We Went Out So You Didn't Have To...A Close Look At Storm Gerrit From Coastal Montrose, Scotland
As Storm Gerrit rolled through, what did we do? We went for a walk of course! :) And it was a good opportunity to document what it was like out there, down by the North Sea. Just as well we did, as there wasn't anyone else taking in the fresh sea air! Join Alicja and Steve in Montrose...

I don’t pretend to be a travel expert, but I love what I do and would be honoured if you came along with me. My channel focusses on the wide-eyed wonder and excitement of finding somewhere new, and my genuine reaction to it. You may not get a history lesson in my videos, but who knows, you might pick up some useful travel tips along the way, add a few destinations to your bucket list and hopefully be entertained by what you see. Thanks for watching, it means a lot to me :)
I do ALL of this myself. Planning, filming, editing, promoting, all with a weekly upload schedule, so please understand not every video will be an epic adventure. But my pledge is to always do my best in any situation and KEEP THE CAMERA ROLLING :)

FAQs:
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I was born in Glasgow but have lived in Carnoustie, Dalgety Bay, Stonehaven, Edinburgh, Montrose, and further afield (Salamanca, Spain & Devonport, New Zealand)
WHEN DO YOU UPLOAD?
Saturdays at 10am Scottish time. Occasionally a bonus midweek video will pop up.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
I film with a GoPro11 and my iPhone12. I edit on iMovie and use epidemicsound.com for music. I also use canva.com for thumbnails etc.
WHY DON'T YOU SPEND LONGER AT DESTINATIONS?
The usual suspects I'm afraid - time and money! Hotels especially these days make my eyes water like a true Scotsman.
WHERE'S ALICJA?
Alicja will feature as often as possible, but I'm afraid she has a proper job so it can take weeks for our schedules to match up.
DO YOU PAY FOR YOUR OWN TRAVEL?
Yes I do. I've only ever accepted a complementary ticket as compensation for a previous problem. All my opinions are frank and honest reflections of travel as I experience it.
WHY THE ADS?
It's my income, I can't do this for free.
CAN I CONTACT YOU?
I used to list my email address but felt bad not having the capacity to respond to everything so took it down (and I got a LOT of spam so missed many genuine messages along the way).
HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE CHANNEL?
Watching my videos is of course support enough, but if you'd like to support further, I'll pop links below for Paypal and Patreon. All kind donations are super-appreciated and will go 100% towards future filming trips.
DO YOU ACCEPT SPONSORSHIPS?
I don't like to upset the flow of my videos, so I don't even include mid-roll ads anymore (at significant loss of income to myself), so I prefer not to include sponsorships either. I'm open to a small slide at the start/end of each video, but I don't want to get into talking about products, it's something I don't like as a viewer myself (especially as a viewer who pays for YouTube Premium). So it's probably a polite no, although all of this goes out the window if you offer me something which can give me the chance to make a video for my audience that would otherwise be impossible.
Edinburgh's pubs are as beautiful as the city itself. Well, most of them anyway...
Following on from our Glasgow Pubs video, we've hopped across to the east coast to attempt the same in the capital city - Edinburgh. Known as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, how will its pubs and bars match up? Today you'll see everything from the oldest pub in Scotland to one of the most disappointing. Is your favourite pub on our list? (I wouldn't be surprised if not as we barely scratch the surface on this pub crawl!)

The Coolest UK City? Bristol Really Surprised Me On My First Ever Visit. Join Me On My Brunel Tour!
I must admit to knowing pretty much nothing about Bristol before this visit and the only reason I was here was to learn a bit more about one of the greatest engineers in the history of the world - Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
In today's video I'll take you for a walk around the city with a loosely based theme of visiting as many Brunel sights as I can find.
We'll see a famous Brunel bridge, a less famous Brunel bridge, a mighty 1800s transatlantic ship, a castle-like railway station and a clock with two times. We may even eat a pie. Enjoy the video...
My visit was on Tuesday 1st August 2023. I was also there on the Wednesday as well, but we won't count that as the weather turned pretty awful (which put an end to other video plans I had in the area!)

Hi, I’m Steve from Scotland. I plan, film and edit travel videos both at home and throughout the world, with all the work done myself. I try to go a bit beyond the normal tourist route, exploring less-visited places and would be honoured if you'd come along as well. But please don't expect an expert guide, if that's what you're after, this is probably not the channel for you. What you WILL find here though are my 100% honest impressions of what I see along the way, albeit as a layman. And I always believe the star of any video is not me, but the places I visit. I hope this comes across and you can feel like you are there with me. Please remember to subscribe, like, comment, share, all that stuff if you enjoy my videos (or even a thumbs down if you don't!). I make a conscious effort not to say this in the videos themselves, but it would be a massive help to the channel and open it up to bigger audiences around the world. Oh, and who's that with me in many of the adventures? Well that must be my glamorous sidekick Alicja (who features as often as she can). Thanks for watching and enjoy the video :)

Why some McDonald's Have A Single Arch 🤔 (EXPLAINED)
This wasn't as easy as we expected! Visiting 10 iconic Glasgow pubs, all in a single (rainy) day...
The weather scuppered our plans to film a video in Glasgow today, so at the last minute we pulled together a list of 10 iconic local pubs and set off trying to visit them all in a day. What better way to discover a city and its people!
We weren't sure how this one would work, filming in public places can be tricky, especially when people have a few beers in them, so join us to see what happened...

What’s happening in Montrose this week? | Montrose Walkabout | April 2022
A walk around Montrose Scotland, April 2022
A geographical extreme that's tricky to get to PLUS my favourite beach. All in one glorious weekend!
With weather like this, there was only one place for our weekend - the coast! But we pushed it as far west as is possible on the British mainland. Join us on a beautiful February weekend as we visit the most westerly mainland point, take in the views across to the islands, find a rubbish overnight parking spot and do something we rarely do in February in Scotland :D Enjoy the video...
Filmed on weekend of 25/26 February 2023.

Getting to The Top of The Most Photographed Mountain in Scotland!
Become a SteveMarsh Supporter at:
Glencoe is a playground for hiking, climbing and everything outdoors. It's also home to Scotland's most photographed mountain - Buachaille Etive Mòr or just 'The Buachaille' as it's more affectionately known.
Today, we will walk and scramble our way up to its summit at Stob Dearg, and show you what the view is like from the top, with Rannoch Moor stretching out as far as the eye can see below.
Stob Dearg is classified as a Munro - Scottish mountains with a height of over 3000ft. It's a serious hike to get to the top and in our opinion shouldn't be attempted without some experience and a good pair of boots. We certainly learned some lessons today on how the weather can change a mountain from a fairly benign experience to a mighty dangerous place!
I hope this video gives you a good impression of how it is to hike to the top of such an iconic mountain, and then get back down again!

You'll see I was wearing a SPIS badge today - SPIS (or Strangle Places in Scotland) is a fun Facebook page run by Jag Betty and Solo Bro (both of whom have YouTube channels). They are local to us (Broughty Ferry and Arbroath) and I recommend checking them out if you don't know about them already. They sometimes hide badges on their trips and Alicja and I were lucky enough to track one down in Montrose. It was a fun treasure hunt!
