Climbing Mt Gravatt, an early morning stroll
We set off early to go mountain climbing. More of a stroll up a hill really, but good exercise and a view from the top that made it worth the ‘effort’. See where we went wrong and join us for a cuppa at the top. We took the bus from the city, a two zone fare. If you gallop up and down, you might manage to get back in 60 minutes to get a follow-on fare, which means you only pay the highest sector. You can make a maximum of three transfers.

Moggill Village construction - Most Amazing Top 10 Things in Brisbane. Lake Manchester Dam is a concrete gravity dam with an un-gated spillway across the Cabbage Tree Creek. Wivenhoe Dam is South East Queensland's largest water storage. MOGGILL HISTORY: Moggill 4070 is a community suburb in the west of the City of Brisbane Australia. It is about 19 kilometres (12 miles) from the Brisbane CBD Queensland. It comprises a mixture of small-lot and acreage residential homes along with a small number of remaining farms. Moggill is located in the Parish of Moggill within the County of Stanley, Queensland. Moggill is said to be the Turrbal Aboriginal word for Water Lizard in the Jagara language, although there are other theories as to the origins of the name Moggill... Another theory is that an ex-convict called Mog lived in a shack in the vicinity, the place gaining the name Mog's Hill. The new Moggill Village is shown currently under construction. The Moggill Ferry at Moggill - a western suburb of Brisbane, is a car cable ferry crossing the Brisbane River between the suburbs of Moggill Brisbane and Riverview in Ipswich, Queensland Australia. Close to Moggill, is Bellbowrie, a residential suburb, is 18 km south-west of central Brisbane. Its name was derived from an Aboriginal expression thought to describe a place of flowering gums. The Moggill Historical Society was formed in 2013 to research, preserve and promote the history and heritage of the Moggill district including, but not restricted to, the Brisbane suburbs of Moggill, Bellbowrie, Anstead, Pullenvale and Pinjarra Hills.
ABORIGINAL BORA RINGS - Bora is an initiation ceremony of the Aboriginal people of Eastern Australia. The word bora also refers to the site on which the initiation is performed. At such a site, boys, having reached puberty, achieve the status of men. The initiation ceremony differs from Aboriginal culture to culture, but often, at a physical level, involved scarification, circumcision, subincision and, in some regions, also the removal of a tooth. During the rites, the youths who were to be initiated were taught traditional sacred songs, the secrets of the tribe's religious visions, dances, and traditional lore. Many different clans would assemble to participate in an initiation ceremony. Women and children were not permitted to be present at the sacred bora ground where these rituals were undertaken.
