🇲🇽 The Most INCREDIBLE BEACH Town in MEXICO! | SAN CARLOS, SONORA | Mexico TRAVEL 2022
🇲🇽 SAN CARLOS, SONORA - Welcome to Mexico! This video is Episode 15 of my 2022 Mexico Travel series and we are continuing our journey in Sonora by heading from Ciudad Obregon to Heroica Guaymas de Zaragoza (or just Guaymas) and San Carlos Nuevo Guaymas (or just San Carlos) for the weekend. There are many popular beach locations and towns in Mexico which are popular with Mexicans, foreigners and expats alike, such as Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Acapulco and so on. But is San Carlos the most INCREDIBLE BEACH TOWN in Mexico?
*AD* - *Video sponsored by Paradise Real Estate - Interested in getting away to San Carlos? At Paradise Real Estate we can help with rentals, sales or almost anything else! We are local subject matter experts and are here to help. Visit our website at for more details!*
Sonora is a vast state, full of desert, hills, mountains and amazing Mexican food (comida mexicana) such as Carne Asada, Cahuamanta, a drink called Bacanora (coming in a future video) and so much more. San Carlos itself is tranquil and feels somewhat undiscovered, despite being home to many expats or those who have embarked on the journey of moving to Mexico.
You’ll find many things to do in San Carlos, such as Cerro Tetakawi, a monstrous volcanic hill overlooking the sea, the Vista Point which is National Geographic’s recommended ‘top ocean view in the WORLD’, numerous beaches including Los Algodones, hiking in various canyons, tourist and local restaurants, and a multitude of activities.

We begin our Baja California Road Trip crossing the border at San Ysidro (between San Diego and Tijuana) again. On my first trip crossing the US/Mexico border at San Yisidro, just outside of San Diego, I spent a week across the border discovering the best things to do in Tijuana, Mexico.
On this trip, we’re taking Baja a bit further with a Mexican Road Trip from Tijuana to Rosarito, Puerto Nuevo, Ensenada, Valle de Guadalupe, Tecate and Mexicali.
The state of Baja California in Northern Mexico is home to beautiful landscapes and delicious Mexican food, and I’m on a mission to explore the best things to do (and eat) across the region!
On this first episode of Travel Deeper Mexico (Baja Edition), we head south from Tijuana to Rosarito, Mexico where we eat an incredible breakfast at El Nido Restaurant in downtown Rosarito. The main attraction here is Machaca de Venado, or shredded deer meat with quail eggs and freshly made tortillas. El Nido Restaurant has been here since the 1970s and it is a must-stop on your way down through Baja to Ensenada.
Next we made a quick stop at the Playas of Rosarito for a coconut water, and to watch all the hungover souls from a wild weekend and Papas and Beer and the other beachside clubs in Rosarito. Rosarito is very well known to be a party city, and many spring breakers come down to enjoy the bars and clubs here.
While still in Rosarito, we head over to Tacos El Yaqui, one of the most recommended places on this Baja trip. Tacos El Yaqui is also a Rosarito staple, established in the 1980s. The main attraction here (and only thing they sell) is the carne asada tacos on flour tortillas.
Tacos El Yaqui was honestly one of the best tacos I've had in Mexico... and thus, one of the best Mexican Foods I've ever had.
From Rosarito, we drove south down Baja to Puerto Nuevo; said to be the Lobster Capital of Mexico. They actually sell more lobster in Puerto Nuevo than anywhere else in the world.
We visited Ortega's Restaurant overlooking the water, and had a beautiful and delicious spread of sweet, tender lobster! Again, with incredible homemade tortillas, rice, beans, and lots of great salsas. If you ever have the chance, I highly recommend coming to Baja and driving to Puerto Nuevo. The lobster here was incredible!
From Puerto Nuevo, we keep driving south to Ensenada, where we will explore the best things to do in Ensenada on the following day.
Our first day back in Baja California, Mexico was perfect, and I can't wait to share the rest of the episodes from this Mexican road trip with you, as we seek out the best things to do and best Mexican Food in Tijuana, Rosarito, Ensenada, Puerto Nuevo, Ticate, Mexicali, and my personal favorite Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico's wine country!
Stay tuned!

Best Puerto Vallarta Hotels (starting at $34/night)!
Showing you my 4 favorite Puerto Vallarta hotels, several of which are perfect for those on a budget! One of the hotels was $34 per night! In my opinion each of these hotels are the best places to stay in the Zona Romantica and Centro areas of Puerto Vallarta.
For each hotel, I will give you a room tour, show you the amenities, talk about the location and let you know if there are any downsides to the hotel. Each is a small, boutique hotel, perfect for soaking up the authentic feel of PV.
These hotels are great alternatives to an all inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta if you're looking to try something new. Also great for solo travelers, budget-conscious and those on a honeymoon or couples vacation.
They all have pools, A/C and are centrally located - walking distance to the beach, malecon and restaurants and bars. Some of these hotels are adult only, feature rooftop infinity pools and serve a daily hot breakfast.

