Wuzhong District, affiliated to Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the central and western part of Suzhou City, bordering Suzhou Ancient City, Suzhou Industrial Park and Suzhou High-tech Zone in the north, Wujiang District of Suzhou in the south, Kunshan City in the east, Taihu Lake in the west, and Wuxi City, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province faces each other across the lake. The total area is 2,231 square kilometers, of which the land area is 745 square kilometers, and the water area of Taihu Lake is 1,486 square kilometers, accounting for about three-fifths of the total area of Taihu Lake. Venice of the East... Kinda [Hidden Treasure #2 Mudu, Jiangsu]

They say that Suzhou was called the Venice of the East by Marco Polo, but there are plenty of places in China that have similar claims. I was hired to take some tourism photos in an ancient Mudu Water Town on the outskirts of Suzhou, Jiangsu, China. This town has well over 2500 years of history and was a favorite of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty.

Join me as I walk through a few of the larger gardens, the Hongyin Mountain Villa, and the Yanjia Garden.

Gorgeous Wooden Water Town - The First Town On The Yangtze River - Lizhuang Ancient Town (China)

In this China travel vlog, I visit Lizhuang ancient town in Yibin, 150 miles from Chengdu. This place is known as the First Town on the Yangtze and was a major safe haven and cultural center during the Sino-Japanese War. It also has plenty of good food and is considered the home of three whites: white cake, white liquor and white meat.

My hotel I stayed at was 李庄古韵酒店 for 188 RMB per night. I enjoyed it, but because it was right next to the street it was a little noisy. However, you can also book a hotel with a river view for over 100 RMB more, which I suspect would be quieter.
