoruba people, is probably the last in Yoruba culture. It testifies to the once widespread practice of establishing sacred groves outside all settlements.
The Grove is an active religious site where daily, weekly and monthly worship takes place. In addition, an annual processional festival to re-establish the mystic bonds between the goddess and the people of the town occurs every year over twelve days in July and August and thus sustains the living cultural traditions of the Yoruba people.
The Grove is also a natural herbal pharmacy containing over 400 species of plants, some endemic, of which more than 200 species are known for their medicinal uses.

I TRIED SOLO TRAVEL FOR MY BIRTHDAY Here's What Happened in Osogbo
I took a solo trip to Osun, Osogbo state in Nigeria to relax plus it was my birthday so it was a perfect opportunity to chill and take a break from work. I had such an amazing experience in Osogbo, met amazing people, and played an unplanned tourist (lol).
Love the peace and serenity, indeed it was a time to rejuvenate for the tasks ahead. Stayed at Nike ambassadorial guest house, and visited the Nike art gallery, workshop, and also the Osun sacred groove. Osogbo is so peaceful and serene and I enjoyed their Amala. I totally recommend the town and I would love to visit again!
