Danube crossing, Oryahovo, Vratsa Province, Bulgaria, Europe
Oryahovo is a port city in northwestern Bulgaria, part of Vratsa Province. It is located in a hilly country on the right bank of the Danube, just east of the mouth of the river Ogosta, a few more kilometres downstream from where the Jiu flows into the Danube on Romanian territory. The town is known for the ferry service that connects it to the Romanian town of Bechet across the river. There are also plans by local private companies for a bridge across the Danube. As of December 2009, Oryahovo has a population of 5,400 inhabitants. The town's name has evolved through the course of history, with names such as Vrhov, Orezov, Oreov and Rahovo being mentioned in documents until the current one was officially established in 1886. The area around Oryahovo has been inhabited since ancient times, as archaeological research has proven with findings from the early Neolithic to the Late Middle Ages. A fortress called Kamaka is located 1 km east from Oryahovo, which existed from the 9th to the 14th century. In 1396, the city, already controlled by the Ottoman Turks, was sacked and its Ottoman civilian inhabitants killed while the prisoners massacred by French crusaders heading towards Nicopolis. The troops of Holy Roman Emperor Sigismund and Polish King Władysław III of Varna passed through the fortress during their unsuccessful crusades against the Ottoman Empire. During the Bulgarian National Revival, Oryahovo established itself as an economic and industrial centre and a key point for the supply of the Ottoman Empire with goods through the Danube. The town was mentioned as an important Danube port in a 1762 book printed in Brussels. The St George Church was opened in 1837, a secular school was built in the town in 1857 and a community centre followed in 1871. During the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-78, the town was liberated on 21 November 1877 by Romanian forces after three-day fighting. A memorial by Italian sculptor Arnaldo Zocchi was erected in their honour. After the liberation, Oryahovo was known for the lively trade and rich cultural life. A provincial centre for three months, it became the centre of an okrag for 10 years (1877-1882 and 1884-1889). The architecture from the period is typically influenced by the one of Western Europe, with many such buildings being preserved today. A railway line linking Oryahovo with Cherven Bryag was constructed in 1926, a new church, the Assumption of Mary Church, opened in 1930, and a new building for the community centre was built in 1936 after a project by two Vidin architects. Some of the first industrial companies in the city, a spare parts factory and a metalworking company, were opened in 1961. Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, a short drive west of town, is also a major employer. The ferry Oryahovo - Beckett, crossing Danube, is one of the main transport corridors from Bulgaria to Romania. This is the most direct route from Sofia to Romania, Ukraine and other countries.

[4K] Теснолинейката; Всички гари от Септември до Добринище / Stations from Septemvri to Dobrinishte
In this video you can see all the stations of the only remaining narrow gauge railway in Bulgaria - from Septemvri to Dobrinishte. You can enjoy the beauty of three of the mountains in Bulgaria - Rila, Rodopi and Pirin. You can also see some of the most popular resort towns in Bulgaria - Velingrad, Yakoruda, Razlog, Bansko and Dobrinishte. The composition of the fast train 1661 was 6-car, hauled by narrow-gauge diesel locomotive 75 005 of BDZ PP. The purpose of this trip was to photograph the entire distance between Septemvri and Dobrinishte, but due to a problem with the records, I was only able to save those with stations. The recording issue is also the culprit behind the delay in publishing this video. I have also purposely left somewhere where there are no stations due to the many beautiful sights on this route. The entries for shot with Gopro Hero 9 on 30.06.2022. Have a nice viewing!

STONE & GARDEN HOUSE - Beautiful Bulgarian Property - Ready To Move In!
This Property Has Now Sold
WhatsApp - +359893897634
Here we have a beautiful fully renovated property, ready for you to arrive and move straight in.
This property was purchased 4 years ago and most of the renovations were carried out within the first year. However the house has been completely redecorated and rendered within the last 2 months so that everything is fresh and clean for the new owners.
The house was built in 1956 using local granite in a peaceful location on the northern edge of a traditional Bulgaria village called Oryahovo 6555. (It's important to use the postcode as there are a few villages and towns with the same name.) Situated just a 15 minute drive to town on good roads, the village is up and coming with a post office, kids park, two village shops / bars that also serve food, a friendly mayor and a thriving community of around 200 people including around 20 foreigners from all over the world. The village is surrounded by 14 lakes, beautiful views and fascinating rock formations. We originally choose this location because of the beautiful nature, warm climate with minimal winters and its close proximity to great towns, as well being close to the Greek border crossing (30km and the Turkish border crossing (42km). The village is also perfectly located 2 hours from the Black Sea, The Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean.
As previously mentioned the house is built with local granite. Some of the front wall, as well as the kitchen extension has been built with red brick. I've just finished rendering the house with a natural lime and sand render to keep the traditional feel and give new life to this special place.
Inside you'll find two bedrooms, a conservatory, large hallway, spacious bathroom, living room, utility room and a kitchen / dining room. All the furniture and appliances photographed are included meaning one can simply turn up with a suitcase, move in and begin to personalise this space. The rooms have been repainted, everything is neural, while many of the properties original features have been kept to reseve it stunning character.
The property has been fully rewired to meet EU standards and has also been fitted with entirely new plumbing and had a cesspit added. The roof is original but absolutely solid structurally with only minimal repairs taken out over the years.
The beautiful garden is definitely one of it's key features, boasting matures fruits trees, grape vines, a shaded seating area, lawn space, huge vegetable garden, a driveway, and 4 rustic barns. One of which is very large, again made of granite, featuring incredible hand made tiles. Possibly older than the house itself. There is a deep well for water as well as pipework connected to a nearby lake which can be used through the summer for irrigation.
In the garden you'll find 3 apple trees, 3 pear trees, a cherry tree, and 2 sour cherry trees, 2 apricot trees, 2 plum trees, 2 peach trees, 2 mulberry trees, 2 fig trees, an almond tree and a walnut tree as well as many grapevines. Most of which are all mature and produce vast amounts of fruit each year. This particular climate is also renowned for it's wine making and watermelon production. Both of which we've enjoyed here.
The plot measures just under 1300 M2 or about a third of an acre. It's connected to mains electricity and also mains water. It has a brand new electric meter fitted and will have a new water meter fitted soon.
I've just begun editing a video I made of this property so if you would like to see that, or if you have any questions, please comment below, PM me, or you can find me on WhatsApp here... +359893897634
My name is Joseph and I'll be happy to assist in any way necessary. I have bought and sold many properties in Bulgaria since moving from England 7 years ago and I have a brilliant solicitor / translator as well as a notary that can help with all the paperwork.
We bought and renovated this place just before my daughter was born and imagined it to be a temporary 1 year thing. 4 years later it breaks our hearts to say goodbye to this amazing place, but we recently bought a large farm and unfortunately can't afford to keep both.
The ownership of the property is ready to be transferred immediately.
Разходка в Родопите 01 | Теснолинейка | Заслон Велийца | Орцево | Rhodope 1 | Narrow-gauge | Ortsevo
I’m Lora. Have a nice journey! ✈

Tram in Sofia, Bulgaria
The Sofia tram network is a main public transportation facility in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. It began operation on January 1, 1901. As of 2006, the tram system included approximately 308 kilometres (191 miles) of narrow and standard gauge one-way track. Most of the track is narrow gauge (1,009 mm (3 ft 3 23⁄32 in)), with standard gauge (1,435 mm (4 ft 8 1⁄2 in)) used on lines 20, 22 and 23 and accounting for approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi) of the system's track length.
