Nemours is a commune in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France. The town is located on the Loing and its canal, c. 42 km south of Melun, on the Paris-Lyon railway.
The church dates mainly from the sixteenth century. The feudal castle, which was erected around 1120 was turned into a museum in the 20th century. It has a central keep with four rounded towers. The castle and the church are bordering the Loing river.

Annecy is the largest city of Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in southeastern France.
It lies on the northern tip of Lake Annecy, 35 kilometers south of Geneva.
Nicknamed the Pearl of French Alps in Raoul Blanchard's monograph describing its location between lake and mountains, the city controls the northern entrance to the lake gorge.
Due to the lack of available land, its resident population has remained stagnant, with 52,029 inhabitants living within the city limits in 2013.
However, its urban area, with 221,000 inhabitants, is on the 5th regional position, just behind the Geneva-Annemasse urban area, which counts 292,000 inhabitants in the northern department.
Switching from counts of Geneva’s dwelling in the 13th century, to counts of Savoy’s in the 14th century, the city became the capital of the Savoy province in 1434 during the prerogative of Genevois-Nemours until 1659.
Its role increased in 1536, during the Calvinist Reformation of Geneva, while the bishop took refuge in Annecy.
St Francis de Sales gave Annecy its role of advanced citadel of the Catholic Counter-Reformation.
The annexation of Savoy will link the city to France in 1860.
Sometimes called Venice of the Alps, this idyllic and touristic representation comes from its two canals and the Thiou river lying through the old city and whose initial role was to protect the city and to empower its handicrafts.
The city experienced an industrial development in the 19th century with silk manufacturing.
Some of its industrial legacy remains today within the head offices of NTN-SNR bearings, Salomon, Entremont and Dassault Aviation.
Since the end of the 19th century, Annecy has developed as a tourist center with the proximity of the lake, winter resorts and the renovation of its castle, inaugurated with the opening of its fine art museum in 1956.
The municipal environmental policy managed to keep 40.3% of green spaces and the city and was awarded the Golden Flower in 2015, given to the nine most-flowered French cities.
Since 1960 Annecy has been the organiser of the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, hosted at the Bonlieu Cultural Centre.
It has also been a growing educational center since the establishment of the University of Savoy in 1973.

Visit Nemours Estate
Nemours Estate is where a visitor might believe he or she magically just stepped into Europe. Modeled after Versailles, Nemours is a masterpiece of design with its mansion, fountains, artwork, gilded sculpture and what is reputedly the largest formal French garden in North America. The mansion is now self-paced and self-guided, with interpreters stationed at key locations. Visitors will be able to tour the mansion on their own, spending as much or as little time there as they’d like. We no longer require or recommend advance reservations, except for groups of 10 or more visitors. Open May through December.

The French-inspired Nemours Estate sits on nearly 200 acres in northern Delaware, nestled beside the city of Wilmington. Nemours Estate is a masterpiece of Gilded Age design with a 77-room Mansion, 200-acres of formal French gardens and grounds, and a Chauffeur's Garage housing vintage automobiles.
Home of Alfred I. duPont
Alfred married Alicia, his second wife, in 1907 and loved showering her with gifts. By far the grandest of these was the spectacular new house that he built for her on a 3,000-acre plot of land in Wilmington. He hired Carrere and Hastings, a prestigious New York architectural firm, to design the mansion in the late-18th-century French style that Alicia adored. Alfred named the estate Nemours, after the French town that his great-great-grandfather represented in the French Estates General. While looking to the past and his ancestors for inspiration, Alfred also ensured that his new home was thoroughly modern by incorporating the latest technology and many of his own inventions.

