Ajabu Adventures on the road - From Arusha to Lake Natron
And we're off! Our first destination is Lake Natron. At a 5 hour drive from Arusha there is a beautiful, desolate area that is little visited by tourists. First you will see the Ol Doinyo Lengai rising majestically, a perfectly conical shaped volcano that is still active. The name means Mountain of God in Maasai language.
After this, Lake Natron stretches out till the horizon. Due to the little islands you may feel like you have reached the coast of Southern Europe. Lake Natron is a soda lake and an important breeding ground for millions of Lesser Flamingos.
