Showcase Moonah - Guerrilla Gardening
Showcase Moonah is an exciting art and creative placemaking project to help create an even better Moonah (a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania). Glenorchy City Council funded 15 community-led projects: from pop-up events; to street art; cultural activities; urban greening and street markets.
The Guerilla Gardening pop-up was led by the Tasmanian Young Planners. The purpose is to demonstrate how leftover spaces on both public and private land can be enhanced with plants to improve the appearance and experience of the streetscape. The transformational capacity of greenspace can add vibrancy and amenity for users of the precinct. The temporary installation of plants in leftover spaces was documented and displayed throughout the precinct to demonstrate possible “easy wins” to enhance the urban Space.

Melbourne is blessed with some of the best golf courses in the world - Royal Melbourne, Kingston Heath, Victoria - to name a few. But these are private courses so they are not the easiest to get onto.
Thankfully, one hour southeast of Melbourne is the Mornington Peninsula, an area that has many very good public courses and today I am playing the Legends Course at Moonah Links. It's called the Legends Course as each hole is named after a golfing legend, mainly Australians but some international stars too.
In this part of Victoria it is usually a bit breezy and today is no exception. I am playing in a 2-3 club wind and despite this handicap and the handicap that is my ordinary swing, I have a very good day and give my handicap a bit of a beating.
