Newport Lakes | A day spend at a bushland oasis of Melbourne | Exploring Australia - Places to visit
Newport Lakes is a bushland oasis created from a former bluestone quarry and rubbish tip site in the middle of busy Newport. The park is a great place for a picnic with family and friends, for a leisurely walk or just to relax in a tranquil bushland setting.
The lakes area of the 33-hectare park has been extensively revegetated using native plants, with over 200 species of plants and 85 species of birds recorded here.
A self-guided nature trail allows you to explore the lakes area at your own pace. The trail is about two kilometres in length and takes approximately 40 minutes. A brochure about the trail is available from the on-site nursery.
BBQs and shaded seating facilities are available on a first-in basis. Bookings are not available.

The park is about one kilometre, or a 15-minute walk, west from Newport Station along Mason Street, Newport.

The Newport Arms Hotel is still Sydney's best kept secret. Great location, nice atmosphere, beautiful vibes, friendly staff. A bit pricey. Can be little bit noisy at the night. Overall quite inviting and different from any other places that you may know.

Newport Beach (Northern Beaches Sydney) sunrise trip. Set out to capture a sunrise early in the year of 2016, woke up at 3.30am and started the drive with Narikki. Set up a time-lapse with the FUJI X-E2 facing the pool and a time-lapse with the Go Pro Hero 4 to capture behind the scenes of us taking photos. The 5D3 was used to do singular photos and the GH4 was used to capture some awesome 4K footage for this vlog.