Asi najdrastickejšie na presúvaní po cestách - necestách Francúzska je prejazd cez ich zastavané a obývané časti. Je jedno, či sú to len malé obce, alebo obytné štvrte priľahlých väčších aglomerácií. Keďže vo Francúzsku dávajú veľký dôraz na bezpečnosť obyvateľov, tak aj celá cestná sieť je jeden obrovský bezpečnostný prvok. U nás sa spoliehame, že ak ide auto cez obec, tak šofér poctivo bude dodržiavať stanovenú rýchlosť. Francúzi sa s tým nejebabrali a cesty postavili tak, že žiadny cestný pirát nemá šancu ísť rýchlejšie, ako to stanovuje predpis., Je fyzicky nemožné ísť obývanou časťou rýchlo. Cesty sú nielenže veľmi úzke a plné zákrut, čo vychádza z pôvodne vybudovaných miest v hlbokej histórii, ale sú ešte doplnené o nekonečný sled zužovacích a spomaľovacích retardérov. Korunu tomu nasadzujú kruhové objazdy aj na miestach, kde sú vzhľadom na hustotu premávky úplne zbytočné. Ich funkcia je čisto spomaľovacia. A tak sa kodrcanie cez obývané časti stalo pomalým, boľavým presunom z bodu A, do budu B, z ktorého vás občas vyruší červené svetlo na semafóre. Vyzerá to asi tak. Prejdete kruhovým objazdom 20 kilometrovou rýchlosťou a odbočíte. Spomalíte, lebo ulica začína prechodom pre chodcov a ten je asi 20 cm nad úrovňou cesty, takže naň musíte autom vyliezť. Za prechodom zase autom zleziete o 20 cm nižšie nazad na cestu. Nemá veľký význam auto rozbiehať na viac, ako 30km/h, pretože o 50 metrov ďalej si hop a skok cez prechod pre chodcov zopakujete a následne vás čaká ďalší kruhový objazd. A takto som sa celý deň kodrcal asi 300 km z 800 km, ktoré som v ten deň urazil. Vychádza to asi tak na 2,5 až 3 hodiny na sto kilometrov. A Caen som vyrazil o 4:00 ráno. Bolo presne 8:00 keď som dorazil do Amiens na vykládku. Trvalo mi 4 hodiny, aby som prešiel 250 km. Z Amiens k Lyonu navigácia udala 530 km a 10 a pol hodiny cesty. Samozrejme, že to trvalo ešte dlhšie, lebo aj pauzu si treba občas dopriať. V cieli, na hotely som bol o 23:00. Ruky som mal prirastené k volantu od nekonečného krútenia a preradzovania kvaltpákou. Jó, řidič, ten tvrdý chleba má.

Probablement la chose la plus drastique à propos de se déplacer sur les routes - les non-routes de France traversent leurs parties bâties et habitées. Peu importe qu'il s'agisse de petits villages ou de zones résidentielles de grandes agglomérations adjacentes. Puisqu'en France on accorde une grande importance à la sécurité des habitants, l'ensemble du réseau routier est aussi un énorme élément de sécurité. Chez nous, on s'appuie sur le fait que si une voiture traverse le village, le conducteur respectera honnêtement la vitesse imposée. Les Français ne s'y sont pas amusés et ont construit les routes de manière à ce qu'aucun pirate de la route n'ait la possibilité d'aller plus vite que la réglementation ne le stipule, il est physiquement impossible d'aller vite dans la partie habitée. Les routes ne sont pas seulement très étroites et pleines de virages, ce qui est basé sur les villes construites à l'origine dans l'histoire profonde, mais elles sont également complétées par une série interminable de ralentisseurs de rétrécissement et de ralentissement. Les ronds-points y mettent une couronne, même dans des endroits où ils sont totalement inutiles en raison de la densité du trafic. Leur fonction est purement retardatrice. Il n'est pas d'une grande importance de démarrer la voiture à plus de 30 km/h, car 50 mètres plus loin vous répéterez le saut et sauter par-dessus le passage piéton puis un autre rond-point vous attend. Et c'est ainsi que j'ai crapahuté toute la journée pendant environ 300 km sur les 800 km que j'ai parcourus ce jour-là. Cela équivaut à environ 2,5 à 3 heures par cent kilomètres. Et j'ai quitté Caen à 4 heures du matin. Il était exactement 8 heures lorsque j'arrivai à Amiens pour le déchargement. Il m'a fallu 4 heures pour parcourir 250 km. D'Amiens à Lyon, la navigation indiquait 530 km et 10 heures et demie de route. Bien sûr, cela a pris encore plus de temps, car il faut parfois s'offrir une pause. A la ligne d'arrivée, j'étais à l'hôtel à 23h00. Mes mains étaient attachées au volant à cause de la torsion et du changement de vitesse sans fin avec le levier de vitesses. Oui, chauffeur, il a du pain dur.

Nemours Estate is where a visitor might believe he or she magically just stepped into Europe. Modeled after Versailles, Nemours is a masterpiece of design with its mansion, fountains, artwork, gilded sculpture and what is reputedly the largest formal French garden in North America. The mansion is now self-paced and self-guided, with interpreters stationed at key locations. Visitors will be able to tour the mansion on their own, spending as much or as little time there as they’d like. We no longer require or recommend advance reservations, except for groups of 10 or more visitors. Open May through December.
