Hello everyone, welcome to our channel TillCloudEnd. This video is about our visit to a small town named Orchha which is in Madhya Pradesh State of India. It is famous for Historical as well as Religious reasons. Once upon a time it used to be capital of Bundela Reign. Also, there is a major religious belief that a Queen of Orchha brought Lord Shri Ram from Ayodhya to prove her devotion towards Shri Ram to her Husband (the King). We covered the actual story behind this belief from pandit ji of the Mandir which you can watch separately from the below Link:
Further, there is Orchha Fort, Chaturbhuj Temple, Ram Raja Sarkar Temple, Laxmi Narayan Temple, Kanchana Ghat on Betwa River, the royal chhatris, wildlife santuary and Savan-Bhado pillars.
It is to note here that the Orchha fort can be seen on foot or by renting a cycle from the ticket counter. Also, the fort is open for 24 hours on sundays and Light & sound is organised on the fort in the evenings. The timing of the show can vary from season to season.

Orchha is a historical town located in Niwari district of Madhya Pradesh state of India. It was founded by Rudra Pratap Singh Bundela as the capital of the state of the same name sometime after 1501. Orchha is situated on the banks of Betwa River in Bundelkhand region
The historic city of Orchha, located on the banks of the Betwa River, was founded in the 16th century by the Bundela Rajput chief Rudra Pratap. Here, the Betwa River splits into seven channels, also known as Satdhara. Legend has it that this is in honour of the seven erstwhile chiefs of Orchha.
The ancient city of Orchha has withstood the wrath of time, with many of its monuments still retaining their original grandeur. Here you will find some of the most fascinating temples and palaces that will help you realize your childhood fantasy – traveling back in time!

MAJESTIC ORCHHA
Exhibiting the wonderful Bundela-era legends, Orchha remains steadfast as the major historical site that has maintained the culture and legends of the rulers of the Bundela dynasty. Chieftain Rudra Pratap Singh founded Orchha on a piece of land along the Betwa river. This amazing town will fascinate you during your adventure, as it is a perfect destination to tour with friends and family. There are so many historical places to visit in Orchha and it is well connected to almost all the major towns of Madhya Pradesh.
Laxmi Narayan Temple
The history of the temple goes back to the Bundela dynasty. This temple is a square structure built by King Veer Singh Deo in 1622. The outer walls of the temple have the window like carvings and they are topped with battlements. The courtyard is surrounded by walls with galleries that run throughout them and are open to the sky. A hall is located in front of the octagonal sanctum in the centre of the courtyard. The murals that cover the galleries and vaulted roofs are the most artistic feature of the Laxminarayan Temple. The temple has some beautiful paintings on the upper part of the walls. The subjects of the paintings are particularly unusual than that of other paintings in the temple. While some of them illustrate episodes from the Ramayana, and of Lord, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, others depict mythical, martial and secular scenes. There is an outstanding painting of the 'Chungi Chirya', the giant bird that could fly high with an elephant in its claws.
Shri Ram Raja Temple
The history of this stunning Shri Ram Raja Temple (Mandir) in Orchha is very fascinating. On the site where this temple presently stands, there were idols that were planned to be installed in the beautiful Chaturbhuj Temple. The idols could not be moved once they were placed on the ground, though. As a result, the area was designated as holy, and a temple was built to house the idols.
Chaturbhuj Temple
The design of the temple is unique in terms of architecture when compared to other structures in Orchha. The dome of the temple is not ribbed but smooth like that of a mosque. The court of the temple is open to the sky and it also has rising towers resembling the Chhatris of the Bundelas. There is a statue of four armed, that is Chaturbhuj, Vishnu inside the temple. It stands on a pedestal which gives the statue a majestic appearance.

So, this video is really special as our search for an off beat destination led us to this hidden place ORCHHA In th heart of India - Madhya Pradesh.
Orchha literally means ‘hidden’ and this small village is just that secluded and still has an old age charm. The 16th century fort and the town was formed by Bundelas.
How to reach :
Jhansi is the nearest Railway station.
Private Auto Rickshaws from Janshi Railway station takes almost 250-300 INR. (we are not so good in bargaining)
Accommodation:
This small village has more hotels and restaurants than people.
We stayed at The Orchha Resort which cost us 2500/- INR per day for tent/Room (prices may differ from season to season).
You can also book online, rooms in Sheesh Mahal to stay more connected with Indian History.
Best time to visit:
Unless you want a good tan, we suggest you visit Orchha between the months of August to March.
