The Heart of Sweden | Siljan and the Towns of Leksand, Rättvik, Mora and Orsa
Siljan is Sweden’s seventh biggest lake and it’s located in the province of Dalarna. The area surrounding the lake has been called one of the most beautiful places in Sweden. Let's see if that's true.
In this video I travel around Siljan and visit the towns of Leksand, Rättvik, Mora and Orsa, and I also pay a visit to various other destinations along the way. Places I visit include the crispbread factory in Leksand, Springkällan in Rättvik, Dalhalla, a Dalecarlian Horse (dalahäst) manufacturer in Nusnäs, Gesundaberget, Orsa Predator Park and two canyones nearby Orsa - Helvetesfallet and Storstupet.
This video also tells the history of the province of Dalarna, and discusses its history dating back hundreds of years. You will also get some amazing views of lake Siljan, Gesundaberget, and the wonderful scenery all around the lake. So come along for a wintery road trip in the area that might be called the heart of Sweden!

An excursion to Sweden's county Dalarna - and the best places to see at Lake Siljan, Tällberg and Leksand.
What do you imagine when thinking about sweden? Do you think of red cottages, scenic lakes and pitoresque little villages? There is one county where you will find all of this. Join our excursion to famous lake Siljan and Sweden's most Swedish province Dalarna.
After doing a quick detour over Fulufjället Nationalpark we were heading right to the heart of Dalarna: to famous lake Siljan. Because I had heard so much about the area we spent a whole day at the lake to discover it's most scenic places. Here are our must-visits:
- The scenic village Leksand. Have a stroll through the tiny roads and enjoy Sweden's most famous desert: Sarah Bernhardt.
- Leksands Hembygdsgårdar: An open air museum in Leksand, that has several old houses that gives you a feeling, how life in Dalarna was several hundreds years ago
- Leksands Kyrka: The church is one of the largest rural churches in Sweden and the oldest parts of the building are from the 13th century
- Pay attention to all the red houses around the lake: Dalarna is the birthplace of the traditional red painting for cottages. The color is called Falu red - and it’s named after the mines at Falun in Dalarna, where The pigment historically originated from.
- Have a swim! Lake Siljan is swedens 6th largest lake. It is the result of a meteorite that hit the area 377 million years ago
- Visit Tällberg: All houses in Tällberg are made out of wood!
- Have dinner at the Green Hotel in Tällberg and watch the sunset!

Mora is the city that is perhaps best known for Vasaloppet (the world’s oldest long-distance cross-country ski race), Dalahästen (The Dala Horse), and Santa Claus.
Fulufjället National Park was established in 2002 and covers 385 km2 area. It is one of the largest national park outside of Norrbotten. Here you find one of Sweden's highest waterfall (Njupeskär Vattenfall) of 93 meters and the world's oldest tree, which is 9550 years old!
Njupeskär Vattenfall is located at Fulufjällets Nationalpark in Dalarna Län.
When you calculate the height of a waterfall, you also include rapids and smaller falls in direct connection to the main fall itself - and then Njupeskär is actually not the highest in Sweden. If we look across the border, to neighboring Norway, they have ten of the world's 30 highest waterfalls.

Moin Zusammen, ich hoffe Ihr seid etwas nachsichtig mit mir. Es ist meine erste Vlog Reihe :-)
Wir sind knapp 3 Wochen in Schweden unterwegs und wollen vom Norden Lapplands langsam gen Süden fahren.
Wir verzetteln uns doch so das ein oder andere mal , so das wir auch oft vom Westen nach Osten fahren. Auf diesem Roadtrip sehen wir wunderschöne schwedischen Natur.
Traumhafte Wasserfälle und Seen.
Kommt einfach mit.
Nicht so viel passiert an diesem Tag, leider war das Wetter zu schlecht. Sind deshalb nur von dem Park4Night Stellplatz Richtung Vildmarrksvägen gefahren. Ich erzähle aber einiges über die Blitzer in Schweden und wie und wo die stehen.
Das war doch eine längere Strecke, so das wir uns nur auf das fahren konzentriert haben. Es geht also immer weiter Richtung Lappland. Der See Orsa ist aber zu empfehlen ein toll gelegener See an dem auch ein Campingplatz liegt. Über Vildmarksvägen wird einiges mehr kommen. Daher freuen wir uns wenn Ihr weiter schauen würdet.

Hiking Siljansleden in Dalarna, Sweden 4K
Hiking Siljansleden in Sweden, one of the best hikes in Sweden and Dalarna.The 60 km trail stretches from Fryksås to Rättvik amongst forests, lakes and old Swedish cottages (fäbod), filmed in high res 4K with a GoPro and a Drone (Mavic Mini 2).
Itinerary:
The trek route went from Fryksås - Orsa - Brunnvasselbodarna - Tammeråsen - Rättvik. The full Siljanstrail is 340 km long but this particular 60km segment is the signature trail appointed by the Swedish tourist association.

Siljan, in Dalarna in central Sweden, is Sweden's sixth largest lake. The cumulative area of Siljan and the adjacent, smaller lakes Orsasjön and Insjön is 354 km2 (137 sq mi). Siljan reaches a maximum depth of 134 m (440 ft), and its surface is situated 161 m (528 ft) above sea level. The largest town on its shore is Mora.
Siljansbadets Camping: 4-star Camping is located along with Siljan's shallow bathing-friendly sandy beach. Many of the sites on the campsite have beach plots facing Lake Siljan and others are located under shady pines or in open sunny areas.
Rättvik: A tourist city with lineage located at the eastern shores of Siljan. In 1894 Sweden's first tourist hotel was built here, followed by a long bridge that was made for the steamboat traffic when the streams of tourists grew in the district.
