Nepi was founded according to legend, by the legendary Termo Larte 458 years before Rome. However, there have been numerous archaeological finds in the vast territory, testifying to a frequentation of these areas during much older times. As a Faliscan city, however, it was strongly influenced by Etruscan and Latin culture.

𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗿𝗮
The first documented info is that reported by Titus Livius, which shows that in 383 BC. Nepi is allied with Rome. The era is when the nascent Roman power is gradually conquering the areas of Etruscan and Faliscan influence. The Roman period saw it become a municipium, a rich and powerful city.

Numerous archaeological remains that have come down to us from that period. The patrician villas scattered throughout the territory, the amphitheater, the so-called Terme dei Gracchi, mausoleums along the Via Amerina, stones, statues and many tombstones.

During the Second Punic War together with eleven other Latin colonies, Nepi refused his support in Rome, but as always told us by T. Livius, the consequence of this decision was to pay in double measure.

𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝘀
It was an episcopal seat already in the 4th century. Sacked several times during the barbarian invasions, it experienced a period of considerable splendor in the early Middle Ages due to the fact that it was crossed by the Via Amerina, the only artery to connect Rome to Ravenna during the Greek-Gothic wars.

During the 8th century, Totone, a noble of Lombard lineage, remembered by history as Duke of Nepi, descended on Rome with an army, with which he subdued.....

NEPI | LAZIO 4K

#nepi #acquanepi #viaggiare #borghiitaliani

NEPI (VITERBO, LAZIO, ITALY)

Marmore Falls Italy

Marmore Falls (Cascate delle Marmore) is a spectacular waterfall in Italy, located near the town of Terni in the Umbria region. These falls are among the tallest in Europe, with a total height of about 165 meters (541 feet), divided into three main leaps. The Cascate delle Marmore is particularly renowned for its dramatic beauty and the controlled release of water, which creates a stunning and powerful cascade.

These falls have a fascinating history, as they were created by the ancient Romans in the 3rd century BC. The waters of the Velino River were diverted to prevent flooding in the area. Today, the release of water from the nearby Velino River is scheduled, and visitors can witness the cascades at specific times during the day.

Marmore Falls is a popular tourist attraction, offering viewing points and hiking trails that provide breathtaking panoramic views of the waterfall and the lush surrounding countryside. It's a fantastic destination for nature lovers, hikers, and those seeking a memorable natural spectacle in Italy.

Riomaggiore, Cinque Terre - Italy Walking Tour (4K 60fps ©️Voyatours)

Let's explore the lovely Riomaggiore, nestled between the mountains and the sea of the Italian Riviera 🇮🇹. This walking tour will allow you to discover one of the worldwide famous Cinque Terre: colored houses on cliffs jutting into the sea, romantic pathways, and much more.

When people think about the typical Italian seaside village, the Cinque Terre always come to mind. Here is Riomaggiore, one of the Five Lands located in the Italian Riviera, north-west of Italy. We'll get an exclusive walk on an unusually-empty Via dell'Amore, then we'll try a much more challenging pathway... and, along the way, there will be time to know more about Riomaggiore's history, food, and curious facts.
