If you’re thinking the name Narni reminds you of something, you’re right. The setting of the Chronicles of Narnia is a real city in Umbria with a story to tell.
Narni is a tiny hamlet, tucked away in a lush, almost wild, landscape in the Umbria region of Italy. It was built on a rocky spur overlooking the Nera Gorge. The town’s medieval heritage is entirely intact. You can wander through the charming squares and narrow streets and climb the stone steps.
Today, we travel to the Italian City of Narni which inspired the writer, C.S. Lewis, in writing the Chronicles of Narnia.

• Narni (Narnia in latino) è un comune italiano della provincia di Terni in Umbria. Secondo recenti studi all'interno del suo territorio cade il centro geografico della penisola italiana.
• Narni (in Latin, Narnia) is an ancient hilltown and comune of Umbria, in central Italy. At an altitude of 240 m, it overhangs a narrow gorge of the Nera River in the province of Terni. It is very close to the geographic center of Italy. There is a stone on the exact spot with a sign in multiple languages.
Like many of the smaller towns of Umbria, Narni is still of strikingly medieval appearance today, with stone buildings, and narrow cobblestone streets. The town is famous for one of the largest Roman bridges (Ponte d'Augusto) ever built, by which the Via Flaminia crossed the Nera. One arch of the bridge still stands; it is some 30 meters high.

⚓️ Let's start with a tour of Stifone, a small fraction of the municipality of Narni.
Particularly here, you can see what remains of a Roman shipyard, the ancient washhouses and the bridge over the Nera river.
🌱 At about 1 km, make a stop at the Mole di Narni, the emerald green of its waters will leave you speechless.
🍝 For lunch stop in Narni, we ate at the @lagallina_liberata tavern here the dishes are genuine and above all prepared with local products, delicious!

Le Mole di Narni, “laguna blu” dell’Umbria.
Terni - Italy
Terni is a city in the southern portion of the Region of Umbria in central Italy. The city is the capital of the province of Terni, located in the plain of the Nera river. It is 104 kilometres (65 miles) northeast of Rome.
Originally founded as an Ancient Roman town, the city has changed across the centuries. During the 19th-century, steel mills were introduced and led the city to have a role in the second industrial revolution in Italy. Because of its industrial importance. the city was heavily bombed during World War II by the Allies. It still remains an industrial hub, and has been nicknamed The Steel City and the Italian Manchester.
Terni also advertises itself as a City of Lovers, as its patron saint, Saint Valentine, was born and became a bishop here and the remains are preserved in the basilica-sanctuary in his honor.