What are the Top 10 Things to do in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico? Tips and Ideas of What To Do in PV
So, now that you are planning to head down to México and have decided to make it a memorable trip to the ever more famous beach-side destination, Puerto Vallarta, you should know a bit more of what to do in town and what might be the top things to do here.
The obvious attractions to enjoy the sun, the warm weather, the fun and varied beaches and the lukewarm emerald-green sea, but these are nothing but the appetizer, there are actually plenty of things you can enjoy in town with your family, kids, alone and without even paying a dime.
It depends on what you would like to do and what you love and enjoy, we've made a list of the most obvious sightseeing ideas in this video recording.
There are also excellent restaurants, spectacular tours and activities, fabulous and completely unique beaches, a fun and active nightlife and retail stores and shops around town.
Here's the list of the Top 10 free, or nearly free, sightseeing options in PV, all are kid friendly and great family outings with your children:
00:00 Start
00:05 The Malecon, a seaside stroll with fun for everyone (free)
00:21 The Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, a nice iconic church in downtown Puerto Vallarta, 80 yards from the main square and some 200 yards from the Malecon (free)
00:35 Los Muertos Beach and the pier, the most popular beach in town, offers non-stop fun, activities and a beautiful stroll after the malecón finishes north of the Cuale River (Free)
00:47 Cuale River Island and Market, an oasis in the middle of downtown Vallarta, lots to see, colorful market stands, a cultural center, a museum, iguanas and more. (Free)
01:02 La Cruz Lookout, catch a unique and impressive view of Puerto Vallarta from the top of the La Cruz (The Cross) hill (free)
01:20 Marina Vallarta, an exclusive area north of the PV Hotel Zone, has its own market, stores, restaurants and a nice lighthouse with a great view. (Free)
01:35 Mismaloya Beach is south of Puerto Vallarta, a beautiful beach, with lots of history, getting there will require taking a bus, but access is free.
01:51 Colomitos Beach, a small cozy wonderful beach just south of Boca de Tomatlan, the free option is getting there by land, which requires that you are in decent shape or very patient, another is paying 5 bucks or so and taking a water taxi from Boca.
02:09 Vallarta Botanical Gardens, a great day trip, beautiful gardens, flowers, jungle, a great river runs through the land. This option is not free, as you need to pay an entrance fee which is very reasonable.
02:22 Los Arcos, you can see them from the road (which is free), but really enjoying them might require taking a bay cruise, but most are reasonably priced.
There are many more things to enjoy on Family Trip in Puerto Vallarta, or for adults or active travelers, but those we will include in future videos of Puerto Vallarta on this channel.
🇲🇽 I ATE MANTA RAY in GUAYMAS, SONORA! | Mexico's BEST SEAFOOD? | The Other Side of SAN CARLOS!
🇲🇽 GUAYMAS, SONORA - Welcome to Part 16 of my 2022 Mexico Travel series! Last time, we were in the spectacular San Carlos, a beautiful, lesser-known Mexican beach location in the state of Sonora (although becoming increasingly popular with expats in Mexico or those thinking about moving to Mexico).
Guaymas is located just 25-30 minutes from San Carlos on the local bus. You can reach Guaymas from either Hermosillo or Ciudad Obregón with the bus company, Tufesa (around 2 hours either way).
Sonora is the home to seafood (mariscos) in Mexico and is well known for its CAHUAMANTA (a broth-like caldo dish with manta ray). Yes, I ate manta ray! It's definitely an acquired taste! Comida Mexicana (Mexican food) is truly top tier. Is this Mexico's best seafood? There's also some interesting architecture throughout, from the historic centre, downtown and elsewhere. Unfortunately due to knocking myself unconscious that morning (!), I couldn't cover as much ground as I wanted to, but I hope this video gives you at least a brief insight into Guaymas!
Yes there are great beach locations in Mexico - Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and so on, but you have to consider and Guaymas and San Carlos as alternative places to visit in Mexico for a beach vacation!

Mexico tourism is about to get CRUSHED
What's Oaxaca like during COVID? We're walking all over the city to try local food and drinks. Later, we share major news that will affect Mexico travel in 2021.
► Learn Spanish like us:
In today's Oaxaca, Mexico vlog, we start off the day by eating breakfast on a rooftop terrace at AM Siempre Cafe. Maddie gets her Oaxacan coffee fix and we walk through the Xochimilco neighborhood on our way to Mercado Sanchez Pascuas, a local Mexican market. While we're there, we buy a delicious prehispanic drink called Tejate. Eventually, we pick up our husky Laska and walk to one of our favorite restaurants in Oaxaca: Casa Taviche. They serve the most incredible and authentic Oaxacan food and drinks like mole, tlayudas, arroz con leche, aguas frescas, mezcal, and more. Finally, we share the big news that a negative COVID test (within 3 days of your flight) is now required to fly into the US. This takes effect on January 26th. We think this is going to decimate tourism in Mexico more than COVID-19 already has.
