Start your visit at the Stone Forest (Shilin), one of Kunming’s most famous attractions. This UNESCO World Heritage Site features towering limestone formations that resemble a forest of stone. Walking through the paths between these dramatic rock formations is like stepping into a natural wonderland.
Visit the Green Lake Park (Cuihu Park), a beautiful urban park located in the heart of Kunming. It’s a great spot for a leisurely walk, especially in the spring when cherry blossoms bloom. You can watch locals practicing tai chi, feed the koi fish, or enjoy a boat ride on the lake.

Kunming has many tourist attractions, unfortunately we did not have a lot of time to spend in the city. If you are wondering what to do in Kunming, it's good to know that Kunming tourist attractions can be easily visited on your own. The must do in Kunming is the Dragon Gate, located on the cliff of the Western Hills (Xishan Mountain) where you can have a view of the Dianchi Lake. The seagulls at Green Lake are a wonder and if you visit during the winter time, this is definitely a must see place in Kunming. Yuantong Temple is very tranquil and best visited in the late afternoon.

Kunming (昆明), also historically known as Yunnan-Fu (雲南府), is the capital and largest city of Yunnan Province in China. It is renowned as the City of Eternal Spring for its pleasant climate and flowers that bloom all year long. The city is situated at an altitude of 1,900 meters above sea level on the Yunnan–Guizhou Plateau, just north of the Tropic of Cancer. With a population of over 8.46 million people according to the 2020 census, Kunming plays a crucial role as the political, economic, communications, and cultural center of Yunnan.
Kunming's history dates back to around 279 BC, initially benefiting from its strategic location on the caravan routes to Southeast Asia, India, and Tibet. The area was part of the Dian Kingdom, which was later incorporated into the Han dynasty's territory in 109 BC. Throughout its history, Kunming has been a melting pot of cultures and a key military and trading center. The city's significance continued through World War II, where it served as a Chinese military center, an American air base, and a transport terminus for the Burma Road.

It serves as a critical gateway to Southeast Asian countries due to its geographical position, facilitating trade and transportation links. Nanping, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province, is located in northern Fujian, on the southeastern side of the northern section of Wuyi Mountains, at the junction of Fujian, Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces, commonly known as North Fujian, northeast and Zhejiang Province Jiangshan, Longquan, Qingyuan and other counties ( City) adjacent to it, bordering Zixi, Qianshan, Guangfeng and other counties in Jiangxi Province in the northwest, bordering Gutian and Pingnan County in Ningde City in the southeast, and Taining, Jiangle, Shaxian and You in Sanming City in the southwest.
